  1. This would directly and adversely impact running back to back TFs/SFs or any mission content really. Many people use TFs as means for leveling.
  2. Totally understood that it is not a promise of anything. Thank you for sharing your insight here. 🙂
  3. Not to diminish your experience as I have no reason to doubt you, however my personal experience is wildly different than yours. I migrated from Torchbearer to Excelsior many months ago and I have yet to encounter any player that is brand new to the game, let alone one that was PLed to 50 right out of the tutorial. I am online daily joining and leading PUGs for all sorts of activities. I am being honest here, I just do not see the problem you are seeing. Are there players who I feel play badly? Absolutely. Are there players who will not remember how to get places? Absolutely. I started playing CoH back in BETA and I still do not know everything there is to know about the game. I do not remember a lot of things. Personally, I think it a mistake to judge people on badge counts or how they want to play or what the extent of their game knowledge is. If you encounter someone who does not know something, take it as an opportunity to teach them instead of berate them. Bemoaning them on the forums here is not helping to build a welcoming community. I totally agree with what @PeregrineFalcon posted above. Make friends and team with them. That is what friends lists are for. He is also spot on in that completely removing AE and radios and whatever other content you do not like is not going to have the affect you think it will. Players who play badly are still going to play badly regardless and will just find another mission to farm. It just seems silly to me to read people complaining about others begging for PLs who then go to the AE building to hang out and observe people doing something that totally annoys them. That is just odd.
  4. I have a couple of alts in Amazon Army and I have no intention of closing the doors on the group. The base he built will remain untouched so long as I am around. I will try to put together some nice screen captures into a thread for the base. He had the passcodes in his forum signature, so they are all open to the public to visit and enjoy. I am all for having Heraclea as a permanent NPC in the base as well, however that seems a lot more work for the team here.
  5. Yes please!! Would love to see the animations from Quick Strike and Body Blow ported over from KM as alternate punch animations for Thunder Kick and Storm Kick.
  6. Totally agree with helping others. I have yet to encounter a brand new player who was PL'ed right out to the tutorial. And no offense meant, given the criteria of how these supposed "new players" were deemed "new", I question whether those players really were new.
  7. May I kindly ask that you re-read what @GM Impervium posted above and keep the drama out of this thread? Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
  8. I thought about that as well, however considering that seemed like a lot more work for the team here and given Heraclea's origins/theme, I thought Cimerora was more fitting. Amazon Army was always his first home.
  9. See if you are able to work in the left side of the screen as in the screen shot shown in the linked thread. If you are inside that area, it should work. I am also at UHD resolution and still have this problem when working in the editor.
  10. I have a similar issue. From what I have found, the base editor simply does not work with UHD screen resolutions. You can only place objects within the "box" that is from the left side of the screen to about center of the screen. Anything beyond that point will not work. Try only using the left side of the screen to see if that helps. I had posted a thread about this a while ago but I cannot seem to find it now. EDIT: Found the thread. See if this may help you.
  11. Why? You have no idea who those players are. Honest question - how many times does everyone feel is appropriate to repeat the same story content before it becomes boring and repetitive? Should Vets with multiple 50s in every AT still be required to play non AE content only?
  12. Sure everyone starts with a cheap build, inside or outside of AE. I think the point was that you continue to improve your build and once you can afford a better one, you upgrade with better enhancements. At least that is how I understood it.
  13. Like so many others here, I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Gustafson, better known to us here as @Heraclea. Those of us that knew him can tell you he was a kind and decent soul with great passion for so many things in life, this game and community being among them. From his volumes of forum posts over the years offering advice, selections of music, discussing literature and language or funny anecdotes to his role in leading teams for TFs, Hami Raids and the ever popular Tanker Tuesdays, his loss will be felt by all. Hera was truly a rock upon which this community is built. He will be missed. Like others who have had their characters immortalized in game, I cannot think of a more worthy memorial for his main character of Heraclea than inclusion into the world of City of Heroes as a permanent fixture in Cimerora. It was one of his favorite zones in game and the ITF being one of his favorite TFs, it seems the best place for Heraclea to stand watch. I think it would be a wonderful homage to his memory and a tribute to someone who brought so much joy and passion to so many here. I humbly request that the Homecoming staff consider this. Thank you.
