  1. The responses here make me reflect on the above thread. We fail new players and players in general by telling them something in the game could be better is awful and not to play it. I recently saw it in the General/Help channels: a new player(s) asking about this powerset or that powerset. Response: "That set is hot garbage; you should play [insert your favorite set] instead." Or something akin to that Happens here in the forums as well. Nothing in this game is bad, just depends on how you play. So ... we lead by example. We show how it can be done. I used Repel on my Fire/Kin to push stuff back into the mob got a tell: "Whoa I was told Repel was BAD and not to take it ... used that way guess not! Yes ... I am veteran of the Mothership bowl where we used this tactic I used my 2 single target powers on my Energy/Energy blaster to knock targets back into mob tell: "Guess Knockback is not that BAD" The Mothership is also where I refined this by plinking Rikti from the edge into the bowl A new player on a tank, Inv/SS, opened with Stomp every single time. Team leader told them it was best not to open with it as it scatters the mob "Ok" Done easy We lead by example. The easy answer is to just slot the SA proc. Sure ... easy. Or you could learn/teach how to actually play a powerset and utilize its powers and inherit effects It helps when there are players to imitate. I reflect on Jack's saying being a hero/villain requires choices. Therefore I do slot the SA in SOME of my powers, but not all.
  2. Energy Blast is not a troll set no matter what anyone says. I have an Energy/Energy 50. Only two powers keep their KB, and they are single target powers. One team leader sent a tell when I joined: Leader: "Do you have your KB handled?" I responded in Broadcast, General, and LFG with: "Hey [insert team leader name here] I handle my knockback the way I handle your mom .... [the rest is redacted cause I don't want to get banned here ] Lotsa laughter in the channel and I left the team. It was not the first time I had that question about that character or my PB. Any future questions will get a vitriolic but humorous response. This topic has been debated beyond ad nausea. I would love another set or two that could edit KB. A KU one would be nice.

  4. Yes! I just had this thought as I am currently working on a character where floor length hair would be nice.
  5. An option you have to turn on .... sure
  6. I think un-slotted, they still have an effect on the character. It has been discussed before, but I am not sure if it is being looked at.
  7. Sure. I remember those discussions. Like: or or maybe ... no sure of invisible jetpack counts ...oh this is another shield one
  8. um... yes? *quietly shoves altar into a closet <.< <.< nothing to see here...Nope
  9. We fail players by telling them things are bad. By telling what to do and not do ... according to our persceptive. Power leveling existed before AE. Council map with the portals. "We clear, but don't touch portals." Rinse and repeat. Wolves map etc. "Knockback is bad. Slot your power with knockdowns." I experienced this last night on a DiB Tanker kept leading with Handclap and scattering the mob. The team leader told them, "I know you are new, so slot knockdowns into your powers ASAP." Sure. KB is not bad. You need to know when and how to use it. Now we have a player who perceives this aspect of powers as bad. Don't play this Power set ... it sucks. You NEED to start your build in MIDS. Let them play and develop their own experience.
  10. Yessssssss!!!
  11. Well, the Plant flag power would have dissipated if you moved too far. Of course ... wave the banner 🙂 Love this idea
  12. Empathy is also about doing something that gets you nothing in return. The majority of the set's powers do not affect the caster. Absorb Pain has you literally sacrifice yourself to heal someone else
  13. I would love a plant the flag option. I can see Atlas Park now .....
  14. Yup, this was my first thought primarily with what you are looking for. Or any of the Epics.
  15. Since I just replayed the arc... The Eternal Prison map in the DA story arc. Yeah, they dropped the lighting way down and added stars, but it was so effective the first time I played. Very disorienting when I first played the story through.
  16. I consider the Copy Infringement as House Rules. If I have a character that gets reported. Fine. Tweak the name, costume, and bio. Back to playing. I have reported characters as well. Because costume, name, and bio were too close.
  17. I have been exploring the momentum aspect of Super Speed on my current Alt. The jump aspect nearly equals Super Jump.
  18. Greycat nailed it ... the definition of fun varies. I remade my Ice/Ice/Ice tanker from Live and spent a few months just tinkering with her build, and ended with something really good. Tanked Hami 🙂 I remade my PB. It was fun! He is the only character that I fully kitted all build options. He is formidable and highly durable. I have also been going through all my alts. Examples: DB/Martial Combat. Paired with Combat Teleport, this is just an exciting character to play. Ki Push, when it lands, just makes me giggle Rad/Rad blaster ... makes things go BOOM! quick like. An amazing combo of DPS and Debuff I have versions of the new Storm set and Seismic Blast... despite the negative backlash, I enjoyed them. My current character is an MA/Willpower Brute; A little old-school fun. Inspired by the Duke Cannon products ... but with a Danny Crane personality 🙂 Completely satisfying
  19. Out of all the rescue and lead-out missions, the only one I have never had an issue with is the Rescue of the Rikti Negotiator from Crimson. For the Bodyguard Badge ... I think that is the right one. But ... just that one.
  20. I have to agree with @Greycat about the Eden trial map. However, I have been doing the DA arcs, and the Save Marcus mission map is kinda unique. The boat defense is interesting. There is also the map where you descend into a flooded level to get a glowie. No baddies to fight, just the darkness.
  21. I am for this. I just want you to have turn this ON and not have me turn it OFF. no idea. I have been on the Internet for as long. And have had exactly two experiences. One was on a photography website, where I found out that this person had multiple reports against them and, despite being banned many times, always found a way to get back on.🤷‍♂️ Also, I have been hacked exactly once, whereas a friend has gone through it many times. 🤷‍♂️ I have a tendency not to back down or out of an argument/discussion. With the wrong person ... it can will go bad. Nowadays, everyone is right—no, this person is more right; that person is even more right. Our forums are the perfect example. There are a few loud voices that always have to be right. God forbid you disagree with them. I find myself commenting less and less. Look at how many threads devolve into bickering. Bickering over things not really connected to the OP. "Solutions" being offered that really don't solve the problem. The recent Instanced Hami thread is a good example. "Stalkers go after the weaker." IRL, for sure. As a runner, I can share horror stories of women being harassed while running. Online interactions differ; fragile egos may react strongly to disagreement. "It hasn't ever happened to me, so why is it an issue?" See the first above example. Over 40 years, I have never had an issue. If you have one, why should I acknowledge it? Why should it matter to me? A statement akin to this shows a complete lack of empathy. "If you want privacy, you have something to hide." No Why do you need to get into my business
  22. Which I did. Reported. This is also borderline victim blaming.
