  4. I can't, won't and cannot speak for Redlynn but my own anecdotal experience with Grav/Traps has been to open with Wormhole(tm) first. The reason being, it doesn't cause any aggro! Which is great because Wormhole(tm) has a rather long and unsettling animation time that used to get you Alpha'd by mobs before it would affect mobs. So, typically, I'll open with that and either aim to hold down mobs that were missed with Wormhole(tm) by using Gravity Distortion or hit a Boss-Level mob with either Crush or Lift (assuming no KU protection) to keep them from getting within melee range. If I'm feeling cheeky, I'll first set up a Trip Mine and Caltrops patch to Wormhole(tm) my enemies into but it appears as if this won't be an option for you given that your secondary is /Time? On the Grav front, I like to use Crushing Field after Wormhole'ing the mobs to keep them tightly grouped. YMMV. The AoE Intangible, Dimension Shift by name, is visually stunning and situationally useful. I picked it up at 49 and just slotted it with a single recharge IO. It's nearly perma right out of the box so I think that's all you really need for it. It's a great tool for handling accidental aggro or as a stopgap control measure when your other tools are on cooldown and/or unavailable. It's also useful on the BAF if you're into Incarnate Stuff. It's been my experience that Grav is a wonderful Solo-Controller both in the early, mid and end game. With some decent recharge from IO Sets you can easily make it's single target ranged attack chain seamless. Crush (set up that containment & IMPACT! damage) > Lift > Propel + GD. The soft control of KB, KU and immobilize make juggling mobs a fun and effective set. On larger teams, I think my set pairing of Grav/Traps is a little too slow. Mobs are usually melted away before I can get through the animations of Wormhole > PGT > AM. On the plus side, people seem to enjoy the +Def FFG provides.

  6. Arg! You make it sound like it's a worthy inclusion. I respec'd last night and fully IO'd out and didn't include Aid Self. The good news, I guess, is that at soft-capped defense and some decent resists have made munching greens much more reliable. Not including a KB IO was a huge mistake. It doesn't happen often but man, it's super annoying when KB hits and I'm left flopping on the ground. I was able to get perma-hasten in the build. It's been a huge boon. This has allowed me to chain Shatter Armor > Bash > Shatter > Pulverise > Poison Ray > Bash > Shatter Armor. Not entirely sure this is the best DPS chain but it's working well for me so far. Haven't tried to solo any AVs yet. I'll update when I do.

Alright, after some recommendations here I've gone back to the drawing board and come up with the follow. -Softcapped to all positional defenses -70% resistance to S/L. 30% to other types. -93% Global Recharge (sad to whiff on perma Hasten) but should be enough to sustain DPS on an AV And now the bad... NO KB protection.   9. I had a variant of this back in the day. Now that IOs are easier to come by, I thought I'd go back and try once more. I'm questioning if I need Aid Self or not? I'll give it a test run.   10. Super quick question for the forum. I'm gonna roll a D3 Corruptor and was working in Pines to set up a blueprint. I wanted to work in Moonbeam (as snipes now apparently have fast activation w/22% ToHitBuff). With that being said, utilizing the 6% Kismet IO and a fully slotted Tactics (6 slotted with Gaussian's), Pine's is showing me a 21.8% ToHitBuff. Will this be enough to reach the threshold for fast sniping? Part of me hopes the game rounds up and it'll work? But, if not, how are you all getting fast sniping action on your corruptors?   15. The advise of Crushing Field is solid but I didn't take it in my build. Having one Endurance enhancement helps a ton in your frequently cast powers and once you have Chrono Shift things swing in the other direction and I was able to only have two slots in Stamina with IOs. First, thank you for the Gravity Info, Red. It's proven very helpful to me on my own journey with the set. I've been using your slotting for Gravity Distortion 2 Devs/2 Lockdowns/2 Hamis. It's fantastic and I recommend everyone slot their STH's with something similar. Now, as it concerns crushing Field... You're absolutely correct that it's an end hog. That being said, I've been able to spam it with regularity by 3 slotting Stamina +end proc/endmod/endmod AND 3 slotting Health with Miracle/Numina/Pancea. It's my personal belief that character lacks AoE damage and I want to spam the 2 procs I've got in there (Font and Gravity Anchors hold).

