Which human form powers work in nova or dwarf?

Recommended Posts

I found sparse and conflicting infos on the forum and nothing on the hcwiki. I know from my own warshade that

  • Ebon Eye works in Nova
  • neither Shadow Bolt nor Shadow Blast work in Nova

Do these work in Dwarf form though?

Ebon Eye and Glinting Eye both work in their respective Nova forms, while Shadow Bolt and Gleaming Bolt both work in their respective Dwarf forms.  No other powers besides the inherent Fitness work while transformed; even your auto +Res power is disabled (though the resistance is baked into Nova's passive stats anyway).  They are changed slightly, I believe the Eyes have more damage and range in Nova while the Bolts have lower range but an extra taunt effect and stronger debuffs in Dwarf.  As far as I'm aware these changes came extremely late in the game's lifespan, possibly even during the Score days.  They're not mentioned on the old wiki either.

Wait, in-game texts?!? What kind of witchery is this?

Well, I would have said, that Eye and Bolt working is squid/dwarf was not a thing in in the olden days.

Thanks for your answers!

Lol, clickery-witchery. If you're logged on the AT and want to read complete power descriptions, /respec, can buy one from AH for cheap if you don't have. Or, character creation screen, pull up the AT and read the powers.

Since Ebony Eye is amazing in Nova (decent damage, closes attack cycle), is Shadow Bold as great in Dwarf?

Not really. You can see the numbers on CoD2 here and compare to the human form version here. It's not bad - as mentioned before you get a stronger debuff, a bit more damage, and a mag 1 taunt - but the reduced range makes it less than ideal: the range is 20', which is the radius of Orbiting Death. That means you still have to either shift or else go chasing after runners.

Incandescence used to work while in nova or dwarf form, didn't it? Or did I dream that?

The Incarnate power? Never played on that level.

CoD2 is an awesome resource, thank you for providing a link.

Sorry, I forgot that there is more than one power with the word Incandescence in it. No, I was referring to https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=peacebringer_defensive.luminous_aura.incandescence&at=peacebringer <-- the first power in the PB secondary powerset. The power's description says "This Auto power is always on and costs no Endurance.", but from what I can tell, it does not provide its very nice eng/negeng resistance buff while in nova or dwarf.

I wonder if this is a new thing or it was always meant to work that way and I just never noticed before.

For reference, I have a lvl 50 PB which I have not played in months but recently took out of mothballs and respecced to play only in Nova and Dwarf form, not in Human form. Not that this is pertinent to my question above, really, just thought I would mention it.

You're welcome for the link, but I just use it all the time - @UberGuy is the one that put it together and who really deserves thanks.

You can see this on CoD also - restrictions on powers show up when you hover over the icons:

Peacebringer_Blaster_Mode and Peacebringer_Tanker_Mode are internal names for Nova and Dwarf. Since it's disallowed in those modes, it doesn't work. I don't remember it ever working in forms, either, but my memory has gotten pretty bad.
