  1. The prestige skiffs appear to still work, but that's 1M I didn't used to need to spend.
  2. Also, the full patch notes say: Where do I find these vendors? Are they marked on the map?
  3. Two issues: 1) I can no longer use Longbow Jetpack in PvP zones. Is this intentional? It makes redside accolades much more difficult, since there's a required explore badge on top of a globe in Warburg. 2) One of my characters - and only one, as far as I can tell - has a borked UI scale for interaction dialogs. Screenshot attached; note how the text on the flashback settings dialog is way smaller than the text in the contact menu. Logging out, restarting client, and changing graphics settings did nothing to fix the problem.
  4. I don't suppose the co-op zones could get their own color code? I think that's a more useful distinction than whether a destination is technically in Paragon City.
  5. Would you rather have someone stop playing with no explanation, or would you rather they give feedback to the devs about why they aren't playing?
  6. Is it no longer possible to acquire by going through someone else's portal?
  7. I'm aware. Seems like a nitpick on phrasing that doesn't alter my general point, but ok.
  8. So here's my feedback on this change (and generally on the patch): 1) It's too fiddly. I get that enterbasefrompasscode was exploitable. What replaced that one broken command is a complex interweaving of things that I wish I didn't have to spend game-brainpower trying to track. I suppose I'll learn it eventually, but it feels like busywork to do so. 2) It should have been done incrementally. Landing this set of changes all at once makes me feel like not playing the game because there's this long slog of re-learning things I used to already know. Incrementally adding options would have given the player base more time to adapt. 3) The removal of enterbasefrompasscode happened way, way too late. I held off on using it for months because I heard it wasn't supposed to be there, but over time, a whole bunch of positive playerbase effects started to emerge, of which TF speedrunning tricks were by far my favorite. As of last month, more than a year after I learned about ebfp, I was still learning new techniques to try. I think, in all honesty, if ebfp had just been removed as soon as it was noticed, none of the complaints here would be an issue because those positive playerbase effects wouldn't have had time to take root. 4) I would strongly prefer an option for unlocking things account wide. It doesn't have to be trivial the way ebfp was; earning powers for one character could for example earn progress towards a different account-wide accolade that grants the same powers. As it stands, I'm likely going to ignore most of the travel options on my alts, focusing only on the ones I will definitely need. The net effect is me being less likely to play the breadth of content the game offers. For others, the net effect might be creating fewer alts.
  9. FWIW I read your comment the same way Blackbird71 did. I really don't feel like my feedback on this topic is going to be welcome, so I'm pretty disinclined to give it.
  10. I take this to mean you'll be addressing LFG teleporting too at some point? That is a teleport power that has zero investment, no cooldown, and a plethora of destinations.
  11. I don't believe any amount of feedback during beta would have convinced the devs not to move forward with this change. Edit: The response from Jimmy just above, which I hadn't read yet when I posted, pretty much confirms this.
  12. I have a TW tank and I feel the same. I have been wondering if there is some trick to managing momentum that other players know about and I don't, that would somehow transform the set into an overperforming one. Or, it might be the difference between tanks and scrappers. My only other tank is War Mace which according to other posts is also overpowered...
  13. 10% speedup is 10% speedup, regardless of how much time it takes to clear a particular enemy. If the support set is giving 10% speedup all the time, then the raw clear speed for a particular mob doesn't matter. I think what's leading the argument astray is confusing proportional and raw speedup values. I think this is the real crux of your argument: I agree with this assuming you mean debuffs (for buffs, the buff goes with the player not the spawn). In the hypothetical case of the mob being dead before the debuff is fired, there isn't a 10% speedup - it's closer to 0%. The speedup is linear only in the difference between raw (un-debuffed) clear speed and cast time. It's that nonlinearity that's important.
  14. I know I'm commenting on a really old part of this thread but I suspect the thinking is characteristic of more than one poster. I would be very, very cautious about drawing a conclusion about how a set performs based on how many people use it, for two reasons. First, people play sets for more than just effectiveness. Pain and Empathy are similar powersets, and which one is better is debatable, but Empathy is chosen almost 10x as frequently as Pain for Defenders. Why? I would guess it's largely that Empathy fits better with folks' character conceptions, particularly for a heroic archetype. Some hypothetically effectiveness-balanced TW set might still be chosen more frequently than others because people think it just looks cool, for example. Second, looking only at aggregate numbers like this hides details about context, and sometimes that context matters. For example, the quoted statistics don't separate out Fiery Aura, even though previous statistics in that post do separate them out because clearly FA is an outlier of its own. Why is it an outlier? Because the combination of AE and Winter IOs made fire mitigation the clear winner for farming maps. Does that mean FA should be changed, or does it suggest that farming potential should be spread out among more damage types? More generally, underlying structure of data may mean that aggregates appear to show properties that disappear when the data is broken down - see Simpson's Paradox for the statistical background on how this happens. The apparent outlier of FA is one example of this, but there may be others more directly related to TW.
  15. I don't have a dog in this race, but this example doesn't prove your point; the steamroll team will take out 3 mobs in 27 seconds rather than 3 mobs in 30 seconds.
  16. Specifically Fulmens, who I used to talk market stuff with a lot, and Arcanaville, who of course set the gold standard for mechanics analysis. Anyone know if they're around on HC?
  17. I've been wondering about Fulmens, anyone know if he made the transition to HC?
  18. I finally registered (like others have posted, it took almost a day to get a passkey), but I have yet to get a work unit. Logs look like: 20:16:50:WU01:FS00:Connecting to 65.254.110.245:8080 20:16:50:WARNING:WU01:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '65.254.110.245:8080': No WUs available for this configuration 20:16:50:WU01:FS00:Connecting to 18.218.241.186:80 20:16:51:WARNING:WU01:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '18.218.241.186:80': No WUs available for this configuration 20:16:51:ERROR:WU01:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment Hopefully this will pass as they get more capacity.
  19. FYI, the Mac desktop client does not appear to accept '_' as a valid character. Attempting to type it produces '=' instead. I was however able to type the correct username in another program and copy/paste it into the field.
  20. I could have sworn that trip mine always knocked back all opponents. Are you sure this was a bug? I actually don't want the knockback in this power so I don't mind, but it looked off.
  21. Well... I don't know what I did or what happened, but sound is working now. *shrug*
  22. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm guessing this is probably the issue, however when I try to run those commands I get this error: [prompt]$ env WINEPREFIX=~/.privatewine bin/winetricks sound=coreaudio warning: taskset/cpuset not available on your platform! ------------------------------------------------------ wineserver not found! ------------------------------------------------------ Doesn't City of Heroes now install Wine alongside the application rather than using a user-relative location?
  23. I'm running the 64-bit client on the Mac, and it's been running fine up until yesterday's patch. Since then, I get no sound out of the game. I've restarted my computer and the client multiple times, and also tried switching to compatibility mode in the "audio" settings. Nothing has made any difference. Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any troubleshooting tips, or information I can provide that would help diagnose? Thanks in advance!
  24. Ah, nevermind. I appear to have been trying to run the 64-bit version of Homecoming (there are 3 identical entries at the top of my list that all just say "HOMECOMING"). Choosing the third one (which then says "launching HOMECOMING LEGACY...") gets me into the game.
  25. After this morning's update, I am suddenly having this exact issue also. Has anyone found a fix?