Having only just dipped my pinkie toe into the sublime combo of Ice/Atomic; I'd be REAL curious to know your thoughts on the paring. As of right now, I'm thinking long and hard about skipping either Bitter Freeze Ray OR Radioactive Cloud.   18. So here's the thing. Way back when, say 2005-06, I had me an Ice/Nrg "Arctic Assassin" build for strickly PvE purposes. It was an enjoyable ride on the debt train. Some real white-knuckle action and I mostly solo'd with him. Ice had the holds to get close and Nrg for the up close and personal pom poms 2thaf0ce. Nowadays, I was fondly remembering the good and not-so good times we spent together on Live and I found myself wanted to try it again. Well, almost anyways. I've been lurking these here forums for a spell now and read into some of the Blaster changes and new sets available to them. The Atomic Secondary available to Blasters had my curiosity and after looking at it more closely in Pine's; it now has my attention. Am I wrong in thinking it would make for a hardier blapper spesimen? As far as I can tell, the only thing it loses out to NRG is the excellent [[Power Boost]] and a foe -KB/-KD in Power Push? On the upside, you get a legit Build Up, what appears to be an awesome Sustain power, a host of -Def powers to sloe the Achilles Heel proc, Solid Melee Attacks, another 2 Holds and sick +Recharge power?!?! Has anyone tried this combo? Is there currently a better Primary set for the Blapping lifestyle I so crave? With the bevy of holds, is Bitter Freeze Ray now skippable. I recall it's long animation time but it also appears to have received a damage boost. What say you, blaster forums?
  19. As the eponymous title suggests; I'm seriously considering my first (and only) melee Dominator. After careful review of the sets, it soon became apparent that Earth Assault was liable to be my choice. With a whopping 6 powers that are either PBAoE or Melee in nature and from what I've read; a satisfactory "thud" with every attack. The choice of Primary Power set was a little more dicey and difficult. I had considered Dark (for the PBAoE disorient and nice AoE Hold) and Electric (Figured Conductive Aura would solve any End woes) but ultimately settled on Fire for Hot Feet, the PBAoE Hold and theme (going for a Koth of the Hammer-esque character for those in the MTG know). With that catharsis out of the way I was hoping to pitch some questions to the Dom field as it relates to this pairing. First and foremost... Hot Feet. It's looking like a toggle that requires copious amounts of endurance for what appears to be minor DoT, -movement and fear? If I were to get mezzed, would the power detoggle? Does it help prevent or mitigate damage or is it a taunt-like power that attracts mob attention? Anything specific I should know while using it? Now here's what kinda tickles my whiskers, Mud Pots. Is it a Hot Feet clone? Is it even worthwhile to run it along side Hot Feet. Or, should I just pick one or the other? It looks like they do similar things but maybe the 2 combined is epic enough to warrant to prohibitive endurance costs? The geek in me wants to run both but I realize this is... greedy. Anyone here have experience running both? Bonfire: From what I've read; I'll really want to find a -KB proc for this? Do you slot this thing for damage at all? Smoke: I had planned on running Super Speed w/the stealth IO proc.
  20. Haha, this is epic. Thank you for your response/input. I will say that I'm very tied to "theme" when it comes to my characters and as a result I've rolled an Elec/Elec/Mu and a Dark/Dark/Soul so far. Still very early in levels for both. I'm just not sure how I can RP a Dark/Rad/Primal. I'm sure there's a way. It sounds fairly awesome.
  21. So... I'm just learning that Dominators have access to Energy Transfer from the Primal Forces Epic Pool. I guess my question to the forums would be if anyone here has tried it on their characters. My concern is that our relative overall HP is too low for a self-damaging power such as ET. My only other experience with it was on my Issue 2 Tanker wayyyy back when. I do find myself wanting to roll a Fire/Nrg Assault Blapper after learning that we have access to it. That single target of TF > BS > ET + the AoE of Hot Feet and Imps is stimulating to say the least.

  23. Thank you Ery and Red for your heroic run down of the Gravity lifestyle. I think I'm going to have to come terms with the fact that I'll be a mild menace on teams and a touch slow solo'ing. Which is all well and good because I still rather enjoy the set. If you're willing, able and can find the time; I'd like to post a series of final builds for your review. The first is a purely defensive build that reaches the softcap for S/L & Nrg/N.Nrg with a little S/L resistance and solid global recharge. The other focuses on 75% resists to S/L and falls within a small purple for softcap to all but psi/toxic. The builds are exceedingly tight, forcing me to skip out on beloved powers like Triage Beacon, Caltrops, Time Bomb and Dimension Shift. Currently, I'm sitting at 36 and while on teams I'll generally open by super speeding + Celerity Stealth IO into a mob, plant Poison Gas trap then zooming back to cast Acid Mortar > Seeker Drones > Gravity Distortion > Propel. When solo, I'll open with seekers to take the alpha > Crushing > Acid > GD > Propel > Lift > GD till dead. Singy has been a controllers best friend while solo'ing. Especially while I'm mezzed. I'll get to work on the builds and post them back here. Thanks again for your help.
  24. Excellent, Fed! One of my goals for my Grav/Traps is to reach the S/L soft cap. FFG goes a long way towards this but helping my Singy with Maneuvers and FFG + the Pet Defense IO sounds like a good idea.
