  1. Not on the same scale, but this happens to me way too often... went to pay 9 million, dropped 90 million, etc.
  2. I judge people's "wealth" in the game by how many fully built-and-slotted characters they have. Massive stores of inf isn't that impressive anyway when you haven't built anything out of it.
  3. More of that sensitivity, haha. It's not about being sensitive (you really think I'm sensitive? I play PvP exclusively in this game for a start, can't be thinskinned in RV). It's just about the simple fact that being snarky isn't gonna win you friends.
  4. I don't get any of that from Phil's posts. My best friend taught me: You have read texts/messages/posts in as bland a voice as possible. You cannot know where the person intended inflection. Italics and Bold just don't do justice. Neither do emojis. Well when I've seen him post in the past it was usually some snarky /jranger one word reply to people. So it's not hard to see why that kind of approach would rub people the wrong way.
  5. Could it be anything to do with your sarcastic/unhelpful/disruptive replies to people's topics, I wonder...
  6. No. BF doesn't do anything in PvP. You can pop 4+ breakfrees whilst being held like that and it won't do anything.
  7. So much wrong in this post. So much wrong. I spent the first month of the game being up power-pushing people around RV on an energy/emp corr and watching them die before they hit the ground. I don't bring it out that much anymore because most people have enough kb protection to resist a power push. Those are not "vulnerable/weak ATs". That generalization is just plain... wrong. They are disruption slots in a team. Also, asking for a player-based rule-set in the arena is just admitting that there is a flaw in the game's design. Yeah so I doubt you were killing Ice/Plant blasters and such on it. You said it yourself, it's a +1. You KB'd someone into next week while someone else bursted. But there's other ways to lock someone down and have a DPS burst them. You can go the sapper route for example, or just use domination holds. I don't see why kb is especially a problem. If you think that KB'ing and insta-kills mid-kb animation lock are acceptable game mechanics, I don't know how to speak with you. Of course not, but what about being held for 10 seconds and unable to do anything, is that gamebreaking? And is the solution to these problems erradicating knockback entirely? Why not ask for a rework on how the mez itself works, and mez in general? As that's the real issue with the games balance.

  9. * Force Bolt - mag 54, need mag 49 or so protection * Gale - mag 41, need mag 35 or so protection (interesting note: Gale works funny and will sometimes apply two packets of knockback, which means it'll cut through KB protection on just about any non-squishy) * Power Push (Defender/Dominator version) - mag 46, need 41 * Power Push (Blaster/Corruptor version) - mag 35, need 31 * Lift/Levitate - mag 35, need 31 (I literally have that on a saved note because everyone asks the same question). Thing is those powers belong to pretty weak and vulnerable ATs and builds. I don't think I have been KB'd once in all my time in RV. Is this mostly a concern for team arena matches? Can't you just come to an agreement with the other team, i.e. no knockback builds? People already say things like no TK. I think it's fine because you'd need to build specifically for a "knockback build" by taking these powers, and you gimp yourself in other ways by taking them.
  10. To be fair, what can even output this level of knockback, a Forcefield Defender? Can't think of much else.
  11. Yep you took the words out of my mouth. And in regards to the fog, even though it felt like a pain to navigate as you say, I also felt like the fog added a sense of being suffocated, or surrounded, by whatever creepy stuff was going on in Astoria. I know CONTENT wise, old vs new there is no contest. This is purely visual. I should've rephrased perhaps... do you prefer the foggy echo, or the red/cthulhuesque new Astoria? And yeah... I'm sure there was ever only two versions? Or?
  12. Global: @Wanderlust Aliases: Blue Dragoon, Redeemer, Heartache, Hardship PvP Builds (Fully IO'd and mostly accoladed): Ice/TA Blaster Psi/Regen Scrapper StJ/Bio Stalker -ResStacking/Anti-Stalker Spider (lol, mostly for zone meme) But as others said, I'm EU so I will probably almost never be able to attend these 1am sessions. I'll try stay up for it.
