See "Why would SuperGuy just ignore Villaindude running around?"

Some of us *do* care about that sort of thing.

Welp, while that makes sense, I am not one of those. I see less black and white and more of the shades in between.

As such I see no problem with being able to support the on going conflict while not having direct pvp. Call it avoiding escalation.

  2. So, you need a little 'startup capital'..

Typically I only offer funding opportunities to players who start a character in Mercy. I bang the drum and hand out some infamy.

    Why? I have my reasons.

Also, I get it: If only you had a bit more funding, what could you do? What could you accomplish?

Well, here's your chance to potentially receive an incredible sum. What an amazing offer! Don't miss out.

Here is the easiest method I've seen:

    1.  You send an in-game email to @Yomo.
    2.  Receive an in-game email with up to 100M.

    That's it.

How to send an in-game email:  If your Chat window is not open, press "C" to open it.  Across the top tabs that start with "Team", "League", etc.  Click on the tab that says "Email".  The window that now opens has two captions "Inbox" and "Character Items".  Click on Inbox and hit the "New" button.  For To: input "@Yomo" without quotation marks.  Write something, anything, in the subject line, like 'Yomo is the Best' and something in the main text box.  Hit send.

    Rules:

    • 100M will only be sent to those who send an in-game email. No tells, no forum messages, no messages outside the game.
    • One entry per player.
    • It may take a couple days to receive the reply email.

The time has come at last (Secret, secret, I've got a secret)
The problem's plain to see (Secret, secret, they've got a secret)
Yomo has waaay too much in-famy

    ...

    Domo arigato, Yomo dogato.
    Domo..
    Yomo
    ..

    azU.gif

Note: Sometimes the in-game email system can screw up.  Occasionally an email that was apparently sent over a year prior pops up.  If you don't receive a response in a couple days you're not being ignored. In fact, if you send another email a few days later because you haven't received anything yet, @Yomo won't mind at all. : )

Similar offers can be found at: Yomo's Whizbang Potpourri Extravaganza of a Giveaway!  and Yomo's New and Improved Bang-Up Salmagundi Spectacular!!!

Also Note: Troo is not Yomo, Yomo is not Troo, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.

Full credit to Yomo for their generous giveaways which I have linked to in this post.

I take no credit for this opportunity and am merely pointing players to a known resource for funding.

There's just not a *threat* in Siren's Call that would get the two sides working together that I can see. What happened, happened already. There's just a question of profit, finding Randall's lost treasures, or blueside investigating (maybe to clear up exactly what happened with Sunburst.)

Why would the sides have to work together?

It could simply be a hazard zone. Same zone it is right now but no direct PvP. It's the ultimate street sweeping.

Content could run off intelligence gathering, espionage, saving innocents who are caught in the middle, third parties taking advantage of the situation. There is a lot to work with.

    Siren's Call:
    Side: Hazard Zone

    Threat: War.

Doing some sort of "redside XP boost" doesn't mean people will be playing redside, or enjoy redside. They'll see the gull in Pocket D and get farmed up, just like they do when they want the patron pool powers - hop over, get what they need, hop back. Those are tourists, not redsiders.

A subtle incentive that encourages any percentage of players to take a look at Redside wouldn't really hurt...

Redside is a bunch more content/zones/etc just sitting there to be capitalized on.

Boosts are simply levers and therefore require less effort than significant changes. (Easier to walk back also)

  5. Atlas is an easier zone and has more population.

Nearly everything in Atlas is at least a little easier. One or two, probably would be no biggie, but it is currently many things and they seem to add up.

    • How many badges can a player get in Atlas before being exposed to any danger? More than in Mercy.
    • Can a player get to Pocket D without risking damage?
    • Connections From Atlas: Normal Paragon City zones, Sewer Network, Recluse's Victory, Rikti War Zone, Fort Trident, Pocket D
    • Connections From Mercy: Normal Rogue Isles zones, Pocket D
      • No access to Sewer Network, Recluse's Victory, Rikti War Zone, Fort Trident
    • Zone transportation and tunnel transit are easier to get to and barely skirt any potential enemies.
    • The P2W is right near the main trainer.
    • Note: The base access portal in Mercy is closer to the spawn point.

Putting together Atlas being an easier zone and it having higher population, and it's not hard to understand why more don't play Redside.

Very similar to the current server experiment. (having lower population servers give more XP to incentivize people to play on them)

We are seeing that population trumps increased XP for a lot of players.

Mercy in its original iteration felt right. You're a nobody, sprung from gaol by Arachnos and given the chance to make it in an arena where the winner takes all. You're "special" - one of Recluse's Chosen Ones. That's not even remotely obvious in the new zone content. In the current Mercy you're just one of many

When I came back to Homecoming I was so confused - why do we skip half the zone?

and the zone is already out-leveled much more quickly than it used to be.

