Multiple Accounts

Because I'm quite sure somebody's self-PL'ing/SG Inviting by now...

 

How does multiple accounts work again? I know it has something to do with a 2nd account and instance, but I forgot how that worked or if it even works on this current server.

 

 

EDIT: It seems that the current setup makes this easy, so long as you've made another account. To trigger another instance simply press Play again and it'll launch a new one. Mind you, please try to limit the time spent in a 2nd account until we have green/yellow server loads to be fair for others.

It used to be (and I can't see any reason isn't now) log in twice on separate instances of the game each on a different game account. You could then set one toon to follow the other (typically the second account acting as a heal or buff bot) - or could leave one at the door - the issue was that you couldn't really control both independently. You also needed to be sure your PC was up to handling multiple versions of the game - unlikely to be an issue today

Back in le day it was literally called "dual boxing" because most people couldn't run two copies on the same machine.

If people are doing this; and sadly it's probably happening is selfish & just plain greedy. For every second+ account, that's taking a spot another player/user could be playing.

People don't need more than one account, and if they are doing this, it's just sad...

Playing multiple accounts at this time would be a bit on the selfish side I agree.

 

Using a second account to do things like transfer influence/enh/salvage between alts would seem less so as the second account would only be logged in briefly.

I'm in complete agreement. It's not too much to ask someone to join your SG for a moment and have them invite your alt, and then they can quit the SG, or remain in it, however you want to handle it.

 

And this is coming from someone who used to "dual box" on the same machine to do this kind of thing.

I'd agree - it was generally used because of difficulties in getting a team later in the game - people playing at odd hours on underpopulated servers - not really an issue at present.

Any clue how to trigger a second instance? Back in the day you could simply click the exe a second time and login with a 2nd account, but IDK how it works with this Tequila thing.

It was used quite a lot for those with smaller, more private/casual SGs that would have thematic groups. So like with mine I'd have a 2nd account with an alt per SG whose sole existence was to allow you to add more alts from a single account into the Same SG. True, many would PL a toon to test out powers, so in our current state that wouldn't be all that fair with resources, but the SG add wouldn't take but a couple minutes.

Eh, I don't like bothering people for things I can find a way to do myself. That and I remember doing it before in OG where it could take a whole play session before someone bothered to respond or even be on the same server.