  14. This is my experience as well, and I could spend the next several hours filling up this thread by typing out examples I have encountered. I have seen more than my fair share across the entire spectrum from brand new right out of the tutorial players who cannot understand basic play concepts to obtain the Cadaver Counter badge in DFB to veteran players with over a thousand badges who do not understand how to get places or what certain abilities do. Totally agreed. Using this as some kind of benchmark for player worth is not only narcissistic and arrogant but ignorant as well. Completely agreed.
  15. You would lose any badges you had earned. Other than that I agree, just re-roll.
  16. I do not think either is really needed to be quite honest. I would not be against having a level 50 token that gets unlocked through acquiring certain badges and stuff by actually playing the game, however even that is more work than just using AE now.
  17. That was my point. I do not necessarily disagree with regard to XP or inf, however those are not the only rewards in the game. To my knowledge, you cannot farm the various NPCs in AE that are required for defeat badges to unlock certain Accolades which grant all manner of buffs, no matter how much farming you do in AE missions. I am not so sure there is less of an investment. If you peruse the various build forums, some of the shared builds for fire farming are quite expensive, especially those that are including multiple complete Winter IO sets. I have spent less on my scrappers, tanks and brutes that I run outside of AE and there is not really anything in the game at +4x8 that gives them any trouble.
  18. Several of my characters had no issue blowing through content even after ED and GDN, my Regen scrapper being the primary (and most infuriating) exception in this instance. Once I made adjustments, I could go on playing as I did before. I do not know what characters you had, but many of my scrappers and brutes had no problems burning through NPCs outside of AE. Maybe it is just me, but I believe that any well planned build regardless of AT really has no issue farming Council maps outside of AE.
  19. You were able to build essentially immortal characters prior to IOs and AE ever existing.
  20. To be honest, I stopped reading your reply after this. As I said, people are farming all kinds of maps for all kinds of things and none of the anti-farm crowd seems to bat an eye. I seriously doubt that the original Devs intended for "normal" maps to be used to farm for defeat badges, xp or whatever. Anyway, you go right ahead and label me as one of those evil farmers if that is what makes you feel better, even though you really know nothing about me. It is more than abundantly clear you are one of those narcissists who steadfastly believe how you define how people should play is the "right way". From my experience, there is no rational, civil discourse with anyone like this, so good day to you. You can build and fine tune characters that essentially cannot be killed by any NPC outside of AE.
  21. I do remember them trying to ban accounts for power leveling, but that was done before AE as well as I recall. I also still say that farming existed since day one of the game, so to blame AE as the root cause of farming is not accurate. At least to me, using AE for farming is no different than farming prior to the introduction of AE. The PI portal missions that people used for farms before AE still exist in game today, so even if AE were to disappear tomorrow, players would just migrate back to those maps and farming/power leveling would go merrily on. People are farming all kinds of non-AE maps for defeat badges to unlock accolades and such.
  22. I am not defensive at all. I am just pointing out that saying AE is being "misused" by farming is not accurate. Nor is changing XP in or removing AE going to solve the issue many people perceive it to be causing. There is a select group here who seem to believe AE is the big bad boogeyman ruining the game. It is not, nor has it ever. As I said, people farmed long before there was an AE and there is still a large amount of farming done outside of it to this day.
  23. Synapse and Citadel could benefit from a makeover in my opinion. Both are just dreadful slogs with all their "defeat all" maps.
  24. Maps that were (and still are) used for farming before AE even existed were not intended as farms either, but people still used them as such. People use non-AE maps for farming all kinds of things. You see these being advertised on a daily basis in LFG. Really just about any mission can be farmed, so should we eliminate every single mission in the game? I do not think the developers from back in the day were so naive as to think no one would create farms in AE. Did they do things to curtail it? Sure, but that was when the game was a for-profit venture and they had a vested interest in player retention for financial reasons. That no longer exists here. I would also say again, removing AE will not eliminate farming nor will it do anything to improve player competency. I completely understand some people take issue with farming in general. There is nothing wrong with that, however I do believe people should not begrudge others who enjoy farming. If that is what makes them happy and what keeps them playing, then more power to them. If you do not like it or do not want to hear from people looking for farms, use the ignore feature to ignore them. You will never have to see their chat again.
  25. AE can be totally removed from the game and it will not serve to improve player competence at all. As I have said in other threads, I personally have encountered far more people leveling their low level characters who have no clue what they are doing than I do people who are playing known PLed characters. Removing AE would not stop farming either. People will just go back to farming Council radios or other maps that were used prior to AE being implemented. Farms existed long before there was an AE, so calling farming in AE and "exploit" is being melodramatic.
