I think the question is wrong.

IMHO,  Controllers are boring but OPAF. You're trading "interesting" for "powerful".

    This really gets “to it”

last year I leveled a LOT of toons to low 40s-50.

My standard was 4DFBs, then all the TF/SF/Trials in order (ranked by last level of the content). This included a dark dark and ice ice controller. These things were able to make any team safe and control the battle like the top banana at the circus.  But, … never “felt” powerful.  On fast teams they were useless. (But so are my Brutes/Blasters unless i am also racing to objectives.)   But Controllers just hang with the team, sadly usually the less effective members, because that is where the most controlling is done.

Rarely do i agree with the Archetype write ups.  But the Controller one is pretty spot on

  2. Same thing happened to my old Tarterus.  So, because it is me….first i ignored it.  That worked for…a time.  Then i peeled the damn thing off and superglued it back in place.  This was not pretty, not fun, and not precise.  After weeks of random smear still drooling and dried superglue  particles migrating the thing settled into a cohesive slab.

    good luck 🤪

is this like get your badges in 12 hours once a year thing now?  If so, while planning who was getting the investment I missed out...

solved, the option disappears when you have them all.

I do have to admit I haven't run this one a lot.  I normally PUG based on what's on offer, but I don't see this one come up too often.  I think I've done twice as many Kattie H's as I have this one, easily, and bet those were only when the merits are boosted for the weekly rotation.  Do players hate this one?

Well, it is that they do not know it.  I may have mentioned that quite often someone does not know how to be successful on a posi 1.   Maybe not, I am an old creature and I forget. But it is true. Some people, and let us be kind and not call them stupid.  Because they are probably just well meaning, yet ignorant.  They screw up a relatively simple instruction in the last mission of Posi 1. They do not know it. They struggle to take in information.

Sutter is rarely ran.  By the time you go in to fight the AV in the 1st mission the team is usually split and whoever is in there with you likely does not know the fight.  Leads to interesting times…

You make this sound like a Post 1!  I've never been on a team that had any problems there.  Now, I may have foolishly tried to take the alphas from and then defeat a few War Walkers by myself, but in there there?  No problem.

do we play in the same universe?

    Just a quick question:

I am finally doing Admiral Sutter for the first time. The first mission mentions (optionally) shutting down 8 fuel lines.

I would like to do it, but I can't find them. I have flown all over, spamming tab and clicking on every door to every boat to no avail.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Sutter is some crazy stuff.

First you clean the ships.  This is an inside 9with bombs and sabatuers) and outside (with giant robots and sky raiders)

Then there are a bunch of glowies away from the ship battles.  Should be on map

Then you go inside a ship.  It gets ugly there.  can get real ugly.  There is an AV in the back room.

after that fight you go talk to contact 9still in mission but outside last AV fight ship/room)

that is just the first mission.  Is it the glowies after the ships you cannot find?

Reminds me to finish speccing out my Storm/Dark Sent.    Just looks like a floating cloud and things tend to melt around them, but I still need to install some sets.  I should also redo my Dark/Dark one on Excel.

yeah, i dug one out that i had farmed to 50 and put on a shelf.  not even 1% of incarnate exp.  fresh 50.  so i built it in mids, then respec in game.  then farmed the alpha open (10 min or less) then emailed myself two transcendents and T4d the alpha.

I have run it in a TPN, a BAF, a CoP, An hour or two with friends doing Doc Buzzsaw's "new" arc,  That in particular showed me how strong this thing is.  Able to Tank EB while being swarmed.  Regularly.  Now, not gonna try that with an AV, I am too lazy.  But the thing hits hard and is able to be propped up.

Still trying to figure out "opportunity"  starting to get it.

Interesting, I thought this bug only happened when it was the leader of the TF that quit.  So it can happen if anyone leaves?

i have not seen this bug in so long.  Justice huh, well, maybe when 10% of the server quits it creates a memory adjustment feedback issue?

Yes, sent damage is pretty good now I'd say.  Damage is even more comparable to a blaster if you are one that normally plays a blaster as "all ranged" anyway and ignores blaster secondary melee attacks, which I know a lot of people do.   From watching blasters on teams I rarely see any of them actually get in and "blap" a whole lot (yes I know all the forum blaster pros do, but that is a small number in reality.)  Big difference is mostly the lower target caps, which to me is a fair trade off for the extra armors.

Yes, looks like a fun experiment.  Of course Dark Armor is a resist set.... So.  lol.  But when stuff does hit me I am a little shocked not to take a giant wallop.  Been playing a lot of squishies for a long time.

That's a fair comment. But you could equally argue (without getting too semantic) that poison is the root of vampirism, an infection that taints your victims.

