  1. Agreed. Even tho many of my bases are larger, I prefer a smaller base. I also prefer to build inside the base when possible. The bigger you go, the longer it takes, and the more you risk memory problems with the way the storage is integrated into the base. When we start doing contests, I may make a category of something like, "Coolest functional base under 2k items" or something like that. šŸ™‚ I mean, given the editor, sometimes you have to use up a lot of pieces to get the effects you want, but big just for the sake of big does not make sense to me, especially when there is often, as you pointed out, a lot of wasted and empty space. (None of which, of course, applies to this particular base, or any base just because it is large. It's not about the size, it's how the space is used.) -Dacy
  2. And duh...sorry! lol. Did not notice that. Thanks. šŸ™‚ -Dacy
  3. @Easter Bunny did a great base on Indomitable, XMAS-7920, well worth the trip! I don't have a screenshot atm. Go see it! -Dacy
  4. Also forgot which shard šŸ™‚ -Dacy
  5. You follow the directions listed above, the file goes to where your other City files are under "demorecord" or something like that. It's a small text file. You would contact the HC team through a GM if your base was corrupted, and they would get it to a dev who can work their magic to reset it. The only thing you can actually do is have the recording and give it to them, there's nothing you can personally do to restore a corrupted file on the server. -Dacy
  6. kito, would you like to join my Discord? I have a section dedicated to people looking for commissions and people looking for builders; there might be several people who would be interested. We always have more looking for help than looking for work. šŸ™‚ Of course, they might also stop in here to answer you, and going by other posts I've seen, someone will be interested, but it's a suggestion if you'd like to . https://discord.gg/8pMP3qbxXB -Dacy
  7. We'll be having other classes at other times and days. The next scheduled one after this Saturday is Dec. 5th at 8 EST (7 CST, 5 PST). Also, feel free to join my Discord where you can get info and instruction. https://discord.gg/8pMP3qbxXB -Dacy
  8. Announcing what we hope will be regular base building classes, held by CR Easter Bunny and me, CR Dacy. We will be sure to do frequent beginner classes, but also willing to answer whatever we can as to questions you may have, and we'll probably do focused classes like "Landscaping", "Buildings", "Caves" and other things (suggestions welcome). Ask us anything! First class will be Saturday, Nov 19, 3 PM EST (that's 2 PM CST, Noon PST). This will be a beginner focused class, with room for questions, held on the Homecoming Discord, in one of the general voice channels (probably voice 1, depending on availability). -Dacy
  9. I usually use the tech medical operating table, found in tech medical tab. -Dacy
  10. You can actually save your base. Type /demorecord zepbase (or whatever your base name is or whatever you want to call the file) and it will record the textfile, for that is all it is. You can then type /demostop . It takes no real time to do the recording, so you can type the stop command right away. Now, there currently is no way to share that base....yet....but there may well be someday, maybe even someday soon. And, if there's a problem with your base and the file gets corrupted later, you would have this for resetting it. -Dacy
  11. FX definitely affect lag and processing time. How many items will create lag will depend on your system, and the polygons, which don't really relate to item count, but more positioning vs. the light sources, which isn't really possible to tell from our side of things. I've had bases that had very few items lag, I've had bases with a ton of items, not lag so much. And, multiple clicks are definitely one of the ways lag shows up. It's aggravating, I know. Try facing a direction when you're building that looks away from the main part of the base, where most of the items are, that might help. Clicking in the entry room before positioning an item can also help, dunno why. -Dacy
  12. I don't know about evil redcaps, but if you're looking for a Christmas base, look no further than Sleigh Belles by @Easter Bunny (XMAS-7920) on Indomitable. (Yes, Indomitable. If that's not your home shard, just transfer or make an alt, it's easy! Or watch my video tour of it.) It's one of the most amazing bases on Homecoming. -Dacy
  13. If you see these people, please let them know how much you enjoyed what they did for the event and for the community! -Dacy
  14. HUGE thank you shout out goes out to the many generous donors who supported the Halloween Giveaway this year. This giveaway is usually across all servers (Torchbearer did not have representatives who could spend the time to hand out treats this year, but will next year!), but largely funded by Everlasting donors. @BlackHearted is far and away the largest donor, but several other individuals and clubs added solid support as well! Gehenna, Black Friday, Build'it Bill@ScarredSilencer, @Stryk/Da Bobs, and @EnnVee all made large donations, and @EnnVee was also a base host, who largely funded the giveaway at her base on Excelsior. As you can see, the list is longer than just these people; many people contributed to that we could do this amazing giveaway. THANK YOU, you made this possible!! Also HUGE THANKS to my HAUNTS!! These amazing people gave generously of their time and energy to play various creatures in the Witch's House. The experience was SO much better because these people were there! (I'm hoping the handles I know them by are the same people here!) @cephalopod has probably been my #1 haunt and mainstay support actor. They showed