There are very many who game in MMO I have come across that tend to self identify as melee or ranged/caster. This mindset is especially true in sword and sorcery themed MMO I find. I have also found that here in CoH even back on live. Mainly it seemed to do with wanting a defensive set in their powers so tended to go with tank and scrapper in year one. Hence the term squishy tended to be an insult directed by those who saw themselves as the iron man classes and those who didnt take them must somehow not understand that being squishy is just bad. I am far more about killing my foes. Scrapper,blaster, brute, stalker, dominator, controller, PB, whatever, I make my toon first and foremost to win with their own powers. I can even take power sets Ive never played, an AT ive rarely played and I know within 3 respecs by cap Ill have my build tuned and know how to leverage the powers I have access to. For me the discomfort zone is when others expect me to sustain them( support) or just lock down mobs and sit back and watch( pure cc troller type). This is why I do tend to have a tone of mockery at times for some on these forums who seem to be unable to play or build basically anything without a guide or perfect meta build. To me needing guides, builds, meta data are not the tools of the good gamer, but crutches for the average gamer to try and keep up. To the OP funny enough I did a ill/time troller myself not long ago. Fun thing, abit less aggressive then i care for but the pets and my army of one perma PA tickles my fancy now and then. Since I have the right kind of first name all my PA have the same first name as my guy so it actually gets some comments from puggers applauding the use of an atypical ( but traditional welsh) name that allowed it. Honestly if they would just let the pool power attacks have abit better damage, and faster casting animations in the case of the ranged attacks like in sorcery, I think even those like me who favor doing dmg first could enjoy the less aggressive ATs abit more. I mean why make a new AT like sentinal when if we just took the leash off pools we could have some pretty near free form, damn fun and flavorful builds that would be effective rather then theme with no fury to back em.

With a few fly speed lvl 50 IOs in swift, and hover, you can get hovers speed up quite a bit if perfect control high speed slight is something you want. However the drif on flight is actually very useful to blasters as it can help you keep moving while blasting in fights were the baddy is dropping a aoe effect you want to get out of the way of.

Nope when I do decide to lead a PI radio team I always specifically ask for lowbies. Ill be running the leadership toggles, barrier, and have veng so I tend to be able to keep up most of the lowbies, and the one who ends up veng bait still is doing their fair share for the team. I mean I do usually start off at +1 or 2 just to let the team get a chance to feel each other out but once I feel the groovin it usually goes to +4, especially if more then me are running leadership toggles. Leadership imo is one of those pools many tend to take purely for a slot mule then ignore, never really grasping how powerful the multiplicative buff factor is in coh. A team with everyone running leadership is factors stronger than a team without. And no the team doesnt wipe, because I can solo it, and my barriar will res the first 2 to drop, ill of venged off one of those, and the rest of the team will be tanks. A leader takes a team of sidekicks and turns them into titans!

Well it should be, an MM in body guard mode was basically the devs vision for a red side tank, not the brute.

I did a pure melee human form PB that used the full pool then dropped the toggles and just kept the attacks once he got perma light form. Was pretty fun. also have a mind/martial dom Im plotting on taking the full line with for thematic reasons. Should be fun enough even if not very meta.

Like seriously what server are you on? If everlasting I will happily team with you, study you while we play, and offer advice on what I see you doing wrong for a blaster. A blaster isnt a tanker or scrapper, to front line like one takes a knack the vast majority who blast simply do not have.

What does this have to do with anything in this thread? You started out basically demanding major defensive buffs because your elec/elec blaster just cant survive. We offer advice on how to improve said elec/elecs build. You continue to persist that you just cant survive on a blaster so we say screw it, go sent. Now you say well sent has to use a rifle, when we are discussing elec blasting! Go make an elec/whatever sentinel and call it a day. Or whatever kind of sent.. Because at this point it seems like you are just all over the place, I wont even call it moving the goal post because at this point there is no goal, no field, no game. Just a guy out in a mud pit in the rain yelling at the sky to stop getting him wet and muddy. I dont care what power sets you use. A blaster is a killer. And the game has no magical secret super kill you dif happening. Maybe your getting caught by ambushes connected to a specific mish now and than. but if your at x1-1 than just know if your still face planting a lot, well its a problem behind the keyboard. but Ill be sure to zoom this toon I made to the 20s today, Ill wreck striga like always for sweet tasty merits and temp powers. I mean I genuinely cant even fathom a person struggling with a blaster after lvl 32. Not even before than with the current toughness of blasters compared to the old days.

Oh and to recap you want a power set that does high base dmg, causes a dot, a dubuff, and a self dmg buff as well. Is that right? Because like uhm wtf lol hell know J/ranger to oblivion and back again. Because it basically sounds like you want a set that would make every other obsolete.

There is absolutely nothing hard to imagine or have to make a real stretch to have a magic, mutant, or science gun. In fact modern pop fiction is loaded with them. Especially Anime shows. Ever see Darker Than Black? In season 2 of it we meet a girl whose strange almost magic like, mutation, caused by some strange science experiment gone wrong, can manifest from thin air a massive cannon of a sniper rifle. And yeah if I was going to give that girl an origin in coh I wouldnt know which of the 3 above fit best. In Marvel Iron Fist at one point used Chi Guns, magic guns that channeled his chi. There are stories of characters with sci fi guns, that draw DNA from their wielders to provide ammo that are basically cancer bullets used to kill alien monsters. Pretty sciencey gun imo. I mean asking for beam from hands, well your far from the first, even on live people wanted such, yet We never got any of the weapon sets to have a non weapon alt animation. Likely because well there are so many options for non weapon powers, and the ability to recolor them, that you should be able to make one work. Hell odds are even if they did what you want many would complain about having to do the BRs disintegration gimmick, which I encounter many who wont use BR because of, and get annoyed that the cool sci fi rifle cant just be straight forward like AR. Keep in mind, now your asking a volunteer team, to develop art assets for a single power set to have an unarmed variant, when the set is about being armed. I mean I was never a big fan of weapon sets being powers rather than just gear we use, but that is how coh has always done it.

