Here is the build I have been using for my serious badging.

Pros:

Down levels very well

Good mix of melee and range

Good AOE

Good team defense

30% team damage bonus at 50 due to double assault

Incarnate soft capped to all m/r/aoe

Soft capped to everything else except psi

Dominate plus hold proc in follow up give you a decent amount of hold time. Bosses get held more than 50% of the time in one application of dominate.

Cons:

Expensive, lots of purple sets

End hungry at 50 in sustained combat. You need either ageless or cardiac

End hole betwen 39-44. You can't run all your toggles

Note:

I prefer Coercive Persuasion in Aura of Confusion. I find Confuse a rhythm breaker and don't use it except soloing very hard content

Aura will routinely confuse bosses because of the proc if the group is large enough. The larger the group the better the results

Binds, optional of course, but folks might find them useful:

q powexec_name Gloom
e powexec_name Dominate
t powexec_location target "Psionic Tornado"
g powexec_name Confuse
h powexec_name "Mind Link"

The build depends on Mind Link for that softcap but you have very little slow resistance.

Hasten is also not perma which means you will have gaps in Mind Link uptime, not a huge deal but perfectionists will probably look at that weird. If you get slowed at all though bye bye softcap.

Doesn't the malaise proc cause aggro? I get the def bonus but could cause issues with situations that call for stealth.

You missed an opportunity for the FF proc in psi nado, I consider that proc a better investment than a damage proc.

This is the build I'm running around with, you can switch lunge and confuse with spirit ward and ROP for more early game offense. I dropped aim and experimented with having the build up procs in my natural attack chain and I like it so far.

Downtime on hasten was the first thing i noticed i don't know why i didn't point it out, i just assumed there was an ff+rech in nado but i don't know if they proc off av's or even if you'd use it in an attack chain vs one.

Posted

Don't know why i thought the ff+rech wasn't firing off against av's i just tested it again as i run 2 in the current build and the one in the single target attack chain of tk blast does fire off.

Any proc that debuffs or damages will notify the mobs. Confusion is really only there for very tough content.

What do I mean by tough, a cluster of 3-4 particularly nasty bosses in a group or close together.  So, I prep them from stealth, before using AOC.

I am seriously considering dropping confusion in my next iteration. I don't use it enough for the slots it takes. Though I will miss the quick confuse on a enemy pet. It's fun to watch a grav pet turn on it's master. Or a decoy phantom attack it's confused phantom master.

As for Psionic Tornado, I wanted max debuff/damage. I have soured a bit on FF recharge. I just didn't see it firing enough. At higher levels I don't use it as much. A lower levels I want the damage.

Nemu's build is of course very good. But I know how I play and I won't remember to use ROP.

Also, I solo at lot of low level Oro missions, I want a full attack chain sub 20.

I don't focus on super tweaking my builds anymore. So, there's probably several small bonuses I am missing,  I will take a look and what you suggested.

Forts are stupidly versatile, lots of builds work.  I have defeated a dozen or more even level AV-Heros in single combat with this build.

Only two AVs forced me to use Peeple's wedding ring, 30% resist toggle, Black Scorpion and Hopkins. They have a nasty quick 1-2 punch.

To be clear, I liberally use insp when fighting AVs.

I might change my tune on resists once I start trying to solo all the TFs. An 54 ITF when primarily in melee range will be tough.

Also, I am discovering the joys of the teleportation pool. So, I will be putting some more builds out soon. A post my builds mostly as inspiration rather than templates.

Posted

I enjoy the posts i like looking at other players builds but i'd never consider using one everyone plays differently, i could never give up superspeed and combat jump for example and rely on sprint and one of the prestige powers to get about so my own builds are always going to have to skip some useful stuff to squeeze in travel. I don't number crunch, if mids says perma hasten or close to and 45% to stuff thats good enough for me. So please continue with the posts they give everyone lots of ideas and there's so few people playing VEAT's even if they have one now, you only regularly see them come out if someone announces an all VEAT team.

Great build.

This is really close to the build I have (w/o confuse). I find mixing melee/ranged attacks with the Fortunata to be very effective. Follow up - Strike - Spin - Psychic Tornado is nice. But I skipped the Epics to get the Fortunata's nuke .  Also, double leadership and mind link are super nice if you team a lot.

Thanks for the post!

I'm curious how the choice of both the ST and AOE Confuse powers are going for you.

I found Aura of Confusion to be too busy - meaning in most of my experiences where I intend to confuse a target, I focus the magnitude on using multiple applications of Confuse instead of getting multiple targets confused.

I only use the single target confuse for soloing hard stuff.

I will use Aura of Confusion quite often as an alpha strike when teaming and solo. When Psychic Wail is down.

I tried to use the AoE confuse in similar situations, but found that confused enemies were defeated the same speed as non-confused enemies. Meaning it didn't have a noticeable impact on gameplay and left me feeling I wasted a power pick and a few slots.

It probably comes down to playstyle and build goals. After watching Kanil's Fort in the trapdoor thread in ages past, and how using AoC saved their run, I replaced Total Domination with AoC and use it similarly. Either as an OS button or to 'Alpha' an enemy group in order to defray their return fire; not damage them.

I slot it like Kaizen to get procs for bosses. It's also just good group Mez, for when that's needed.

Looking at your build from another thread it seems really tanky, so the defensive utility probably isn't there for you and it doesn't make sense for you to work it in.

Yeah this is exactly my thoughts. It's just so awesome how wide the playstyle can be on this Archetype. I'm actually thinking of using the double Confuse build strategy on my third build slot.
