HUGE thank you shout out goes out to the many generous donors who supported the Halloween Giveaway this year. This giveaway is usually across all servers (Torchbearer did not have representatives who could spend the time to hand out treats this year, but will next year!), but largely funded by Everlasting donors. @BlackHearted is far and away the largest donor, but several other individuals and clubs added solid support as well! Gehenna, Black Friday, Build'it Bill@ScarredSilencer, @Stryk/Da Bobs, and @EnnVee all made large donations, and @EnnVee was also a base host, who largely funded the giveaway at her base on Excelsior. As you can see, the list is longer than just these people; many people contributed to that we could do this amazing giveaway. THANK YOU, you made this possible!! Also HUGE THANKS to my HAUNTS!! These amazing people gave generously of their time and energy to play various creatures in the Witch's House. The experience was SO much better because these people were there! (I'm hoping the handles I know them by are the same people here!) @cephalopod has probably been my #1 haunt and mainstay support actor. They showed up every day, filling in wherever I needed help, sometime doing two roles at once. @Sandpit, man, I am SO glad you came to help! @rookery., also a solid presence, frequently there, always funny. @MayDay, very helpful and there a great deal of the time, and @Arklide, someone I can definitely count on to sign up and be there! Fewer hours, but no less helpful is @Tanklet, @aalyasenai, @BlackHearted and @Moondancerdrake (not sure which Moondancer they are here). @Trick, @Mutton, @Kid Challeen, Amara (very likely not the ones listed here), @Sp3ctr4l, @choochus, @Mental Mercury, and @Lostintranslation finish out the roster of people who have given time to pull off this production. THANK YOU. @Nightraven (no idea who to tag) faithfully provided music people could tune into, thank you for that!! And a TREMENDOUS thank you to the GMs who came and helped out in the "transmogrifier" room. Yeah. Probably a made up word. But people seemed to have a lot of fun with it!! And if you don't know what I'm referring to, there is STILL TIME TO STOP BY. But anyway, a shout out to @GM Impervium, who's spent a great deal of time making all our lives better, @GM Helferlein and @GM Willow who also stopped by and helped out. Hoping to add one more GM name to that list, but we will see. š THANK YOU, I can't express that enough. Last thanks goes out to Everlasting's RP community; THANK YOU for those of you who play along with us, it makes our day, it makes it fun, and it's a huge reason we do this at all. You are awesome!! Apologies if I tagged any incorrect people, and didn't tag correct ones. -Dacy

Spooky Season Approaches! Homecoming's Halloween Event 2022!
Dacy replied to Cobalt Arachne's topic in Events & Contests
Revised Witch's House Hours for Giveaway (due to scare actor availability and patterns of attendance)! -
I don't see the problem, either, but many people just won't do it. I'd love an easy way to talk/cross promote events over shards as well, that way people could know what was going on on other shards and perhaps we'd get more cross traffic. There are awesome bases on all the servers that deserve to be seen! Plus other stuffs. š -Dacy

See, right now, base storage is completely meshed in a base, so right there, that's not possible, you'd have to clear the storage before a base could be copied. Hopefully, one day sooner rather than later, they will extricate storage from the base information. Yes, a save feature would be great. Until and unless, of course, it's like a document you're working on where nothing is saved until you save it..and then you get mapserved and everything you were doing is now gone. -Dacy
-
Iām afraid that currently, that technology is not able to be used. -Dacy

