Fire/Rad - Any feedback would be super appreciated

I'd like to start off by saying, in my personal opinion (I know this is subjective) it is not particularly cheap to fully IO out a toon.  So rather then me guessing, or wondering, or screwing up multiple times and continuously purchasing items to make up for the mistakes......I would much rather ask the homecoming community for input.  You ALL are just great players that invest so much time into every last detail. It's amazing.  The amount of useful information all of you that do regularly post (usually to help other's) is fantastic.  Can't stress enough how great of a community this game still has after all of these years.  And like most of you, I've been around since the start.  I was much younger, and had a lot more free time lol.

I've also noticed Fire Melee and Radiation Armor get a lot of love. And I agree with that. Radiation especially has become one of my favorite set's in the game. I have built many characters around it now.

So I present one of a few different variations of this build. Pick it apart, tell me it sucks, tell me what Ive missed, tell me what can be improved, don't hold back.  Couple points I should make:

-I know it's not soft capped to S/L resistance. That was intentional to try and spread out some improvement on weaker link areas. It is still at 86.4%, would that be noticeable?

-Looking at it, it would seem I have really limited the amount of offensive type abilities. But I'm thinking with the global recharge bonus' maybe...thats not so bad? Do you have a lot of experience with Fire Melee and do you find it flows fairly well without having to take a ton of the abilities?

-Speaking of global recharge, what the hell.....he only has one recharge in hasten!? I know....it was another slot I needed. And believe me, I would never do that typically but, I didn't know where else to pull it from.  Do you have a better suggestion? Hell, I am willing to change up anything, any suggestion is super welcomed!

-I always focus on melee positional defense. I know there is other ways to go about it, that is just always what I pick. Again, any suggestions are welcome.

-I am willing to spend a lot, if the build is worth spending the amount on. Someone maybe has a really strong case for a different primary instead of Fire melee. I am willing to see any of those too!

Thank you everyone in advance for any advice or help. I am patiently looking forward to your responses 🙂

Okay, will say it again.  If you're just taking Boxing or Kick because you HAVE to and you're not going to slot it or get Cross Punch, just take KICK.
If nothing else, you can throw a Force Feedback +Rech proc in there.  It's unresisted.  It's actually DIRECTLY beneficial to you.  Unlike anything you could slot from the sets available to Boxing.

You're generally over-slotted in your Resists.
You've also ignored your Fitness powers (Health and Stamina).  As such, your Recovery suffers.

In the build I'm putting up, you sacrifice some Smashing/Lethal, but you can more comprehensive Resistance in E/N/F/C.
I've also included Cardiac Core T4 Incarnate (turned off in the build so you can see the base numbers).
This build is, essentially, identical to yours (power-pick-wise, save I've subbed Kick for Boxing).

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

You don't have enough accuracy in beta decay. This is the build that I am using for my fire/rad brute. I didnt get the T9 in fire because its dps is lower than incinerate, scorch, and cremate and I didn't get the T9 in rad because I can't make it perma and I am survivable enough. I think ranged might be a problem for your build. This build can eat a purple to cap range def, but it is already at 35% ranged def. Melee def is softcapped with beta decay (assuming the 8.45% -tohit is resisted at a .65 multiplier like most other debuffs in the game on +3s). Oh, and I don't like small arc cones so breath of fire is out.

You don't have enough accuracy in beta decay.

Beta Decay is autohit. It doesn't actually take accuracy enhancements. The fact that it takes accurate tohit debuffs is a bug.

Thank you very much for letting me know that.

This is why I love this game and the community!

It is also amazing how two people can come up with two separate amazing builds, which are unique each in their own way.

Hyperstrike I really like how your build stays true to how mine is set up. It's really nice to see the resistance turned up across the board (and I don't mind S/L reduced slightly). I checked with both Cardiac on and off and dont seem to see much of a difference (which is a good thing, I always consider Incarnates a nice bonus to hopefully an already solid build). I also really appreciate your advice on Kick over Punch. That is an extremely useful tip considering Ive never put thought into it for the rest of my characters.  You basically did what I was hoping for, you took my build and corrected it, improved it, and accomplished what I was going for originally (Im still learning a lot about building properly).

Darkir I really like your build as well.  Its a fairly large difference too and you went the Pyre Mastery route. Let me set something straight, I hate Fire Breath, the animation is long, and its not much output for whats invested. But, I was also trying to get some more AoE. Fireball really solves that issue lol. So if you didn't need the two  Siphon Insights in Beta Decay, where would u put those two slots elsewhere? Did you take Super Speed just for the Blessing of Zephyr +to ranged? I am always partial to Super jump (if I ever take a travel power and a lot of times I actually don't).  I get what you mean with Meltdown, I do know its sort of a not so important ability. I usually only include it because of the extra umph here and there.  I really like how you got the ranged defense up and still managed respectable resistances.

Thank you both again and I welcome any other suggestions. You both not only fixed my build, but exceeded it immensely!

Gaffan, one thing to remember, building "properly" covers a VERY wide swath of builds.  Of which mine and Darkir have provided two.
It all depends on your ultimate goals and what you're willing to compromise on vs what you just GOTTA have.

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

I agree with Hyperstrike on this. Many many sets change enormously based solely on your playstyle and preferences.

I, for instance love and am totally used to spending a few seconds lining up cones. Cones are actually very powerful DPE wise if you are used to them, and usually almost OP DPA wise as well.

Some people hate them, They cannot tolerate aoe's that do not hit everything without targetting, or the slight delay that using a Cone causes, even if it is maxde up for elsewhere.

Both are totally valid approaches, both wind up with only slightly varying total dps output... and that's just for fire melee... don't get me started on the arguments for slotting beta decay or even TAKING taunt, ground zero, or meltdown.

As a ferinstance, I have a claws/fire brute that is built upon an ENTIRELY different philosophy than the prevailing 'top farmer' claws/fire... It is a cone monster, and uses the spiritual and melee radial incarnates as well as shark cone epics as an important part of the build rather than mu mastery, musculature and assault.... I am able to hardly build in defense at all, and use clarion for range on the cones, so it feels almost like a blaster and gets a slightly faster clear time than 'traditional' claws/fire farmers.  And the build is ENTIRELY different in almost every major way, from which sets to choose to skipping the fighting pool altogether, and even in platsyle it is different, running MUCH hotter when there are a lot of foes on the board to slowing down sharply when the map is almost cleared... and yet it is just as valid.

All really great points, mentally I am logging every last piece of great advice from you all (and thank you Frostweaver for your input as well).

Hyperstrike, my ultimate goal with this build was to try and create a solid, well rounded brute for solo play. Probably some team thrown in there as well, but I'm always online at random hours and have difficult times finding people to play with at 50. My current most played character is a plant/fire permadom, and although I enjoy it a ton, there is a big portion of content (end game especially) I am finding myself worried to step into, or that is just too much and overwhelming to tackle solo. On live, my main, most played decked out toon was a Dark/Elec brute, and I loved feeling like I could walk into almost any group of enemies and not have  to particularly worry. I was attempting to do the same with this build, or surpass that.

I think I'd put two recharge IOs in Build up to try to have it up more often. Feel free to take super jump. I took super speed for the ranged def so any travel power will work.
