I know it's not optimal, but it was my original character.

I've posted her current build below.

My specific wants: Knockback to Knockdown in Energy Torrent, Explosive Blast, and Nova. Unbreakable Guard +7.5% Max HP would be nice too, but lower priority. Definitely don't want Hasten, and not giving up Teleport, but I'm willing to consider changing Epic pools. I don't currently have any Purples or ATOs but they are of course an option.

My suggestion would be switch to Mace mastery to pick up Scorpion shield, then grab tough to hold the def uniques and get weave.

 

Defense just seems superior with the whole status protection issue.

 

Power boost might help more than vengeance.    Since you'd get +def and +heal in energize.

What's your goal for the build, or what are you hoping to achieve? From a budget stand point, sure, that build would "work" and a small purple puts you in range of at least softcap on Ranged Defense, but that can be a difficult marker to hit when there's other, simpler options available like Haijinx mentioned. To put that in perspective, I already had a Nrg/Nrgy laying around:

It's not quite soft capped (45%) to S/L, but Power Boost definitely will spike it over that number for short bursts as needed. This was one of many experimental builds I was working with to try and come up with a specific Blaster concept I personally wanted to run. Ok, here's an attempt.

I would prefer to keep this selection of powers, but if anyone has any suggestions for better slottings I'm all ears.  In particular if there was a way to get more recharge into Nova, but it's not too bad as is.
