  1. I've noticed that with two exceptions, every PuG, and TF I've been on has been more focused on moving thru the mission quickly than bantering along the way. It might have always been that way, even on Live, and I just don't remember it, but I definitely wish I was on more teams that would move a little slower thru the content and spend more time role-playing (or hell, just chit chatting) than tank/blast/buff, lather, rinse, repeat... Just a wish, not an opinion or commentary
  2. I'm not sure (haven't tested it), but there might be a char limit for macros...or a limit to the # of arguments I've done some that worked the first time, but upon re-edit, part of the macro is missing, or it just doesn't function correctly anymore. In those cases, I've removed an argument or text and it's worked fine... This is anecdotal evidence, so take it with a grain of salt. Hopefully there is someone more knowledgeable on the subject...
  3. Sentinel is a creation of the SCoRE team (Issue 25)...it wasn't ever in Live or Beta...
  4. Bullshit. That last bit, I mean - the "no accusation or implication" one. That's the bullshit, there. Because, if you didn't want to imply things about those of us who do like to make adolescent (or even younger) characters, then why even bring it up? It really just reads as you being a douchebag who assumes everyone else is on the gutter-stinking moral LOW ground. People bring up all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons...Unless you have actual psychic powers, please don't ascribe motives to people based on what they are not saying. Why is it so hard for some people to just assume good intent until they know there are actual statements to the contrary. And I'm certain that those people who are ready to assume all these things about another are fully prepared to have every statement they have every made scrutinized for some hidden meaning?
  5. I'm always +1 for new powersets...
  6. That is weird. Have you put in a support ticket? They might be able to figure out what happened, and more importantly, help you get the Global you want... https://support.homecomingservers.com/
  7. They still do, but the legality of most existing patents prior to 2014 is certainly debatable, and the standards for new ones are much higher. You are right Munkilord, that it would be more difficult to proceed on a software patent case, than a software copyright case.
  8. Likewise...going from mission map to Steel Canyon...game froze...
  9. Translocation is the name of the power, not sure if you can bind to it or not...
  10. Shinobu - thanks for the chuckle - +1
  11. There is no need to - Just go to https://forums.homecomingservers.com/account/ and enter your game account name and a new password
  12. No intent to be negative...I'm all for player choices and Quality of Life improvements. I just noticed that the proposed solution was more complicated than it appears at first blush... So my question to you, for fair perspective and given the limited resources of development here, would you want this change more than a new Powerset? a new Archetype? New Story Arcs? New Costume Pieces? It may be that you feel yes to all of those, and I won't say you are wrong, just that I wouldn't agree with your priorities...
  13. It is really, really slow loading...But it always has been. PK's working on a fix for that...
  14. Are you being serious? I really can't tell. If your experience is valid, then numbers shouldn't be that hard (or at least find someone with numbers). And "Fix it"? These are volunteer developers with full time lives...Maybe a please?
  15. Not that I am aware of...I am often wrong, but try not to post if I think that's likely...
  16. They started the SMLLC so they could keep separate the Homecoming stuff from their own personal selves...Homecoming Servers LLC still keeps them anonymous to us, and it could, in theory shield the damages they would liable for. To my knowledge they haven't actually started a non-profit yet (It isn't as long, hard, or as expensive as they are making it sound), so "in the process" is pretty vague. And to my knowledge, it was COH Titan that was talking to NCSoft about licensing or purchasing the IP, not Homecoming. Now both of those preceeding statements are "to my knowledge"...you may know more that you are able to share, you may know more that you aren't able to share...so I'm not trying to argue about what they are/aren't doing. I think what they are doing is without precedent, and as long as they feel shielded legally, then if the whole thing gets shut down tomorrow, they are right back where they were before with a secret server and a much smaller player base. I'm not trying to be alarmist here, it is what it is...apart from not actually forming a non-profit yet, I think HC is doing a great job...I gave in the last round, and I think their strategy of capping the funding is the smartest play to not intentionally draw NCSoft's ire. I just don't think anyone playing here should have their eyes closed or hearts broken. Like I said, you might as well play now, since we have no idea what the future will bring...
