00Troy00 Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 If you pair the -to hit of Dark and the high defense of FF, can you effectively circumvent the softcap for defense?
Force Redux Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) The extra -ToHit will provide a buffer against foes with high accuracy or defense debuffs. But there is always a 5% chance to get hit no matter what you stack. What it can do, however is get you closer to the iCap when you are in Incarnate trials, though many of the AVs while resist the debuffs, as will the purple patch. TLDR: yes, it helps close the gap, but there is still a ceiling. There is no way for a mob to have a lower chance to hit you than 5%. This is the acc cap. If you are asking if you can use your dark powers to makeup for a lack of defense, the answer is sort of. So let's say you have 40% defense, as long as you hit them with your -acc powers first you will effectively have 45% def (or a 5% chance to be hit, the acc cap). The problem is that you can't always hit them first, and often you won't hit them all or you'll aggro another group you haven't hit yet.
Psyonico Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 In addition to what's already been said, I'd like to add slotting -To-hit into Dark attacks means you're sacrificing something else. Damage? don't want to do that, Recharge? Don't want to do that. End Redux? Maybe if you have Cardiac Alpha. Accuracy? Probably don't want to do that unless you have a ton of global accuracy bonuses from IOs. What this team needs is more Defenders
