I've been working on a granite tank here, in the mid 30s now. I'm building mostly for +speed and recharge, some +hp to near cap, and otherwise going for capped defenses/resists, psi resist at 50 or 60.  I've got a pretty good build I think, but kind of iffy on a couple of powers. While I do use Spring Attack from leaping for the +recharge and short range tp (and two 7.5 move bonuses), I could also scap that pool and take the Energy Epic instead. That would give me Conserve for long fights, another +recovery, and Energy Torrent which I'd slot the same as Spring Attack but up far more frequently.

Im open to any suggestions or things I missed here, haven't played stone in about a decade.

I let this one sit for a bit and found a few threads that gave me other options (proc slotting IG for one). I've adjusted this a fair bit, and am almost at 50 now where I can test out  how useful some of it is. My runspeed in granite is hovering around 27mph, still curious how some folks are hitting high 30s even with incarnates. I'll put up a newer version of the build when I get a chance and am sure it's near final.

You'll want to make sure you are maximizing the rule of 5 on the 7.5% movement speed. Your build in the OP looks like it has 4 of those, with spring attack using up 4 slots to get you to 15%. Personally, I would try to add one more slot into Stamina and replace the regular end mod IO with a Synapse Shock End Mod and also add in the Synapse Shock EndMod/15% Run Speed. That will give you another 7.5% movement bonus and another 15% run speed bonus. You might also look at using enhancement boosters on the Run IOs in Swift

 

Finally, you can always grab a +Run Speed temp power from Base Empowerment. It will add 20% of base run speed (20% x 14.32mph = 2.86 mph) for 90 minutes.

 

Second Finally, another good option is to incorporate a 2-slot Aegis for 7.5% movement speed.

I did not know there was a run speed buff in the new sets. I will do that for sure.  My new build has Aegis in Granite itself, and a couple more 7.5 for 9 all told (4 set, 5 io).

This should help a lot, especially with the +run speed.

When you post your new build, i'll take a look. Not sure what you're going for with playstyle though, so I try not to make assumptions when I review builds, but if there's anything obvious I'll let you know. I do recall someone awhile back built a granite tank that could reach 40 mph...i think with the temp buff. I'll see if I have that build and share it. It might give you ideas

Ok, I forgot I actually collaborated with the guy (DaCrusha?) so I can take some partial credit for the build, but they did the heaviest lifting.

 

The build has:

5x Gift of the Ancients (+7.5%).

Synapse's Shock (+15%).

Winter's Gift (+9%).

5x +7.5% Movement Speed (3x FF, PS, GSFC)

5x +6% Movement Speed (5x UL in the prestige sprints)

5x +4.5% Movement Speed (4x KC, MF)

(we did not chase the +3% movement speeds because it would take away from the build)

 

In total, the above adds 151.5% run speed, which is 21.7 mph of run speed. In Granite, with Alpha, it moves 37 mph. With the 20% base empowerment, you will get another 2.86 mph, which will get you to 39.85 mph.

Or you could be sensible and just Teleport everywhere. 🙂

What's the fun in that haha? But yes, teleport is also an option. Running, might be more for confined areas like hallways and caves.

I am really digging the suggestions Bopper. I might have to move around slots and lose about 5% psi res. But I can keep it around 45 still and get a lot more speed out of this. I'll put the new build up tomorrow.

So here's the new build I made incorporating your suggestions and some of the other tanker build you posted. My goal here was to have enough +recharge and +run to offset that portion of Granite, although not as much +run as Da Crusha. I also wanted enough +psi res to handle all the psi in later levels without swapping to minerals, and some +hp/+regen to complement the heal in Radiation Siphon. I think I've got all that here, maybe more psi res than I'd planned. I took @Hjarki's advice and added teleport, took out the leaping line and feel like it was a solid decision. I do plan on Agility alpha, which is why granites defense slotting is a little low; with agility it will put me ~48 and I fit in another +psi res for 60-70% psi with the scaling proc. There's room for improvement and I'm perfectly willing to move things around and adjust if you see something more, but I'm really happy with the direction this is going.

One thing to note, I couldn't get mids to adjust relative levels on slot for the enhancements I intended to boost without boosting all of them, which gave some odd values. I plan on boosting a few of these, like sprint and mud pots, but couldn't quite get it to work right. Thanks for the advice!

One final question actually, do you think the FF proc in Cross Punch is worth it? It's a pretty low recharge power, with agility, so I'm not sure I'll a return too often. I haven't figured the proc % yet.

It's an aoe, so if you're hitting lots of enemies, your chance is good. Even if it's one enemy your chance is ok

Your chance is (depending on recharge) in the 10% - 15% range on a single target and hitting multiple enemies with a 50 arc/7 range Cone is optimistic.

 

However, even the single target option is still quite good. If you're using Cross Punch every 5 secs, then you're getting a 10% chance of +100% recharge until your next Cross Punch. This translates into +10% recharge over time.

Assuming no recharge slotted, CP with an FF proc should give you:

 

2*(8+1.67)/60/[1+7*(11*50+540)/40000]=

2*9.67 / 60 / 1.19075 = 27.0698%

 

The arc is decent, but probably can't rely on hitting 5 targets unless in farms. But the probability to proc when hitting multiple targets will be 

1: 27.07%

2: 46.81%

3: 61.21%

4: 71.71%

5: 79.37%