  17. The problem is that a keybind runs so quick that the computer would just do the last of whatever 3 powers you put in the bind. There isn't a way to activate 3 powers (any 3 powers) with a single bind. The best you can do is sorta 2, but that involves turning one of the powers into an autofire power. and still is only 2 powers. I know you can deactivate multiple powers at once, but not sure if you can do 3 there either...
  18. For what it's worth, I can confirm the Dev Tracker is up and live on my PC. I realize that doesn't mean there isn't some propagation configuration issue elsewhere...
  19. You can always right click on the leader and set them as a waypoint. Shows in the Nav and Map, as well as on camera...
  20. Seems like the post should be called - "Game flaws make my marketeering more difficult" Just removing the hyperbole...
  21. Probably not as a macro, but you could do it as a bind (work of a keystroke or mouseclick instead of a button on the power tray) Create 3 .txt files...and for convenience put them in the data folder where you have CoH installed. I'll call them Fly here Fly1.txt = "CTRL+NUMPAD1 "CCE 1 [costume emote here]$$powexec_toggleon Fly$$bind_load_file fly2.txt" Fly2.txt = "CTRL+NUMPAD1 "powexec_name Hover$$bind_load_file fly3.txt" Fly3.txt = "CTRL+NUMPAD1 "CCE 0 [costume emote here]$$powexec_toggleoff Hover$$bind_load_file fly1.txt" then create a bind for the first scenario - /bind CTRL+NUMPAD1 "CCE 1 [costume emote here]$$powexec_toggleon Fly$$bind_load_file fly2.txt" Now whenever you do CTRL and "1" on the Number pad, it'll cycle thru what you just described And away you go...let me know if you need more info
  22. Jack, that would suppose I would be a party to suit, and I would not be, I’m neither running a private server nor do I have any relationship to the IP holders. And the above are tenets of the law, and almost certain outcomes, but none of which is a strategy. Nothing here that NCSoft doesn’t know already
  23. There are three parts to IP here: 1.) Trademark - name, slogan, symbol, device used to market the product. They are usually for 10 years, but you do have to proactively prove continued use of the Trademark for it to be renewed...It's quite possible that the Trademark has run out...But for City of Heroes, that's likely just the words "City of Heroes". If they haven't lost the Trademark, which was last renewed in 2012, then they likely would need to make a move soon to protect it... 2.) Copyright - The actual source code as the game sunset in 2012. These last for decades, and are automatic. NCSoft doesn't have to do anything to defend it. The own the Copyright free and clear. And there is no way that HC could defend against a copyright suit, they know/admit that the software came from NCSoft, and it's certainly not been sufficiently modified since 2012 to claim it's a derivative work... 3.) Patent - you can patent software processes (maybe the Character Creator, Combat, Zone Rendering - I don't know if any specific patents were filed specifically, but I would be surprised if none were). Patents run for 20 years and then move to the public domain. That would mean that the earliest a patent would run out would be 2024. Again, HC would have no defense for Patent Infringement if that's the case As far as targets go, NCSosft doesn't have to sue every single private server in existence to make a case...It could just sue all the servers that are being so public. And the fact they are so public makes them easy targets to find and file suit against. It's the same thing that's happened with File Sharing and Music Sharing sites...They didn't sue everyone in existence, just key players to make the point...at that point a simple C&D letter does a pretty good job of scaring everyone else into making the idea of Homecoming (a big public server where anyone can join) into very small private servers were you would have to know someone to get on, and populations would be very low. There is precedent - Blizzard went after Private Servers sometime back. It's not exactly the same, but similar enough. Abandonware only applies if the IP holder not longer exists (company dissolves, individual dies and has no heirs, etc). I've heard it to, and it's bogus... The threat is real...however TL;DR - It's a real issue, but what have you got to lose by playing? The game went away in 2012 and nobody's world went crashing down. If it goes away tomorrow, then I can safely say I had a good two months with it that I would not have otherwise had. Life is short, enjoy what you can while you can, and no amount of worry is going to change how this plays out...
  24. I'm guessing it's this? Never heard of it before...Sounds like Minecraft Creative Mode - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry's_Mod
  25. My dad who got out of the Navy in the early aughts (2001ish), complained about still having to use these bad boys ON HIS NUCLEAR SUB: What is that? A coaster? Some kind of Floppy coaster? Unlike many Disk shaped coasters, it's more squarish...
