Soft-capping Energy Aura to Negative Energy

Is soft-capping Energy Aura to Negative Energy possible or feasible?

 

I've been happily cruising my Street Justice / Energy Aura brute up through the levels. Got most S/L/E to 45% but NE is still about 35%.

Didn't worry about it too much until my first ITF, then those Dwarfs and Rommie at the end would just wipe me out with a couple Mires.

 

The bonuses I've seen pair Energy and Negative Energy. Do I just need to suck it up and try to go for 55/45% E/NE defense or is there a source of pure NE defense bonus?

There are several ways to do this:

 

-Superior Winter's Bite will give you 5% E/N on its 5th bonus.

-Entomb will do the same as well.

-Barrier Core T4 will give you a permanent 5% def and 5% res bonus.

 

There's really not a source of "pure NE defense" there's E/N in terms of set bonuses, however, softcapping Negative is entirely possible.

both my Kat & Staff EnA Scraps are softcapped to NE before Incarnates, so it's absolutely possible. didn't break the over-all builds to do it, so still feasible/viable too. the WO sets Zera mentioned are the only 2 NE Def bonuses in the Kat. the Staff doesn't have Entomb, but has a pair of Reactive Armor bonuses and a Numina NE Def bonus.

i think my biggest challenge on EnA has been dragging all of SLENFC Res to 44-51%, w/o neglecting +Rech at all. in full aggro, it'll ride along at 230%, lol. love EnA! ya might consider playin with Rune in your build on Mids/Pine, which i use to cap (not sure how close to 90% a Brute might get) when in rough stuff. have you tanked the Incarnate sewer Pylons yet?...that's another one where Rune/Melee Core come in.

Thanks for those tips! I've never looked at the Winters since those were pretty expensive last time I looked. Hadn't even thought of taking a hold to get Entomb!

Just got into the low 40's on that ITF so no incarnate bonuses yet. 

With this NE hole I was debating whether to continue or switch to a StJ/Ninjitsu Scrapper.

There are 2 sets for melee, on the 3rd slot bonus is 2% and you can slot 3x3 in each attack to get 4%.

Are you talking Neg DEFENSE?  Or Neg RESIST?

Yes to the first, conditionally "Yes" to the second.