On the technical side of things, the phasing, spawn placements and speed-spawning by themselves objectively need work, they have no life or charm to them and create no memorable experiences.

On 12/31/2022 at 5:58 AM, nihilii said:

but I'm 100% with gabrilend in feeling like the flow has become weird and awkward. Old design made use of the core geography of the map and moved you logically, new design moves you in non-patterns without clear landmarks or progression.

Also echoing Naomi on spawns. Boy does it feel gimmicky to watch 2 longbows pop in front of you, slap them, then watch 2 more identical longbows pop up 20 feet away. This is the good old MMO sin that moves a game from immersive experience to theme park.

To-Hit buff, that would be unlocked if a player had at least 4 DO enhancements slotted, and a more powerful version of that ability if the power was 6-slotted with SOs?

    I get what you're saying. It's interesting.

A small bonus for committing to slotting without dealing with the huge number of IO sets.

It could serve as an introduction to set bonuses.

Twinshot's 'The Shining Stars - A New Day Dawning' is, in my opinion, simply painful for no good reason.

Considering that there are players that PL to 50 and then have no idea how to do basic things like use the tram, that tutorial makes sense to me.

for sure, it serves a purpose, but it still could use some QOL improvements and still help teach.

  8. The new player / new character experience could potentially use some improvement.

    Suggestions and discussion welcome!

Some early tutorials may be a bit dated or could use updating to the current game.

Getting a good flow on how to control a character, chat with other players, defeat enemies, use inspirations, level up, use vendors/trainers, p2w, slot powers, create recipes, use the market, Invention Origin sets, badges, accolades, merits, special salvage, travel between zones, and on, and on.

So much to learn when brand new and it's also the first impression of the game to a new player.

The Galaxy City tutorial I think is pretty good, others not so much. Some topics might have wonderful tutorials.

Twinshot's 'The Shining Stars - A New Day Dawning' is, in my opinion, simply painful for no good reason.

Flambeaux.. Request: Could we get a mission where we get to punish her in some way for being an awful human.. please.

Is there a comprehensive list of tutorials somewhere?

Let's face it the early game can be a bit repetitive with only a couple powers and no xp boost.

I'd be willing to put money on the DFB (Death From Below) being one of the most often played arcs/trials/taskforces.

As such, maybe a new early trial or refreshing an existing one that isn't played as much anymore could be an option.

    What say you?

I hope given the topic no one takes offense, if the game is not for me it's just not for me.

    No offense taken.

This is a big game and there are layers.

A big part of the game is choices and consequences.

    • Which powers to select, how to 'slot' them with enhancements, and when to use them.
    • Which enemies to dive into and which to be wary of.
    • Prioritizing accuracy, damage or endurance.

    There are 60+ zones/maps, https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Zone_Overview

There are dozens of of enemy groups across the zones with various strengths and weaknesses. (this can drive different tactics to stay alive and defeat them)

There are different ranks of enemies and different levels (purple = tough, run from purple early on)

There are thousands of hours of content someone can play or completely skip.

There are short missions and sweeping story arcs made up of lots of missions and tasks.

There are over 2,000 combinations of archetype and powers sets.

Early game is a bit repetitive with only a couple powers, around level 15 things start to get interesting and the world opens up a bit.

The website can help figure some of the stuff out: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Main_Page

To start I would suggest playing hero side first and doing the Galaxy City tutorial. (life will just be easier at first, I myself play villains)

Selections when creating a character and doing the Galaxy tutorial which can send you to hero side.

    image.png.a6c40e4a4251970bff9233274740a895.png

Finishing the tutorial as a hero should take a player to Atlas Park, there look for contact Matthew Habashy do his missions. Then look to join a DFB team (death from below trial) and do a couple runs. You'll level up get new powers and knock some heads in. Tell folks you are new and they will likely be patient.

There is a 'looking for group' channel where you can type in and announce "new player, level 2, looking for team' or 'new player just starting looking to learn the ropes' and folks will likely invite you to join their team and show you some stuff.

All kinds of player types can find niches that are almost addictive. Crafting, character building, marketing, number crunchers, socializers, smashing upclose, shooting from distance, control to defeat, support, base building, completionists, explorers, bug hunters, solo, team, forum trolls, pvpers, giant teams (called leagues), super group builders, event organizers, and on and on.

    -Good luck!

But for actual game play and design what does that mean? what is the benefit..
Again I get that other servers will be merged with ours and it means that there will be more devs as well.

More players. Through the merge and some actual marketing beyond 'pirate server'.

More content and somethings that maybe we had avoided committing resources to such as new animations.

Waiting for this to go through also delayed releasing some of what we'll see in the next release.

There is also the potential for some more backend improvements and potentially hosting options.

I agree with you in the hope that some legitimacy opens up the door to additional resources.
