SuperPlyx
Thinking of parking a toon at level 20 - 25 for TaskForce/StrikeForce. And it got me wondering what would be the "best" power set combo and AT for this level ? I do not really play at this level, so am not sure what to go with. My first thought was a Claws/Energy Brute. But really would love to hear what ya'll think would work "best"? *(I know "best" is subjective as hell but how else to word it?)
Redlynne
Why couldn't you Exemplar to that level range? 1 Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.
SuperPlyx
Can and do exemplar from time to time....just thought it would be fun to do a purpose built toon for that level range. I have plenty of time and inf..so why not 😃
Hardboiled Hero
Force Field defender/corruptor, so you can help out all those people who aren't defense capped yet.
Cutter
Elec Affinity/x defender for help with resists, to-hit, and endurance woes. I'd argue ElAff is tailor-made for low/mid level content where most folks don't have all their builds together - it patches so many holes. 2 @Cutter So many alts, so little time... A defender with lots of leadership powers and victory rush is great at low level for teams. But you usually have to sacrifice something to squeeze all that in! If you have lots of money you can purpose build a second build with level 20 in mind. Like 6 slot just the 1-25 powers. 1 Retired, October 2022. Heraclea
Stone Melee/Regen scrapper or brute. I have a /Regen scrapper who is one of my low level content specialists. Granted, the character is level 50 and has her slots, which make the low level content that much more fun to play. Regen sucks at higher levels and incarnate content, because of its unreliable click heals, which are adversely affected by animation lag, and vulnerability to -recharge and other debuffs. But for low level content it remains quite inviting to play, because it gets as good as it ever is going to get very early. I choose Regen because it gets endurance relief very early, and you'll need that if you're playing Stone Melee. Your endurance relief is also passive, basically a double Stamina you can get at level 4. At 20 you can have both Panacea and Miracle +recovery uniques; I use Health to slot them. You have three of your four self heals as well. Just steer clear of attack sets with combo/stack systems like Titan Weapons or Dual Blades; the pieces of the puzzle won't be there for you at those levels. Stone Melee, likewise, has a very solid ST attack chain at low levels. It is a bad endurance hog, hence /Regeneration. But you will be one-shotting or nearly one-shotting most minions with the hammers. Another armor set that gets good at low levels is Fire. Your endurance relief is Consume, which is very slow in recharging out of the box. You get that at 20. But everything in the set that helps keep you alive is there by level 16. Fire also does a bit better in the late game than Regen. I'd still prefer Regen for this particular niche. 1 QVÆ TAM FERA IMMANISQVE NATVRA TB ~ Amazon Army: AMAZON-963 | TB ~ Crowned Heads: CH-10012 | EX ~ The Holy Office: HOLY-1610 | EV ~ Firemullet Groupies: FM-5401 | IN ~ Sparta: SPARTA-3759 | RE ~ S.P.Q.R. - SPQR-5010 Spread My Legions - #207 | Lawyers of Ghastly Horror - #581 | Jerk Hackers! - #16299 | Ecloga Prima - #25362 | Deth Kick Champions! - #25818 | Heaven and Hell - #26231 | The Legion of Super Skulls - #27660 | Cathedral of Mild Discomfort - #38872 | The Birch Conspiracy! - #39291

No kind of leveling melee builds mature enough for level 20ish content. They will get chewed up by anything and everything without support. Support carries lowbie content. If you want to build and park toons that excel at lowbie content, go with elec affinity. 1 Liberty, Torchbearer, Excelsior, Everlasting Jezebel Delias Level 50 Fire/Elec/Mace Blaster I am the Inner Circle! Maxzero
Honestly something with /Traps is nice simply for Force Field Generator 15%+ Def to the whole team plus mez protection is probably going to do more then any other team buff. Combine it with a Primary that does debuffs (either -res, -def or -hit) and you will contribute more to the group then pretty much anyone.
SuperPlyx
So I decided a support toon was the right way to go with this. And altho I really liked the idea of Force Field, after really looking at Electric Affinity it just made the most sense. As others in this thread have pointed out it really does shine at level 25, not sure how it is at level 50 but it's impressive at this level. Kudos for all the people responsible for making this powerset. Thank all of you for the replies and suggestions!! Shred Monkey
I really liked my Elec/DB tank in this level range. The task forces tend to have energy damage types (Freakshow and Clockworks) so you do well there. And the empower->weaken->repeat attack chain can be done at a very low level with just prestige dam/rech enhancements and standard IOs. It's very endurance efficient, too if you throw a brawl between each combo. Having a Damage Aura helps you grab group agro, and at those levels, people actually appreciate a good tank. I remember running synapse while leveling up and despite hating that task force, I was actually stoked about how perfect my toon was for running it.
