Permadom PSA - Base buffs

Recommended Posts

I'm deep into permadom on my Plant/Energy/Psi, but found even more +Recharge last night while getting set up to permadom without Hasten.  This should make getting early permadom even easier for my Dominator brothers and sisters.

You can get a buff from your SG base which gives +20% Recharge and lasts for an hour (I think, it last for a long time, but there's no buff duration listed.)  You can get a couple of other buffs too (KB and various Mez resistances.)  It takes 3 salvage components, but those are cheap and 5k or so for a 1 hour buff is worth it, compared to the number of set bonuses you'd have to stack to get 20% recharge.

SG bases and all components are free, sign up in the City Hall in Atlas Park.  You can add a basic crafting table, a teleporter to 10 locations (you know all the locations automatically,) a nurse to buy and sell from, and get a basic base in 10 minutes.  You want to create a "Mystic Crucible" or a "Supercollider."  They're free, might as well make both!  That'll give you more options for salvage to trade in.  Then find Increase Attack Speed and trade in whatever salvage you've got.  Or grab some from the AH.

A Base Transporter is a good investment.  It'll let you teleport to your base every 30 minutes, and then teleport right back to where you were.  So keeping the 1 hour buff up shouldn't be a problem.  And you can use your base's teleport pad to get back to most other Zones quickly as needed.

You can also get a 30% Recharge buff as one of the Secondary Mutation powers, which seems to come up fairly often.

Very cool post.  I might make SG base just for this purpose, thank you!

compared to the number of set bonuses you'd have to stack to get 20% recharge.

2 you need 2 set bonuses to get 20 percent recharge. That is if they are the good sets purples or atuned ATOs. If not but they are the orange sets then 3 most of those sets have 6.25 per 5 pieces so 3 gives you almost 20 percent. 20 percent is really nothing to get in recharge. Hell Gaze of the Basilisk or whatever it is called can be slotted in a hold power and maxed at level 30. Same with Luck of the Gambler recharge bonus IOs.

The real question is to me is why would anyone try to make a perma dom without Hasten to begin with. Its a 70 percent recharge bonus and by the time you pick up enough recharge to make up the difference to reach perma dom Hasten is only down like 4 seconds. So it is essentially a always on buff at that point.

QuiJon, you seem kind of hostile about this, I'm trying to help people.

There's a very simple reason to get to perma-Dom without Hasten: You only have one Auto Power.  I want to be able to put Domination on Auto, run a mission, and then have perma-Dom even if I'm not watching Hasten like a hawk.  I can travel or read chat or got get a drink without losing Domination.  I still have Hasten, but I don't need to click it to keep Perma-Dom.  It's been a great QoL change and I highly recommend pushing to 125% Global recharge for it.

2 Purple sets, or 3-4 other sets it a pretty big deal to most people.  But in particular, I mentioned it so that people can get to perma-Dom earlier in their builds.  If you can get perma-Dom (w/Hasten) reliably at level 22 instead of waiting to 32 to have 10 more slots to get 2 more 5 piece set bonuses, that's a win.  It's basically always going to be easier with a free extra 20% Recharge, until you're deep into Perma-Dom/Perma-Hasten/Perma-Dom without Hasten.

... how tough is it to click a second button every two minutes?

but also, "just get two purple sets lol" is not really helpful advice - some of us have builds that don't call for many purples (or would only use the expensive ones like apocalypse and ragnarok).  and, the point of the thread was ways to get permadom early, but you can't slot purples until level 50 anyway, so it's quite unhelpful if you're still leveling :)

I'm not really pushing Permadom without Hasten.  Although now that I've done it, I recommend it. :)

It's not hard to click every two minutes while you're running a mission.  But I found that while running between missions, or playing around on the AH, I'd get a little tunnel vision, or I'd want to get up and take a break.  And seeing my Dom bar crash, then having to rebuild it on the first couple of mobs in the next mission, was annoying.  This is much more about protecting your Domination bar than actually needing Dom while you're idle.

So there's good news here. Enhancement converters mean that all purple sets cost about the same nowadays.

Granted, but still more expensive than non-purple sets.  And still no good for leveling.  But yeah, definitely cheaper.

This was a useful and appreciated post. It's been so long that I'd forgotten about most of the base stuff.

Here's my current build.  Add another 20% from Base Buffs.  I'd like to re-build to fit in Power Burst (maybe drop Power Push or Power Boost, even though Power Boost is great in general) for another FF proc, and I definitely will once the Instant Snipe/Energy Assault changes go through.  Having to slot Tactics and Link Mind that hard is definitely a hassle.  But current Instant Snipes+FF is worth it.  I probably should drop Kinetic Crush, since I'm well past my Recharge target and the extra KB isn't doing a lot of work.
