Ry Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Can we give this set some love, please? This power set along with Energy Melee is one of the least played, even on live I almost never saw any Battle Axe characters. War Mace is just vastly more popular and that must be down to numbers, if they were more even surely this set would see more play? I'll make one myself to try and give this set some attention, but good grief, its like a myth at this point. Any Battle Axe users out there feeling underwhelmed by the set? Lets get this discussion going!
SeraphimKensai Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 My 1st 50 on live was an Invuln/Battle Axe tank. At the time I ran perma unstoppable and teleported around due to unyielding rooting you. Regarding Battle Axe, the set had what "seemed like" higher damage attacks due to the animations, that were infact lower damage due to being a tank, and also dealing one of the most resisted damage types. Battle Axe and War Mace were essentially clones of each other aside of Battle Axe did knockdown/knockup and War Mace did stuns (and what "seemed like" a little less damage). Quite a number of years passed, and War Mace was buffed up due to how no one used it, which moved Battle Axe to the bottom of the ranks ng it seemed. And there it has remained. I agree Battle Axe could use some love, and I think I know just what would help it out.... What if Battle Axe, had a slight resistance debuff it's attacks that could stack like say sonic blast? The set would perform better at solo, and then be looked at as more team friendly as well due to helping the rest of the team as well. 1
Ry Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 A slight resistance debuff could work wonders! 😄
Bossk_Hogg Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Axe could use something certainly. Right now it's Mace's cruddy cousin, lacking the hard hitting attack like clobber or any variety in its effects. I'd add in -resistance in Gash and some a dot to Beheader to help with its otherwise terrible DPA. Axe does have a ton of opportunities for slotting force feedback chance for recharge, so if paired with an armor set that benefits from a lot of recharge can get good use out of that. 1
Ry Posted January 24, 2020 Author Posted January 24, 2020 Any suggestions on something that benefits from high recharge off the bat?
Alchemystic Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 -Def debuff seems fitting, given that an axe as a weapon is intended to breach defenses and strip away reinforcements. 😃

Radiation woud be my pick, w Radiation Therapy, Ground Zero and Meltdown being clickies with longish recharge. Meltdown is an actually useful T9 with minimal crash, that also ups your damage. Shield Defense for Shield Charge, and Bio for its clickies too.
VileTerror Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I'd second the -Res suggestion, instead of the -Def (we've already got Broad Sword and Katana, and now even Radiation Melee).
Super Atom Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) -res instead could be cool, give it a little flavor BS doesn't have. I'd suggest the same for Warmace as well. That way you could have them be the -res and kat/bs handle -def. Edited January 25, 2020 by Super Atom
Galaxy Brain Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 WM doesnt need -Res.... it has stuns and KDs. Axe could maybe use another small, 3 target cone somewhere tho on top of this, as well as it's current pencil cone (and all pencils for that matter) becoming shatter cones
Ry Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 WM doesn't need any help, the whole point of buffing Battle Axe is to make it actual competition for War Mace. As right now War Mace is the better choice by far. -Res could be good for Battle Axe, nothing to crazy just something to help boost it up a bit. 🙂