Part of my job as community rep is to allow people to take advantage of my experience. I'm glad you haven't had the issues others have had with the distance, but distance can be demonstrably a factor in difficulties with teleporters. My job is to give accurate best practices that will work for people. My best advice to someone having difficulties with teleporters remains to check to make sure both beacon and teleporter are of the same alignment (tech or arcane), place the beacons close to the teleporter, especially if you have other teleporters of the same alignment nearby, and when checking them, make sure your character can see that particular destination (hero can't see villain destinations, for example). If you do all of this and still have difficulties, call me @dacy in game, or page me on the Base Building in game chat channel. I or another moderator will be happy to try and help. -Dacy
-
Perhaps if you brought your beacons closer, they would indeed work above the floor. You can check if a beacon is connected to a teleport in a couple of ways: the teleporter box turns yellow, or you'll see it listed in connections under aux in the item box. They just patched the teleporters on Tuesday's patch. -Dacy
-
Patch has changed the behavior of interdimensional shards. Not sure how it wasn't working when above the ground; maybe you mean above a floor? I've never had that problem. But regardless, you no longer seem to go down into the ground with the interdimensional shard. -Dacy
-
I'm sure that was the problem, yes. Once the beacons were moved close to the beacon, they connected with no problem. Distance also makes keeping the beacons at one particular teleporter more difficult. I am not sure what advantage you think that putting your beacons that far away gives you? Beacons are quite easily hidden in the floor, in surrounding objects, in the wall, etc; there is no need to send them to the edge of the map. -Dacy
-
I'm thinking the patch has done this. I'm guessing the TARDIS could just be raised, that its item box is intersecting the player item box, and some item boxes are stickier than others (that's just my experience, not a set in stone programming code note). I had a working portal that's hidden inside of things, but I used hidden markers to make sure the interactive surface still showed. It worked great until the patch; the tweak they made for PvP (because the portal and the interdimensional shard and I think the Vanguard portal were hijacking the rez rings) has changed this so now, your portal needs to be free of anything that has collision, at least clear enough so that a player's hit box is unaffected. Place and test to be sure. -Dacy
-
One person I helped who said that they couldn't get them to work was actually trying to place the beacons too far away from the teleporter. Make sure you have the correct alignment, and that you are placing the beacon closely to the teleporter. Message me in game at @Dacy if it's still not working, I'll have a look. -Dacy

Welcome to our Base Building Community Reps!
Dacy replied to Number Six's topic in Base Construction
Thank you! I'm honored to be your representative. Really, I don't think I will be doing much that I wasn't already doing, only I'll have better access to the HC team to convey the concerns and desires of the base building community. Now, I know there are a LOT of things people want, but dev time is limited (and remember they are volunteers, too), and so we'll be focusing on the things that can be delivered that will be something for the most people possible, at least first. So, EB and I are here to help you, as I've tried to do ever since coming to Homecoming. To that end, in tomorrow's maintenance update, there will be a new addition to the base editor: a link in options you can click to join the new in game chat channel, Base Building. You can join it now, too, but the point was to make a channel and access to that channel so that anyone building would be able to easily find out about it and join. Lots of new builders have little idea of all the resources that are available! The channel will allow the base building community to communicate on a common medium, great for notifying people if there is a problem with bases due to a patch, for example, or notify them of events or other things they should know about, and of course, it's great for helping people who have problems. Naturally, the more experienced base builders we have on the channel, the better, because there is then a better chance that someone who needs help will get an answer quickly. We are also often on Discord, both in the HC channel, and in my own server (I will happily provide a link if requested, but this greeting isn't the place.) š We intend to do more than just provide you with better access to the HC team, tho; we know you want nothing more than recognition for your hard work! So we will be exploring ways to do that, including of course, base contests. (Not immediately, give us some time to get things worked out!) Plus other things as we think of them and take suggestions. Above all, we are quite conscious that we are representing you. We will do our very best to do that well! -Dacy -
Spooky Season Approaches! Homecoming's Halloween Event 2022!
Dacy replied to Cobalt Arachne's topic in Events & Contests
This is something the RP crowd regularly employs. Usually they do a set they've put together on a site such as "Beatsense"; there are others, but I'm not super familiar with them. They give the visitors the URL when they arrive so everyone is listening to the same thing (everyone who wants to, that is). -Dacy -

And here's who you can thank. š Such awesome people who help me!! Special thanks to @Easter Bunny for his help, costuming, and ever present support; @aalyasenai for her assistance as well, Night Raven (unsure of her global here) for DJ services. -

If I get more bases that participate, I will change this to reflect that new information. Players from any shard are welcome to come over to participating bases. The Witch's House is a true haunted house experience, so if that interests you, transfer or make a character on Everlasting and come see what's going on! Questions and comments welcome. š

Thank you! Um..what can they do that would differentiate it from something I could post? I am a little lost as to what I can ask for. š -Dacy -
What about just having a meet n greet or something connected with a convention (or multiple in various parts of the country) that already exists? Maybe a panel or two. Get some cosplay going. We don't need to reinvent the wheel, not when there are already conventions around that are well populated where we could potentially expand our player base. -Dacy

