Snarky
I am playing around with an origin story and the closest I can come in CoX to the character is Inv/EM Tank. I have been toying with the idea for a while but just solidified my decision. I will start with one of Hyperstrikes templates for INV and try to throw something together, I usually build Brutes, and am....well, decent. Not great lol. My question (finally!) is about how to build towards Tankyness more than anything else. What tips and tricks can you offer up to guide me towards this? Again, I am a moderately proficient builder but usually build damage oriented Brutes. So, what breakpoints beyond softcap should I look at? Also, what is the incarnate softcap again lol? Thanks for any tips.

Infinitum
Try that, its based on beta and I edited mids to make the powers work, so it likely won't open but its a solid build with good damage, you could swap a few things to add power crash if you wanted. It's pretty much unkillable unless you faint for about an hour or two and you still have a betyer than average shot to still be standing then. :-)

Gobbledigook
I would probably swap the touch of death set with a Hecatomb set and a Winters gift slow resistance into fly. Being slowed isn't fun and the KB of invuln is pretty good especially with good defence. 3 set SAvalanche and 3 set Eradication into Whirling hands. You could always drop afterburner to pick up taunt if you wished. Or take super jump, taunt and maneuvers instead of fly, hover and afterburner. Either way it will be a very strong tanker. What tips and tricks can you offer up to guide me towards this? The tanker ATOs are a good place to start. ATO sets vary wildly in usefulness, but the tanker ones are both good, no-frills sets. Tankers also get very high modifiers in some Power Pools. Invulnerability is very good out of the box and doesn't need much building, other than the psi hole and the slightly middling energy/negative. Invulnerability also gets good early - something that can't be said for all sets. Also: don't get hung-up on the soft cap. It's easy to get a bit myopic and forget that you're likely to have teammates topping you up by at least 5-10% defence because so many people pick Maneuvers. Tankers, simply by having a ton of hit points, can weather things that other archetypes would not survive. I've seen people try to sacrifice 5% resists for 1% defence before in builds, which is foolish. Inspirations exist, and so do teammates. Include both concepts in your build planning. Also also: the taunt is worth taking for the -range debuff alone. Bring everyone into hugging distance, partly because Invincibility benefits from enemies being near to you. Only thing that may be of concern is end management - but you can test that out - if you have any issues you can always slot back energy mastery. I cant pull your build up cause i modified my mids to incorporate the Beta EM stuff, but rule of thumb for me is make sure S/L is at 90% and all the rest at or above 70% with one stack of MotT. Get Melee Defense to 45-50 as close to 50 as you can get. All that combined with Saturated invincibility will make you unkillable unless its exotic stuff - but even then i can sit in the BM blue sword patches indefinitely at the beginning and its not noticeable. They look good though! Edited November 13, 2020 by Infinitum

A Tauntless Tank is an abomination in the eyes of the Tank Gods. You may as well play a Flabby Little Girlie Brute or a Scrapper who thinks they can PAHMP themselves AHP! THank you Hyperstrike! You are my hero builder lol. You and the guy back from live (can't remember handle) who showed what a high recharge DM/Invul Brute could do. Good times. I am having problems opening the build both from copy paste and link. It loads 99% but says the last attack power is placed illeghally and leaves lvl 49 power blank....? I prefer Fly. JEEEEETPAAAAAACK! If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!
Hyperstrike
I did leave the last power blank. And yes, i moved the powers around like Infinitum did to basically mimic the EM Beta stuff. 1 If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK! One thing to note, I fully think Power Crash is worth taking for tankers, if you can make room for it without sacrificing QoL or Strength. Im still on the fence if i want to do it or not. But it is a good power that they are adding in Beta.

It's pretty much unkillable unless you faint for about an hour or two and you still have a betyer than average shot to still be standing then. 🙂 How's the damage on this? I do have an Invul Claw Tank that I like for AOE...will the new EM patch make the damage comparable/better do you think?

With WH getting buffed and adding PC which hits more under Focus AOE is decent, but the big hitter is EM under focus, TF buffed, and EP buffed. Its a ST monster with decent AOE potential. Well, ToF isnt bad IMO the thing that makes it not sit well is an illusion because ToF works well, improves performance - but losing the shadow maul cap is what makes it seem kinda meh. If you hadn't had shadow maul buffed then got the update thats coming - it would feel pretty good I think from testing it objectively.
