Considering that a Germany-based EU server (Reunion) already exists, do you think there's any possibility for a west coast USA server? Currently all the North American servers are in Quebec.

I work in Asia and get horrendous lag on all servers (consistently 250+) Based on my experience in other games, the lag is manageable for me if the servers are based on the west coast. In that case it will be in the 150-200 range, which is still isn't ideal but is playable.

Of course, west coast servers would also be loved by the many people who live in that area!

My understanding is the servers being physically located in the nations where they're as it as much for legal reasons as anything else.

Crossing my fingers for Vancouver then...

I'm in Asia and the Canadian servers give me 340 ms while Reunion gives me 250 ms. I've lived with 250 ms from when I played SWTOR on West Coast servers, so Reunion plays fine for me.

Reunion is giving me 250 on a good day, but often hovers around 280 to 330.

This takes me back to when I was playing SVGA Air Warrior on the GEnie dialup network. It was a WWII MOBA, and it handled hit resolution by, when your client thought you got a hit, sending it to the server, which would look at where it thought your target was, and if your shots went through a 'hit bubble' around the target, would count it as a hit. Clearly, the more lag you had, the greater the difference between what you saw and what the server saw. There was a tracker, the "D" value, that showed how many seconds what you were seeing was behind the server's view. On a good day, I had a "D" of fifteen, and could see it climb to thirty. Obviously, trying to hit a maneuvering target was a lost cause, so I became a buff driver -- the ground didn't move, so what I dropped on was where my target would be.

So I have to snicker a bit when I see people complaining about a third of a second lag, because I can see how far things have come from when people would kill to only have a third of a second lag.

Let's not forget that the game was made in an era of high pings, so... I suppose that's one reason it doesn't have/need the twitchy combat (for better or WORSE) that they have these days.

..It only takes one Beanbag fan saying that they JRANGER it for the devs to revert it.

Yeah I was reminded when I was first finding my way to Homecoming while playing off a hotspot with less than wonderful internet that Live was written when dial up was still a thing.  Sometimes old isn't all bad.