  13. Just wondering what people think of newer Dark Astoria's ambience/atmosphere compared to the old zone? Personally I loved the "Silent Hill" theme of old Astoria, it was really creepy and having it as a dead zone nobody really went to made it feel extra eerie. The new iteration is ok too, but a bit less subtle about being dark and dreary.
  14. It's bad and I never pick it, but visually I love Spring Attack followed up with any meaty AoE.
  15. I have fond memories of the old days when I'd PvP in Siren's Call and Warburg, two really nice zones. Even Bloody Bay had its charm. But nowadays, only Recluse's Victory sees any zone play. So here is my pitch: Every Monday, there is a special event in Bloody Bay, where extra loot will be rewarded to those who get kills and/or successful use of zone mechanics. This will be the same for Tuesday in Siren's Call, Wednesday for Warburg and finally Recluse's Victory on Thursday. The extra loot could be chance for purples, better rolls on PvP IOs, something worthwhile that'll actually attract people to try it. This would be nice because people could potentially make specific character builds for the level of PvP attributed to the respective zones, adding a new metagame for buildcrafters, everyone gets a chance at some nice rolls and we can enjoy a greater diversity of map variety for zone PvP throughout the week.
  16. Could we please stop using politically loaded terms in passive-aggressive swipes at our fellow players? There's nothing politically loaded about the word "intolerant", the very definition of the word is "not tolerant of views, beliefs, or behaviour that differ from one's own" which is the VERY thing the PvE players have done to the PvP players in this topic. Look at this charming fellow for example, doesn't like PvP, doesn't want to know about it, and he even wants it removed at the expense of PvP players.

  18. Oh dear... "so that those of us who sunk so much money and time into the game before can get something in return". You do understand you're not "owed" something by the homecoming team, and you understand further that they are NOT the original development team? We ALL had to start from scratch, man.
  19. +100 INF. It has no place unless PVP stats / environment is different than PVE. This is already the case in CoX. Sad how intolerant people are isn't it? We already have the capability to make this have no effect on PvE. There's also the fact that bringing weaker powersets up to scratch would be a benefit in PvE too, in some cases. PvE doesn't rely on finetuned balance because it's not really very difficult or demanding compared to PvP fights. The game doesn't really have many ways of making mechanics interesting other than just "debuff then hit this guy really hard". Not saying PvE isn't important, I just think it's a bit funny to say PvP changes would ruin PvE changes (and this is in a hypothetical world without PvP skill splits) when the game mode is so utterly brain dead.
  20. Well I'm a big CoH fan, and I'm a fan of many anime, but I gotta say I really didn't enjoy My Hero Academia.
  21. I'm saying this almost entirely from a PvP point of view. There are MANY underwhelming powersets in the game, some of them have absolutely no place in PvP which severely hurts the variety of potential builds and the enjoyment of buildcrafting in general. I'm talking about things like how for Blaster, only Ice (especially Ice), Psi and Dark Blast are considered strong primaries, and then even worse, Tactical Arrow and Plant are seen as the only truly strong secondaries. This is even worse on other classes, although I haven't prepared a comprehensive list. There's MANY balance problems that bother me. Too many power picks feel forced if you don't want to cripple your build, and others which should feel useful aren't. Take Aid Self - on paper a great skill for a Blaster with no heal. But there's two problems with it which make it truly awful. First, it consumes endurance before even attempting a cast (AS doesn't do that, you can spam it until the cast begins), if you hit the button a lot (which you often need to do due to the sensitivity of being interrupted), you'll end up totally drained. Another problem is that a mere DoT tick is enough to interrupt the cast. In the end what we are left with is a truly horrible and almost worthless heal. By the time you pop this heal off, IF you even manage it, you'll be dust unless you're having a 1v1 with a low damage AT. Other things bother me, such as the lack of some classes ability to deal with high incoming burst damage. My Spider for example, is a melee toon just like a Stalker - with less damage output. And NO heal, NO godmode access. It's extremely tight to try build this AT, and Widows are even more pathetic. Or look at the prevalence of Phase Shift and Hibernate. There's no dodge in this game, so unless you have a t9 godmode how can you survive focused burst? You NEED to take phase at the very least. But this only further limits builds. Personally, I would like if it every AT was inherently given "Dodge" as a power, an instant cast skill that gives you a second of immunity to damage. You get two charges and each takes 15 seconds to recharge. This would keep Phase Shift a strong option without making it feel so mandatory. I also think in general many sets need looked at, some need damage increases but some could use stronger secondary effects. For example why take Electrical Blast? Just to take off tiny smidgens of endurance from one player? The -end should be through the roof with mediocre damage to give it a viable niche. Just some general ideas on how I'd finetune things.
