  1. Now you are pulling my leg...how does one do this?
  2. I'm a +1 to this...It seems like the data structure already there for it with the merits...would take some overhauling of how salvage is managed both in inventory, and during crafting, but seems like it's worth while...
  3. No way! Really? Cows in Perez Park...I started in Issue 2, and I am sad I never got to see a cow :(
  4. I knew you would straighten me out...Agree 100%... However until some enterprising coder comes up with this, I personally don't want to see our existing Development team work on this in lieu of other things. That's just my personal opinion, in a community that asks for opinions and feedback. And I have no problem with people who say they would prefer it over other things. But I would still kick the ball. Thanks Jubakumbi!
  5. [*]Setup Bind Files & Macro's [*]Visit P2W Vendor for Prestige Enhancements [*]Also at P2W get Free Powers, and Travel Power if appropriate for the character Concept [*]Visit the Tailor to create an alternate costume or body type if needed - most of my heroes have their secret ID's or 2 different costumes [*]Jet around Atlas and get all 8 exploration badges for 5 Merit Rewards. Also let's me play around with my powers since I skipped Outbreak
  6. There is not a pause or timer function for binds or macros...I wish...
  7. Sarikvaster - can you confirm just for giggles that you have Homecoming.exe and the rest of the installation in your D:\COH?
  8. It was all stuff after the "AND" that I screwed up on this step (I didn't create the customwindows folder)...It's working fine now...You earned your +1 Inf.
  9. The "Echo" zones are the zones as they existed before a major revamp, like Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Rikti Crash Site, Dark Astoria, and Faultline. You can access them by going to Ouroboros. The Echo Teleporter at the west end of the compound behind the main building allows access to Echo zones
  10. I agree with almost everything you just said, but I do think we need to hear HC say if you build it, we will consider it. They are asking for volunteers to do tasks for them. So for right now, it's still the classical hierarchical model. I've yet to see a Dev say - "run with that". What I do agree with is, once they open it up to player's contributions, there will be an explosion of story arcs, costume parts, AT's, powersets, etc, etc, that will be unbelievably awesome. So I think we both agree on the model, we both agree the model is good - where we differ is that you believe it's already happening and I have yet to see it, so I don't yet believe it... But I would still kick the ball
  11. Or, a movie where a male hero is manipulated by a male villain into betraying his male friend, who retreats from civilization in fear and/or shame until he can find the (male) offspring of his former friend and encourage him to kill his own father to redeem them both. It's all in the spin. Or before he is overtly influenced in movie 3, he is overtly influenced by his mother's death in movie 2, which is what starts his fall to the dark side (which is why QuiGon says "No" in this scene). I don't disagree that the emperor isn't also influential, just that are 2 examples of the additional tropes in that movie as well. That's not spin...My 2 examples are definitely in movie and definitely used to "grow" the character. We can round and round on the example train...No one every wins the example train, because a trend or bias doesn't mean that there aren't examples of both bias and non-bias...just that one category outweighs the other... Edited for crappy use of the the Quote function on my end...
  12. A movie where the male hero falls to the darkside because he is afraid of his wife dying, and his partner does not show any discernible growth between movies 1 thru 4.
  13. We good. :) I just think that things like 'opportunity costs' fly out of the window in this instance, because no corporation to feed, it's all Art and Passion which cannot be turned into a factory. IME. The whole point is that the whimsical/practical/interesting changes and additions will all be passion projects and therefore not really exclusive of each other because while at some point the resources are finite, comparatively they become infinite - Inc. vs. Crowd Source. So, when I see anyone discouraging anything, an _addition_ especially, that in no way seems to be breaking to the core game (not Fortnite), I have to ask why they don't like Fun. :) Opportunity Costs, ROI, Market Penetration - that's for retail games, IMO. We have like 100k passionate players, many of whom are good geeks, so I just don't see resources as the issue. Passion for each thing is what has to be built, if there is something you want. So, it's no longer Us and 'the Devs', it really is, just Us. I hate all Fun that isn't Fun the way I want to have it!!!!!! (100% j/k) Art too has opportunity costs - "Art is never finished, only abandoned." Leonardo da Vinci. At some point you say - good enough, and move onto something else, just so you can do something else... And the Dev's have been good about asking the community what they want...so I feel comfortable saying I don't want that...How else will the dev's know how to gauge the community's passion? You bring up a good point about Crowd Sourcing more and more of the game, and I like that. And I would never complain about any crowdsourced suggestiong using an opportunity costs argument. Truly that is the ultimate community passion project. But asking for volunteers to work for the Dev's isn't quite the same as crowdsourcing. In crowdsourcing you tell the crowd - send us all your stuff and well see what we can do with it, and that hasn't happened yet. Instead they have volunteers that they give tasks to, which means it's still being run like a development team. Maybe it should, maybe it shouldn't, but for now since a few people are setting the priorities for the many, it's an opportunity cost game. But I would love to see us get to the crowd source model...that would make this game explode in ways that even the original dev team couldn't imagine. There would be a lot of competing projects and some that are in direct opposition to each other, so in some ways it would also magnify the drama as well...I need to think more on this... But I would still kick the ball
  14. If you're suggesting this is a bias that only or mostly male writers have, I suggest you read more. ;) Well, that's true - it's not just male writers. But Gail Simone's point was that in her industry, males dominate the writing, as they also do for Hollywood. So more to the point, that's where the trope really applies - Movies/TV/Comic Books...