Thus you then have the fear of dark in your primary and the toxicity of your affliction in poison

I'm not criticising, simply offering an alternative perspection

Factually incorrect my friend.  Vampirism is an alien dna retrovirus.  Space Herpes.

Ok serious question, why is there no flexibility in your planning when you can endarken everything with power customization?

because it is not really Dark.  yes, the color is dark.  but the powers across Dark actually have fear, -tohit debuffs, and various things that scream "undead"  invul is stronger, coloring it black does not make it as "from the grave" as Dark powers

Is taking every primary and/or secondary power a requirement for you?

Anytime I see Cloak of Fear it makes me want to look at presence pool to combo it with Invoke Panic. Would that be a playstyle you'd like?

only when they are this good lol.  i have run a lot of Dark Dark across many ATs, i know each piece of the swiss army knife and what i can mcgyver with it

i just use cloaks the way i do on tanks and brutes, they are fire and forget damage mitigation.  if i had a fear cone i would be very happy and use the crap out of it.  but...  gonna be busy slamming ST and jousting it looks like.  leave the troll powers to doms and trollers

You could work in Tough and be at the S/L cap, and then move some slotting towards more E/N.

No Gaussian in Aim either? Boo!

You have no Hover or Combat Jumping so you're just using Sprint for combat mobility? If you like Mystic Flight that's fine though, but consider Hover + Fly and then an aura from the tailor for fancy glyphs, mebbe?

You can boost your nuke by triple proccing it which one of the few times I recommend it since Sentinels need the help. It would go from 666 (I see wut you did there!) to 774. You do lose the global accuracy but according to Mids you grossly overcapped, so much so the Kismet can go and still be at 150%+ against +3 enemies. I'm trying to find out where this coming from (found it, you had the useless Decimation proc slotted in and it was messing the numbers). The Sentinel nukes only need damage, endurance and recharge, and then triple procs, because accuracy is handled by Aim. Because of Aim slotting any accuracy is a waste unless doing high level plays of alternating Aim and nuke due to how fast the team is going.

Honestly you don't need both Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom considering how bad both are (you can fear and stun minions, not even lieutenants) though I suppose you could keep Oppressive Gloom and stack it with Abyssal Gaze to hold bosses, assuming you even go into melee and stay there. But this can definitely be a theme/aesthetic thing so fair.

Splitting the ATOs is really minimal IMO. Sure 20% range, but, heh. There is no point in 6 slotting Dark Blast since you're not building for E/N defenses anyway, but there is also no point in allocating a damage proc since it's a T1 and they are terribad for damage procs. That frees a slot that can go to Aim and the missing Gaussian.

I'm leery to mess with it too much since the build seems to be a lot about theme but perhaps you can use something from this:

    Sentinel Dark Dark Dark 2024 v1.01.mbd 43.97 kB · 0 downloads

The last 5% for S/LN from Barrier.

yeah, in my rush i made about 400 errors.  as i am actually building it i am moving sets around.

    1) is decimation really that bad? (i moved it to t1 blast)

    2) am at 60% S/L without tough and no easy way to get it in.

    3) traditionally i have mystic flight on nearly all the time on all toons.  not the fastest, not the slowest.  and do you really want to get there 1st on a Sentinel lol?

    4) yeah the cloaks are a theme.  and surprisingly effective at damage mitigation.  1 attack not made on me is gold  i need to be in PB range quite a lot for Nuke. and sustain

    5) i split for range because i like the range/acc better than the 4-6 bonuses

Didn't we have a whole thing a few days ago because someone looked at Brawl in Mids and though it was a viable skill? Mids is great (long live the Mids god devs and may their pantheon last a thousand years) but it does not give a whole picture.

Regardless with double XP and all it's not a big problem to spin one alt up. And let me know when because I haven't made that character on whatever server you're playing.

i actually have a 50 dark dark sentinel stripped and parked in the garage.  (and no one was surprised)

i just spun this crazy build on MiDs and am starting the respec on it right now in my base enhancer/parts dept.

You can also NOT use your Sentinel inherent and not have the crosshair show up if it breaks immersion.

As for the raw numbers they don't tell half the tale. What ever you may think you're seeing the Sentinel will do half the Blaster's damage in practical terms, further compounded by the icky target cap.

This gap is shortened by the fast nuke allowing to have it at each spawn unlike a Blaster.

I get the icky target cap, but I was considering Doms pretty seriously (rebuilt one with all purples) until I ran it for 5 minutes and remembered why I stopped.  F-ing rainbows.  Rainbows?  On a Villain AT?  Seriously???

But why is Sentinel damage half, when I can clearly see the ST DPS (on paper) looks very close to a Blaster ST DPS?