up every day, filling in wherever I needed help, sometime doing two roles at once. @Sandpit, man, I am SO glad you came to help! @rookery., also a solid presence, frequently there, always funny. @MayDay, very helpful and there a great deal of the time, and @Arklide, someone I can definitely count on to sign up and be there! Fewer hours, but no less helpful is @Tanklet, @aalyasenai, @BlackHearted and @Moondancerdrake (not sure which Moondancer they are here). @Trick, @Mutton, @Kid Challeen, Amara (very likely not the ones listed here), @Sp3ctr4l, @choochus, @Mental Mercury, and @Lostintranslation finish out the roster of people who have given time to pull off this production. THANK YOU. @Nightraven (no idea who to tag) faithfully provided music people could tune into, thank you for that!! And a TREMENDOUS thank you to the GMs who came and helped out in the "transmogrifier" room. Yeah. Probably a made up word. But people seemed to have a lot of fun with it!! And if you don't know what I'm referring to, there is STILL TIME TO STOP BY. But anyway, a shout out to @GM Impervium, who's spent a great deal of time making all our lives better, @GM Helferlein and @GM Willow who also stopped by and helped out. Hoping to add one more GM name to that list, but we will see. šŸ™‚ THANK YOU, I can't express that enough. Last thanks goes out to Everlasting's RP community; THANK YOU for those of you who play along with us, it makes our day, it makes it fun, and it's a huge reason we do this at all. You are awesome!! Apologies if I tagged any incorrect people, and didn't tag correct ones. -Dacy
  15. (Note: Witch's House giveaway hours have changed from previous postings) (And now Hunter's Nightmare hours have also changed.)
  16. Revised Witch's House Hours for Giveaway (due to scare actor availability and patterns of attendance)!
  17. I don't see the problem, either, but many people just won't do it. I'd love an easy way to talk/cross promote events over shards as well, that way people could know what was going on on other shards and perhaps we'd get more cross traffic. There are awesome bases on all the servers that deserve to be seen! Plus other stuffs. šŸ™‚ -Dacy
  18. See, right now, base storage is completely meshed in a base, so right there, that's not possible, you'd have to clear the storage before a base could be copied. Hopefully, one day sooner rather than later, they will extricate storage from the base information. Yes, a save feature would be great. Until and unless, of course, it's like a document you're working on where nothing is saved until you save it..and then you get mapserved and everything you were doing is now gone. -Dacy
  19. I’m afraid that currently, that technology is not able to be used. -Dacy
  20. Part of my job as community rep is to allow people to take advantage of my experience. I'm glad you haven't had the issues others have had with the distance, but distance can be demonstrably a factor in difficulties with teleporters. My job is to give accurate best practices that will work for people. My best advice to someone having difficulties with teleporters remains to check to make sure both beacon and teleporter are of the same alignment (tech or arcane), place the beacons close to the teleporter, especially if you have other teleporters of the same alignment nearby, and when checking them, make sure your character can see that particular destination (hero can't see villain destinations, for example). If you do all of this and still have difficulties, call me @dacy in game, or page me on the Base Building in game chat channel. I or another moderator will be happy to try and help. -Dacy
  21. Perhaps if you brought your beacons closer, they would indeed work above the floor. You can check if a beacon is connected to a teleport in a couple of ways: the teleporter box turns yellow, or you'll see it listed in connections under aux in the item box. They just patched the teleporters on Tuesday's patch. -Dacy
  22. Patch has changed the behavior of interdimensional shards. Not sure how it wasn't working when above the ground; maybe you mean above a floor? I've never had that problem. But regardless, you no longer seem to go down into the ground with the interdimensional shard. -Dacy
  23. I'm sure that was the problem, yes. Once the beacons were moved close to the beacon, they connected with no problem. Distance also makes keeping the beacons at one particular teleporter more difficult. I am not sure what advantage you think that putting your beacons that far away gives you? Beacons are quite easily hidden in the floor, in surrounding objects, in the wall, etc; there is no need to send them to the edge of the map. -Dacy
  24. I'm thinking the patch has done this. I'm guessing the TARDIS could just be raised, that its item box is intersecting the player item box, and some item boxes are stickier than others (that's just my experience, not a set in stone programming code note). I had a working portal that's hidden inside of things, but I used hidden markers to make sure the interactive surface still showed. It worked great until the patch; the tweak they made for PvP (because the portal and the interdimensional shard and I think the Vanguard portal were hijacking the rez rings) has changed this so now, your portal needs to be free of anything that has collision, at least clear enough so that a player's hit box is unaffected. Place and test to be sure. -Dacy
  25. One person I helped who said that they couldn't get them to work was actually trying to place the beacons too far away from the teleporter. Make sure you have the correct alignment, and that you are placing the beacon closely to the teleporter. Message me in game at @Dacy if it's still not working, I'll have a look. -Dacy