  22. Yes, you are. Because pretendy fun time games. So, you outright judge others and belittle them, because some people happen to enjoy gaming in a serious way or as a dedicated hobby, rather than your lackadaisical and carefree attitude towards the game? I don't understand how you can take this stance. Don't you see your hypocrisy? You criticize me for not "being a good sport" presumably and grouping with "casual players" (I don't like that term as I have no stigma towards casual players, but regardless) but then you say it's outright wrong to play in a manner where someone might care about efficiency. Your main example is one where you use the DPS meter tool to kick a player. This is fundamentally at odds with the general CoH community. In general, the players in this community are relaxed and enjoy a less job focused playstyle. As you can see from sheer numbers here in this thread alone, the popularity of such DPS elitism is simply unwanted here in this community. You call us all the names you like, from lackadaisical to carebears to filthy casuals to hypocrites. The fundamental use you have for the tool, to use it to beat other players with, to shame them and kick them, is what we fight against. Not becoming better players. Not analyzing our own DPS. Not learning to use powers better. The use you propose, from your first post, is to use the tool as a weapon against other players. For this community, we see that as elitist, exclusionist and just plain old mean, jerk behaviour. Why should we treat people who are being jerks like anything other than jerks? So when you make a group, and explicitly state you're looking for competent players to join you for some challenging content, and someone joins who has no intention of trying their best, the people who made an honest group and appealed for other likeminded players to join them, are now jerks, bad people etc, and all the other insults you have nastily conjured. I showed my opinion in this thread. And I haven't been shown any consideration honestly. People were trollish, antagonistic and even just calling me a bad person. AT NO POINT. Did I call someone a "carebear" or some other belittling word. I described the PhiloticKnights attitude to the game as lackadaisical, as in carefree. This wasn't an insult, it was a true description of his attitude to grouping with others and the game in general where he has no real preference or restrictions (well actually, he does - no hardcore audience please). The irony is this is less tolerant than my approach to the game, which is let others do as they wish, rather than forcing people together.

  24. You pretty much just countered your own argument in the bolded part of the quote. "People are Kneejerking about DPS meters" "This 3rd guy sucked and only did 10% our DPS, and that's no good *insert sonic meme*" If you had a DPS meter what would you have done at that point? Either trolled or kicked I'm guessing You are right about support though. DPS meters are usually just for shits and giggles for healers, tanks etc. Although CoH works differently. Heal meters would be stupid because rocking the aura is not efficient at all. buffs/debuffs are way more potent. An APM counter would be better for support than a heal meter, and even then its blind. No, it's a different in our ethics. Imagine this: You're grouping up to do hard content and advertise your team, you ask for good damage dealers (again, this doesn't mean you have to be the EPITOME of damage, just that you are doing a reasonable amount of damage and feel somewhat confident). You've put it out there what is expected. Two guys join and one does fine, the other is slacking in the extreme and isn't doing even an acceptable level of damage. In this case, you are fine to struggle on and pick up the weight of this person who knowingly joined a tough content team whilst never intending to do their bit. It is fine by you if this extends the content by an hour or longer. For me, I would either kick that person or leave. I didn't have enough time on that night to sludge on whilst getting nowhere. Am I really wrong for that? Is that bad? No, we just have a difference in mentality.