Just for you OP Ive rolled a elec/elec blaster to feel it out afresh. So far from 1-10 it was as easy as pie. flying around zapping mobs down to dust like nothing. Just been street sweeping orange and red LTs and Bosses mainly.

This is very very true. Regen is already so good that the reason it cant simply be given to tanks is as is, with its current performance, added onto a tanks higher base HP alone would lead to something beyond OP, factor in a tanks higher %s with heal effects and it goes into mountains of madness levels of horror. Regen is good as is, and great if one wants it to be.

Yep because the Melee ATs the most powerful, best solo-ability, and all around strongest ATs are just so unfairly punished when they are so blatantly much easier out of the box to pick up and play then every other AT in the game. I mean do you hate mobs that have auras to because they unfairly punish melee?

I do understand the good intentions behind your post, but I simply can not say your idea would prove a positive one. If anything it would likely lead to people being reported for all sorts of paltry things. Look im one of those always standing up for sets that get hated on like Regen. I do certainly get tired of people acting like its something radically inferior to other sets when its far from bad or unreliable. However, I feel that the best approach is for you to simply interject and challenge others when you see them stating things in chat you feel are wrong. Better a healthy argument in help chat that may allow those curious to glean something useful, then let them only have the side of the haters. Ultimately all we as a community can do is try to be civil and helpful best we can, report genuine bad actors like those speaking outright racism and bigotry, or being verbally abusive etc to others when we see it. Funny enough the Rikti barely count as aliens, alter- dimensional earthlings from a culture that embraced scientifically alteration likely would be more accurate. The real alien invaders ironically are exactly the one seen in the screen cap. Kheldians. They can claim to be benevolent symbiotic energy based life forms all they want. I however see all kheldians as nictus ( both the RL me, and the way I approach the RP in game via ol berk and most of my other alts) You simply cant prove they dont consume the persons mind and simply know what they knew while pretending to be joined. I mean its not at all hard to imagine for example that seeing them in the ITF, that time lost vampyre and warwolvves could easily be the source of vampires and were wolves in legends. Who knows what wild ones left alone might have mutated into. Likely why the only real people I rp with with such concepts are either from other worlds or do draw upon the war wolves or vampyri for ideas for their origins rather than going the world of darkness.vampire the masquerade/white wolf route with such things and try to push those other games settings on top of cohverse. Uhm well pardon me but based on your claims, and continued complaints I will respectfully say you do not have it covered. You say its because you dont have sets, yeah nope dont need sets, they help but a blaster is just fine with common IOs and even DOs and SOs at the chill mid level range. Blasters have so many options now, so many tools to choose from to fill in weaknesses and be ready for almost anything. So at this point I am just going to say stick with sentinals kiddo, its clear they exist specifically for those who want to blast, but not have to stress over fragility.

I like to think aside from sometimes getting frustrated and slipping into LTP mode now and then we have tried to help this guy. But its becoming very very clear to me this guy doesnt want to adapt, we wants things to change to suit his own pov of what should be.

Frankly imo what you need is an in game mentor, and you need to kneel before them with no preconceptions, no attitude, now desire other than to learn at their feet. You seem far far to dependent on something like MIDS, something I know very few who I consider top tier toon builders bother to use. Finally give the frell up on this+4 x1 madness. A blaster is about mass murder. You should be training more at +1 or 2 at most and instead be working on upping your X factor imo. A blaster should be able to hand at least X4 solo imo.

Yep just the changes to snipes in general really helped every blaster primary, as no matter the base dmg type a snipe now always makes for a great part of any ST attack chain. Not to mention elec is energy dmg, which is highly effective against a broad range of foes, from clocks who show up across nearly all the games level ranges, to freaks who are for many a particular annoyance, to robots in general which exist in many factions.

Im fairly certain that in the span of the multiverse, with nearly infinite possibility, not one matches this guys idea of h Lets just say I did actually play just about every variation of blaster back in the day. Lets just say, that anyone who says that Tank is the standard rather than scrapper when it comes to the baseline for bad assery in this game needs to L2P. That back in the old days, the early days, the pre ED days, the pre IO days, blasters had it effing brutal. Debt cap was a way of life for blasters in those days. Saying its harder for them now is so far past ludicrous it hits full plaid. Pushed to a team? When i team on my blaster no matter the team comp I am carrying that team unless that team is made up of true top tier gamers/builds. Slow down and play carefully? Every group my drain psyche and nuke are ready to go. Glory be to the recharge king who can nuke every 30 seconds or so. Hell in a team I basically dont even have to think because all I have to do to carry my fair share is move in nuke, move on. leave the bosses to the scrapper or stalker to clean up. The rest basically are just tossing attacks for laughs and buffing to not be bored. Oh and then the way you end with I took this to discord where I got unanimous support for all my ideas and views line. Just wow man. No one here cares about the opinions of some phantom friends of yours. I mean look I can say I have the support of 10 trillion die hard coh fans on homecoming, doesnt make it true but I can say it. Speak for just yourself k lad. Because if you cant make a blaster that can do a lap around the storm palace, then you DO NOT KNOW how to blaster!

I think this right here is why you will simply not gain the traction you might be hoping to. The fact you use this phrase speaks volumes about how you see those people you view as less then yourself. IMO the dregs of humanity are those who rarely if ever face prosecution because their wealth renders them largely immune to prosecution.

You all may need to consider changing from GM to Saint as you all may well be as patient as one at this point.
