Since Minerva is the Roman name for the Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, & Athena is traditionally shown with an owl on her shoulder, I was going to guess that it was a (really) poor rendering of an owl.  But if so, that is the poorest rendering of an owl ever. 🤷‍♂️

You too can possess the great shoulder owl of the crey. Many a foe has asked "where'd they get so many owls" just before the laser rifles open fire.

Returning players who feel entitled to certain extremely popular and unimaginative names deserve the mental anguish of not getting what they want for once. There is no reason for there to be 15 Ubermans on the same server, all insisting that they're the "original".

    ..and +1

  3. "You could make a team with a Tanker, a Brute, a Stalker, a Sentinel, and a Blaster. That's five ATs but it's not anything like five roles. It's NOT a "balanced" team, which is what they are trying to encourage."

5 different ATs alone is diverse.

"And the roles aren't fuzzy at all. They're very clear.

The ATs with Defense primary, as well as those with AoE Taunt and punchvoke, are Tanks.

The ATs with Melee damage primary, but without (or MOSTLY without) AoE Taunt, and without punchvoke, are Melee Damage.

The ATs with Ranged damage primary are Ranged damage.

The ATs with Control primary, as well as those EATs with specs that heavily feature control, are Control.

The ATs with Support primary, as well as those who support their pets doing most of their damage, are Support.

Sure, there are individual Power Sets that break these outlines, but generally they make sense. Standard ATs counting for their primary role, and EATs counting for all roles they CAN spec for makes sense. Not everyone likes it, but it makes sense."

Above is a pretty good breakdown. I don't agree with how cut and dry it is, but it is straight forward,

Above, however, does not match the game descriptions.

Corruptors twist the forces of the universe to do their bidding. As a corruptor, you might strike your foes down with blasts of fire, entomb them in ice, infect them with radiation, or curse them with pure darkness. As your foes are weakened, your scourge ability kicks in, increasing your damage to an enemy as their hit points drop. You can even impart a portion of your twisted power to your allies to protect them from harm, heal them, or increase the damage they deal. This wide array of abilities comes at a price. Your defenses aren't strong, and you can quickly attract the ire of your enemies if you aren't careful.

I guess it makes sense, folks at least tried it once.. here's your badge.

Still think the descriptions need to be consistent one way or another throughout the game and documentation.

Don't let folks think they are filling one role when they create and play a character, but have to fill a different role listed on one list somewhere... just my opinion.

I'll do some testing again and report back.

Having a Basic, Intermediate, and Expert power display option is only going to help people in the long run.

I agree all the information should be (and is) available for players who want to check out.

What CoH did with the power descriptions is add flavor and some context to basic information.

(for a detailed example: see Hack at https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=brute_melee.broad_sword.hack&at=brute)

    Spoiler

Again, the information is of how much use without context? Is damage 8.4 massive, or simply a tickle?

...and absolute numbers can be misleading:.

Cast Time is tricky -vs- Arcanatime -vs- Rooted Time -vs- Animation Time Before Effect

Other variables between powers which folks might care about could include Accuracy, Ranges, Damage Types, Hold Time, Hold magnitude, Sleep, Fear, Slow, -ToHit, etc...

Personally, for power information, I'd like to see animation time be a described in that same block of text. Using Hack as an example again, I'd format it like this:

    Damage: 1.64

    Attack speed: 1.33 seconds

    Recharge: 8 seconds

Giving players an idea of "this attack hits harder, but this one is faster" gives them the information to make a meaningful choice right off the bat, or they'll continue to ignore that description and pick based on the power icon like I often do.

Hopefully, you are selecting based on the power description rather than the power 'icon'.. I've never heard of selecting by icon. Icons do all have meaning behind them..

'Animation time' / 'attack speed' is shown in the same block as activation time, isn't it? Click on the image.png.83af0f2d95d067482962f8e860196c01.png

You are showing your preference, I get it.

However, what's important across archetypes can vary. (melee damage, ranged damage, controls, support)

Note: City of Data is great for detailed numbers. Here one link for Hack: https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=brute_melee.broad_sword.hack&at=stalker

However, do you feel giving vague descriptors to new players is going to ok? For some, maybe. For others, like me when I was new, it's a hell no.

Good vague descriptions are better at avoiding the nuances a player would need to understand to have a complete picture.

    Raw numbers can be misleading.

I'm not against values being available under the detailed info, but even with that information, a player has only parts of a more complicated formula.

I am certainly missing some damage considerations.

    • PVE vs PVP.
    • How defense and resistance effect damage.
    • Lethal vs Toxic damage. Damage types.
    • How the Area Factor works.
    • Chain powers.
    • Procs.
    • Pseudopets.
    • Enhancement diversification.
    • Damage caps.
    • Damage modifiers.
    • Damage boosts.
    • ToHit
    • debuffs

The discrepancy is a result of posts being removed.  One total accounts for them, because you did make them, the other total excludes them because they're no longer visible.

it's pretty clear sometimes 'content' count is used and other times 'post' count is used. the labels are not interchangeable.

labeling 'posts' while showing 'content' count is erroneous.

therefore you must be agreeing that either the label or the count is incorrect, and as shown it is wrong.

i didn't play it. Why? Because I hated the art style of the game.

Have you consider the possibility that updating graphics or changing the engine could change the visual style of the game?

Check out some of the COH2 efforts and you may not like everything you find.

I'd like to see the game made a little prettier.

I get wanting something to be prettier. Unfortunately, 'prettier' is subjective and could likely vary person to person.