  15. I thought I remembered being able to ride on vehicles too. Still not sure if it's just wishful fantasy
  16. But he says that Harris being mentally ill isn't the issue so why would a relevant example of a person being killed for someone else to get their relative shit together require mental illness to be a factor? Or why would the example require the victim/perpetrator gender difference matter if we're to be discussing how NO ONE should be the victim for ANYONE else's respective character growth. The problem is, if one actually does expand this to non-gendered specific examples, we'll discover that using death as an emotional tool or catalyst is common. Biases start to paint a subjective picture of how those tropes interact. It requires a bit of self awareness to notice, but when you start reflecting about your own biases, you'll figure out counters to your own perspectives. I'm a little lost - but I think you are moving in a more positive direction here, so I like it... He said that Harris was mentally ill...So if you reverse the example, you still need to leave that element in, regardless of whether that's the offensive part or not. In fact that would be part of determining where the real bias is. So his reverse example is the perfect reverse example. I'm a little lost on what you are saying on the second part here...Are you talking people in general? Or in writing? People in general absolutely use death as an emotional catalyst regardless of the gender of either party. That's 100% correct. In writing however, there is a gender bias to not have a man grow from another males death, or to have a man grow from a living woman who can provide emotional growth. In writing, there is bias to have the male hero grow due to severe damage to or death of a woman he cares about. The bias isn't about men hating women...It's just a bias that man have in storytelling. As you say, it's a trope...And tropes are often a sign of lazy or bad writing.
  17. Would be hilarious. Especially with 'settings'... Preferences, check all that apply: Large Groups Small Groups Min Maxers Righteous Indignation Build Nazis Current Number of Different Costume Parts On Screen KB Procs +1 to this suggestion!
  18. I hear you, and I stated earlier (twice now) that this is a passion project for the developers. The burger analogy was just expressing how someone can be given something that is not bad for them, and still be disappointed...And I think you know I wasn't saying that HC is a burger factory. So you've never been disappointed in art? Never watched a movie that you were disappointed in? Never a read a book that you didn't like? Never invested in something that is classified as art, and found that the investment fell short of expectations? I find that very hard to believe, but if it's true, that puts you in an extreme minority of people. And if you are in that minority, just be aware when posting that you represent an extreme viewpoint. The quote was directed at anyone in particular, it was just the most recent example of many people saying NO to an idea. And no where did anyone suggest that while they don't think it's a good idea, just let the Dev's be Dev's and do what they want? Specifically, just from your quote above, you are assuming how people will respond to something that hypothetical the dev's might do. All I am doing here is responding how I would actually feel. Which is disappointed...But I would still kick the ball. Actually that is exactly how life works...It's called opportunity costs. And every good programming team I have ever worked with in the last 20 years would tell you the same thing...If I do X, I can't do Y, so which do you want more? Which brings me back to what I have said since my 2nd post here - The Dev's can do what they want. I am not their customer. This is their passion project, not mine. I play in their sandbox because a.) I want to, and b.) they let me. Jubakumbi - I know you aren't trying to start something with me, and that we banter. Please know that I am likewise not trying to start something. I do feel singled out on this post by you and PK and I am unclear exactly why, since I have never said No or /Jranger or -1 to this idea.
  19. You're being obtuse making the qualifiers so narrow when your initial objection has nothing to do directly with mental illness and you've merely pojected a gendered objection when you still have yet to prove it was intentional. He said many times in his original post that mental illness was clearly the reason that Lt Harris was behaving the way he was. And gender bias doesn't have to be intentional to be present...Nor does any bias...In fact, many of them are unintentional. Specifically, that's how many male writers responded to the Women in Fridges articles, they acknowledged a previously unknown to them bias in their writing. I don't think ANYONE thinks that the original writers were malicious in writing this in the first place...That would be projection...
  20. I think the pushback here is the idea that this mission is targeting a woman because she's a woman. As opposed to just using a fairly standard human relationship (male and female) and using that as a basis for the content. I suspect many are skeptical that anyone would be raising flags if the sexes were reversed. Also, regarding race, I beat up ethnic minority Skulls all the time. Is that racist? Or is acceptable because they just so happen to be minorities? I agree EggKooKoo...that's what I said in my first post here...I don't think this story is about attacking her based on her gender. My response was specifically to rationale of the poster I quoted - we don't put content in the game just because it's evil. But the whole gender reversal doesn't work here, because while that might be true, what is factual is what MrCaptainMan said - there is a huge bias in movies, comics, television to use a woman's death to grow the male protagonist. And while there are a few examples of the reverse, they are, by comparison, an oddity and rare. And guess who writes most of those films? Men. So it shows a gender bias and Gail Simone's article was a great spotlight on the issue and has caused a lot of people to rethink how women are used as plot devices... And sorry, I am just not getting the Skull reference...
  21. I read it...I remember buying that very issue of Green Lantern. I remember Gail Simone coming out with the topic in the first place...Like I said, I don't think misogyny was the issue, Gail was more pointing out a gender bias that exists. I think this story arc is an example of it. Still don't think the Dev's should rewrite it...there is bad writing all over the place, and I'd rather see new content than rewrites of existing ones...
  22. Well...To be fair, virtue writing is all on the blueside...However, there is a line that's drawn in the game - it's OK to pretend to do bad things, but to a point - we don't have child molesters (even though that happens), we don't target groups based on race or religion (that happens every day) and we shouldn't target women, just because they are women). I don't think that's what's happening in this particular storyline...but I don't think we need to say that just because shitty things happen in real life it's ok to put them in the game.
  23. And my suggestion to someone who wants to make suggestion, would be to put it in the forums, right here, in the suggestions and feedback section. All suggestions here have subjective standards...nature of the beast!