Hello! Every year, I've done a giveaway with billions in "treats" for Halloween. All people have to do is stop by a participating base, and they get a treat worth at least 10=20 million, and there's no restrictions on how often you can stop by! Here's the rub for Torchbearer: no one has stepped forward to host this on this shard as of yet. Now, the prizes are all provided through the generosity of the community, so it costs nothing to host. I see you had a great halloween themed base last year, too, but the owner is apparently not around anymore, or at least, not much, but the base is still there, so people have to be in the sg. That would make a great place to give treats out, but any base will do. Is there anyone who would like to give out treats from their base for Halloween? If not, I do invite all of you to either make a random character and come by the Witch's House on Everlasting for a unique experience and some fabulous treats. It's BOO-17189, and I'll be handing out treats on 10/30/22 from 7-11 EST, and all day on Halloween, starting from 1 PM EST. Salvage and enhancements do transfer over, so make or transfer a character, and then transfer back when finished. I hope to hear from someone who's willing to host, and I also hope to see people from all the shards come get some treats! Thanks! -Dacy

Spooky Season Approaches! Homecoming's Halloween Event 2022!
Dacy replied to Cobalt Arachne's topic in Events & Contests
I wish I could list my Halloween Extravaganza Giveaway on the official list of events... Although, this year, it might not be on all the shards, since I'm having difficulty finding anyone to host on Indomitable and Torchbearer. But people can still make a random alt and come visit a participating base, and the Witch's House (BOO-17189) on Everlasting is a unique and sought after experience, all by itself. I can't offer badges or xp, but visit a base and get treats worth at least 10-20 million inf each? Pretty sweet deal. But a lot of people still have not heard about it. All bases participating will be open on the 31st with treats for at least some hours, some bases will also be open on the 30th for some hours. More information soon to come! -Dacy -
There is a Halloween Event I try and run across all the shards every year. I would like to see Indomitable be able to partake, but so far no one has stepped forward to host it here. I try and publicize it on Discord, on the forums, but still, many people don't hear and so may not know about it. I'm looking for someone with a base they'd like to show off a bit, especially if the base has a theme that goes well with Halloween. Through generous donations of people from the community, I'm able to provide treats to participating hosts at no cost to them. These treats are generally worth 10-20 million infl each, with no restrictions on how many visits you can make or how many alts you bring to trick or treat. I had a base who participated last year on Indom, but I have not heard from them this year. If you'd like Indom to not miss out by being the only server not to participate, and you have a base that you could use to host, I'd love to hear from you. If you don't have such a base or can't because of other commitments, if you know of someone who might like to do it, I'd love to hear from you or them. Most people are doing the giveaway on the 31 to some extent, but also many are using the weekend either instead of the 31 (on a Monday) or in addition to it. You are only doing the giveaway based on the hours and dates you set up with me. I do the poster, but of course, you know the people here the best, and so any help publicizing is much appreciated. I literally hand you the treats, influence, and a chart to help randomize the treats. You can keep some of the treats as a bonus for your participation. I'd love to see Indom participate again this year. I'm asking here because this seemed a topic with people who care about Indom's future, people who are involved with the server. I can be contacted here, or in the game @Dacy. I hope to hear from someone on Indom soon! Thank you! -Dacy

The devs would like this too; one told me that was the thing that should have been first on my list that I didn't know to ask for. Here's the thing: base storage is currently written into the base itself. EVERY time you access storage in the base, the base rewrites itself. The larger the base, the bigger the disruption. The editor is apparently very prone to errors when it comes to storage items and can do very bad things, so, this is why when you grab a storage item by accident and move it, you can't undo it. That's a safeguard. Also why you can't move a room with storage in it. So the thing you're actually asking for, what I was told needs to happen, is that the storage needs to be separate from the base, like our vault storage is now separate from bases or banks. Doing this thing would resolve many errors that are currently possible, and would eliminate the brief mapserve when you access storage (and if you're in a large and heavily populated base, accessing the storage has an EXCELLENT CHANCE of mapserving EVERYONE out of the base! (I did this last year in the Witch's House by accident). -Dacy
