if you like to play lots of Alternate characters I found a great way to save Inf is to make a personal Supergroup and invite all your Alts with /altinvite characters name then make a base with storage racks for IOs and invention salvage plus a crafting station. you can now put your lower level IOs in storage for new Alt characters when you do a respec. -
I would be interested in a new Archetype that uses dominator assault sets as their primary and support sets as their secondary. Probably with a break free clicky as their inherent ability and defender ancillary power sets. A Vanguard EAT might be fun too.

How about giving Heal Other the ability to affect an enemy with a -regen and/or -resist debuff? That way if the team is not being injured the Empath can make a contribution vs a tough opponent. I kind of think Empathy and probably Force Field could be given a slight boost in the debuff department to make them a bit less situational.

I had some issues too, in the end I picked up tough and weave and hasten, dropped the siphon attack. I use the first two attacks from Rad with the quick animations and the last AoE. The other attacks I found took to long animating for my taste on a brute. I also picked up Darkest Night from Ghost Widow pool and it has made a huge improvement, gloom is also pretty sweet.
