I have had this idea on my mind for a while and wanted to suggest a throwback Thursday. maybe one a month and each month the server rolls back to old versions of things ppl miss and or are nostalgic about. Example one would be to remove the aggro limit and allow tankers and other archetypes to be able to round up as many guys as they want. one thing i have always heard from early adopters of this game were the dumpster diving days in bricks where they could round up the whole map. that sounds like something that would be fun to experience. I am sure there would be other things ppl would like to experience like this. If we have others add what they miss or would like to see i am sure you could start a list of diff things ppl could experience. Could be a learning experience as well as we could see first hand why certain things were changed. ✌️

If the aggro and target limits are baked into the code, this would require a patch update for every time it occurs, and all the updates the HC developers make would have to be applied to both versions

For that alone I'm thinking while the concept in general is interesting rolling back stuff is a non-starting.  But I'm no programmer or coder either.  And I wouldn't want resources redirected to provide something that another CoX developer or group might already provide.

And while I understand the curiosity of seeing aggro and target caps effectively removed when you've never seen it, after all that's a lot of why I experienced it back then, I can safely say I've no interest in that sort of experience again myself and the day would simply be one I'd skip to do  other things.

Yeah. "Rolling back" isn't as easy in some cases as just changing numbers. (Plus, once you start looking at *everything* that would be affected - say, "roll back to launch!" means no IOs, max level of 40, no capes, I want to say no extra costumes, no red or gold sides, armors exclusive to each other... and that's just the tip of the tip of the iceberg.

We've got the code from sunset, not all the changes made in all the years before that. (As interesting as I think that would be.)

Well, good programming practice is to document changes, both in the design document and in the code. And when we all stop laughing at the idea of this having been followed with CoH (if it had, we wouldn't have seen so many 'update this, break that' patches), it's something that we should try to follow going forward; unfortunately, we don't have an archive of previous versions to know how things were changed to be able to revert them.
