  1. I don't like the powers. I don't think they fit the Street Smarts theme. Here's what I'd do:

    1. Money Clip. You throw this money clip with a 50-dollar bill on the ground, distracting your enemy, and giving you the perfect opportunity to run away.

    2. Signal Punch. You punch a hole in a nearby car trunk through the tail light, so that you can signal nearby motorists for help. This power can only be used on a tail light belonging to a car you're currently locked in the trunk of.

    3. Lying Kick. You fall to your back and kick at your target with your legs, dealing minor smashing damage. This power has a chance to throw your opponent off his rhythm.

    4. Effervescent Tablet. You chew an effervescent tablet you keep with you at all times, producing a foaming at the mouth effect that makes it appear as though you have rabies. All nearby foes will be thrown off their rhythm.

    5. Phone Book Bash. You swing a phone book in an arc in front of you, dealing moderate smashing damage to all foes, and possibly knocking them down. This power cannot bruise your opponents.

  2. This is my Ice/Ice Blaster. Nothing really special, I just put strong enhancements into my best powers. It does have 100% resistance to slows, though, which is both handy and thematic.

  3. I've run this 3 times now on an Ice/Empathy controller, and usually finish right around 20 minutes with just a stealth IO for stealth and without trying overly hard to speed run it. Plus I haven't quite memorized every map just yet. I failed at saving them both the first time, but the other two times I have been able to save them no problem. Pre-buffing my pet is the key I think. I also just peacefully negotiate with Hua to save a little time having to fight him.

The cave map is random. I use the reveal power from the p2w vendor on that one and makes it much easier. I just have to remember to talk to the guy at the door first. I'm really good at forgetting that step.

I'm getting better at this! I'm down to two super jumps into the cave before I remember I have to talk to Sigil at the entrance.

  4. Was doing a mission in the Rikti War Zone and I happened upon an invisible piece of geometry in the map. The map was SmoothCaves-Rikti_60_Layout_02, and the obstacle's location was -256.5 64 864.2.

Since I was on my ice Blaster, I was able to drop an Ice Patch on the object and see what it looked like:

  5. Shatter Armor in the Mace Mastery pool, available only to VEATs, could use an animation change. It's exactly the same as Shatter, a key move for Bane Spiders. If you take it on a Bane Spider, you'll have two moves with identical animations, which seems a bit silly given Bane Spiders only get equivalents to 4 of the 7 attacks from War Mace; there's no need to be repeating animations. What would be ideal is if it had the animation from Clobber. Statistically, Shatter Armor and Clobber are extremely similar. Clobber does a little more damage and costs a little less endurance, and recharges in just over half the time as Shatter Armor, all of which is pretty par for the course when comparing a power in an ancillary pool to the same power in a primary or secondary set. It's almost like Shatter Armor was made as an APP version of Clobber to begin with. In other words, I don't think changing Shatter Armor to use Clobber's faster animation would be unbalancing.

  6. While I'm not surprised to hear that the Jump Pack doesn't work exactly as I imagined, this makes no sense. There is nothing flight-like about what the Jump Pack does to the player while active. You move exactly the same as without, with the change that you can jump infinitely and initiate new jumps in the air.

you move up the vertical axis without limit

    that's literally what flying is

we might have some semantic disjunction.

maybe easier?  "Jump pack is neither jumping nor flying but a different mode of movement than either, just like Beast Run is not running."

That's not what flying is. Flying gives you unrestricted movement in 3 dimensions while ignoring gravity. With the Jump Pack you're either going up or falling down.

  7. All of this discussion makes me wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to entirely discard the notion of prerequisite powers for the travel pools. Would it really break anything to be able to take any of them in any order you choose?

Squishies could take Acrobatics for no investment.

  8. The tl;dr version of all this is that Jump Pack changes your character's behavior to act mostly like flying as long as you're holding the spacebar down.

While I'm not surprised to hear that the Jump Pack doesn't work exactly as I imagined, this makes no sense. There is nothing flight-like about what the Jump Pack does to the player while active. You move exactly the same as without, with the change that you can jump infinitely and initiate new jumps in the air.

  9. So I ended up not taking Shiver. I found that I could get much the same benefit from Snow Storm. But what really put the nail in Shiver’s coffin was that I realized I had the slots to put 2 Blistering Colds in Brawl and Ice Sword (which I took instead of Shiver). The two-slot bonus for Blistering Cold is Slow resist. That, Winter’s Gift, and all the other Winter Event IOs in powers I actually use gives my Blaster 100% resistance to slows, which is both thematic and useful.

  10. Ah, here it is. The old "super respec but only once per character" suggestion. I was wondering when we'd start seeing these threads again.

I am surprised it was never done in the original game, especially with how money hungry they were at the end, could have made a fortune if they offered it!

I'm not surprised it wasn't done, because it's a bad idea.

    It isn't a BAD idea...

It is a bad idea, at least the once per character aspect. Changing primary/secondary sets would open up its own can of worms, but the people who make the threads suggesting it almost always include the proviso that it can only be done once, as if that improves the suggestion, when it actually makes it much, much worse. People would use their one change, switch to something they also end up not liking, and end up in exactly the same situation.

  11. Even a Bio-Armor / Ice Armor "Minimal FX" option (which still have effects, just massively toned down) would be fine.  I love Rad Armor mechanically, but it's just so visually overwhelming, regardless of what colors I choose.

If Homecoming had the ability to create new FX, Rad Armor wouldn’t be using entirely recycled FX to begin with.
