I posted awhile ago about creating a steamroll all buff/debuff team. My mates and I made our toons and have done some work with it, but it has been tough sledding for me. I made a son/son def and I'm not really happy with him.

 

Recently I was browsing the Cor forum and saw this build for a Fire/Time Cor that looked really intriguing. DPS Support Tank 

Then I got to thinking, what would changing this to a defender look like? I put it together and it looks like better buffs, as I expected, but the damage looked to be pretty close. I know it's not accounting for scourge, so my question is, what would be the pros and cons of using this build on def vice cor?

I happen to have made my first (non farming) character on Homecoming as a Time/Fire defender, because I dearly loved my fire/time corr from live and wanted to see how the inverse played.

 

Honestly, for "feel" (I haven't analyzed a session with Hero stats) the main difference is, as you suspected, Scourge, at least against big targets (meaning AVs/GMs).  They both were/are safe and lethal in general play even as you ratchet up the difficulty and size.

 

That reminds me, because this was my first character, I used a "bargain" build (meaning Posis instead of Ragnarok, that kind of thing).  I need to finally get around to a "premium" build then I can better make an apples-apples comparison (that Corr on live was "premium")

When it comes to soul drain or fulcrum shift or other multi hit dmg buffs you cannot trust mids damage numbers. In the end fire/time corr will be better overall with considerable  investment. The buffs on a defender will be higher, but often the buffs from power boost/radial clarion+farsight are so significant you don't need anymore as a corr for almost all teams. The damage between a corruptor and defender when buffed with soul drain and any other dmg buffs is very significant and it is due to the higher base damage instead of scourge.

Corr would be an easy pick for me. I even stumbled upon the idea after thinking how good it could be. Unfortunately Fire is simply better on a corr.
