Cold/Sonic Defender is supposed to be one of the biggest baddest Buff/Debuffers out there and I've been searching through old forums, new forums, and the interwebs all morning and I can't seem to find more than a single one from a new guy wanting the same thing.

Do any of you have a MID's of a Cold / Sonic Defender?

Can point me to a guide for one?

I am a controller by trade, and have recently wanted to build a single team support toon that will compliment all of my many solo toons.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not very fond of most of those builds posted, cold Sonic is my main and I've been meaning to put together a build but in still working on it and game as well

Well I’d love to see it when your done.  A build from someone that actually plays it vs a bunch of theorycrafting would be much better

I would be interested in your thoughts on a sonic/sonic vs a cold/sonic.  I keep going back and forth on which I want to play, after trying Rad/Sonic and being underwhelmed at the combo

The idea behind the cold/sonic is to debuff your enemies into the dirt. Your buffing abilities (shields, leadership, heat loss) will come in handy, but are more secondhand IMO. 

I take every sonic attack that reduces resist, only skipped infrigidate and snowstorm in cold. Took speed (hasten, ss, burnout) jump (CJ, SJ) leadership (maneuvers, tactics) ghost widow (shield, soul drain, summon fortunata) 

Incarnate: A: agility, J: pyronics I: degenerative, L: nemesis, D: clairion, H: support 

I feel like this build is tuned enough to be optimal for teaming, while still having solo capability (pets and soul drain) 

First goal is to get global rech up to: A: sleet up perma, B: perma hasten (currently 62.25% myself) 

Ive had some scraps/blasters hit AVs in the thousands when their resist is in the negatives.

Below is the Cold/Sonic I ran in the original game, 96% recharge, soft capped S/L/E and decent defenses elsewhere.  You could replace some of those purple sets with other new sets without much loss of recharge.

 

Cold/Sonic is great at debuffing hard targets, especially if you have a single hard target to work on like an AV.  Its best powers come later than some of the "early" defenders, like Rad and Dark, and you need a fairly well IO-ed out build for recharge to really max out its capacity, as some of the Cold powers are on long timers instead of being toggles.  It is easier to get defenses on than Rad or Dark, though, because Arctic Fog gives you an in-set base, plus a place for Resist +3% Defense IOs and stealth to boot.

To me, snowstorm feels like such a niche power, that I dont even bother. Admittedly, it was before anchor changes, but a toggle that adds a little slow feels like a waste to me (stun knocks the occasional flier out of the air), when sleet, benumb, and heat loss do the same job.

I was looking for the same thing and came across this thread.  I modified one of the builds in the old COH forums from the link above to suit my needs.  It achieves close to perma-Hasten while having softcapped positional defense and is just shy of the S/L resist cap.  It doesn't use any purple sets or defender sets, so it should cost about 100 million to put together from the AH.

The problem with this build is that it is softcapped for only 12.5 seconds out of about 90. It is achieving softcap pos def through power build up. I have not played this exact combo, but I have played sonic blast and a lot of cold domination on corruptors and defenders. Here is a build I created that I think will work very well. It has perma heat loss, perma benumb, perma hasten, softcapped s/l/e defense and 60.8% s/l def. It can also heal others and yourself reasonably well, while debuffing resistance into the ground.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I don't know how I missed that.  It wasn't supposed to be toggled on.

Something is definitely buggy with that build and the latest version of Pines.  It shows maneuvers and Weave providing far more defense than they should.  I'm going to have to rework my build a lot to get what I want.

I see the issue now.  Hero Planner doesn't show the Incarnate abilities at the default window size and I missed the Clarion Destiny ability that was on.  I'm not sure the bonus reflected in the builder is correct for the later part of the buff, plus it is only up 90s out of 120s, I reworked some things and achieved soft cap positional defenses and S/L resist cap, assuming you take Barrier Core Epiphany, which from what I have read, gives a minimum of 5% defense and 5% or 6% resists for the 120s duration.
