Fast Travel - Returning Player

Hello, it has been almost a year since I last played. I can usually pick up on new stuff quite fast, but I am slightly confused on the changes to travel and zone teleportation.

 

When I last played, there was this macro that everyone used that teleported you to a special base, filled with portals and other useful stuff, from anywhere in the world. Between that macro and Ouroboros, you could get anywhere in the game pretty fast. It seems, though, this macro no longer works. When I click it, it says I need to be near a Super Group portal.

 

I tried reading patch notes and stuff and even checked for guides on how people get around now, but all I could find was this thing on Long Range Teleport being an accolade now. So, I am asking anybody on the forums, how do people get around these days? Does everyone just use that long range teleport option? Do people still use the macro, but now I just need to travel to a Super Group Portal? Was there some sort of functionality added to the UI I have not noticed yet?

 

I am leveling a new Controller and I would like to know this information before I attempt a Task Force. Nobody wants to be that person who takes forever to travel to the next mission. Thank you,

   There are actually a few TP options you can use, with Ouroborus and the LRT being just two of them. Most servers also have at least one public transport system/base that everyone can use to get around in quickly and easilly, so this might be what you are looking for. To find out that though you would need to let us know what server you play on. I know of a couple on the Reunion server that are quite useful, and then there is the Cosmic Transport on Excelsior which I use a LOT lol. So let us know @Bonkleberry, and we can list some for you. 🙂

 

   Note: Though personally I use keybinds, not macro's... 😁

I am playing on Excelsior. Cosmic Transport was the Macro I used before. It was not working when I tried it. Did they change how it works?

   Of course you have to be standing near a base portal to use the Macro CT, but I am sure you already knew that... 😁

Yeah, that is what changed. You used to be able to use the macro without standing near a portal. Ho hum. It is what it is.

I already read that, thanks. It makes no mention of what happened with the macro and, of course, does not take into account what the new norm is in the community. I just says what changed.

The first section ("Changes to the /enterbasefrompasscode Command") is all about what happened with the macro, since the macro uses the /enterbasefrompasscode command.

"Why is it being removed?
Firstly, it’s not being removed. You can still use this command anywhere you would normally be able to access a base (ie: near a base portal or after using a base teleportation power, including Base Transporter and Long Range Teleporter), which is how it should've always behaved. It can also be used if you're already inside a supergroup base.

 

As for why it’s being changed, well that’s simple: You should not be able to teleport to any base, instantly, with no cost, regardless of your character’s level or progress, by using a simple slash command."

 

   But that shouldn't be a problem as you now have access to be able to summon a SG Portal whenever you want (its in the PTW vendor)...

You can activate the LRT and use the same /enterbasefrompasscode macro to get to the same bases from before. You can also use the PTW powers/day job powers a

 

They do have cooldowns on them,but between them and just going to a portal it's not bad.

Once you've bought the various team teleport, teleport to mission, base portal type powers from the P2Win vendor and unlocked Oroborous, I find I don't really miss the instant nase teleport any more.  There's a wealth of travel options now and the brand-new travel power changes make us even more mobile.

Un Reunion I have my own base to get around. It isn't as fancy as those public ones, but gets the job done. I haven't created or joined a SG on Excelsior yet, my new home, but I have some of the other mentioned transports on most of my alts so I can get around.

You can buy base teleporter for, what, 1 mil? from p2w, which does whats on the tin. Also,  you can get monitor duty teleport, which also does whats on the tin.

I usually still take the train and the boats, unless I need to be somewhere fast, then I use Ouroberos and the Long Range Teleporter.

I like travelling in the "real world" it makes you meet other people and feels more real. It might be a bit of roleplaying.

I also love reading people's back stories while I wait for the train.

 

I find that especially with the updates to the travel powers, getting around even without the teleports and portals is usually fast enough. Much more zones have base portals now as well, and putting teleports in your base is free nowadays.

 

But usually I just bounce, fly and run around. It makes me feel like a Superhero/villain. It's like Spiderman slinging though New York, it is an important part of many of my characters.
