I think it's been like this for at least a month. Reported via support ticket due to exploitable nature but been told it's probably fine and to report this here instead if i believed it's a bug. Aside from the fact I don't recall this behavior in the past, I'd wager a +800% dmg or +526% Defense inspiration is probably a mistake, so here I am.

TL;DR: Friendship OP pls nerf

Haven't you ever heard of the gift that keeps on giving?

Being constantly offended doesn't mean you're right, it just means you're too narcissistic to tolerate opinions different than your own.

Ha ha ha. Gift that keeps on giving. Good one. This is an old bug. It was fixed on live, but apparently it has come back. The presents are not supposed to keep applying unless additional presents are used to gain the effect multiple times.

I was given a damage one last year during a hami raid.  Used it and saw all those present buffs and went to count how many i had.  I forgot to refresh EoE and i died.  @Anyad said it was the best gift she ever gave.

If this is a bug, it has to be that the presents are supposed to buff people around you instead of giving you a buff for each person, but given that all 5 presents (not including the Coal that does nothing anyway) are set to be stackable AoEs, there does seem to be intent behind that.

The bug is that each present is only supposed to apply once per target in its radius of effect per use. So if multiple players pop the same present inspiration, the effects stack on everyone in the affected area, but is only supposed to apply once per present inspiration.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you're talking about the screenshot above, it looks like its working as its supposed to. There are 10 pets plus himself, so the inspiration gave him 11 stacks of the buff. The present inspirations do not buff anyone except for the caster. The only bug here is whether the buff being on self is intended.

Present inspirations are supposed to affect all friendly units within their area of effect, capped at 16 targets. Each target is supposed to be affected only a single time per present used. If the bug is specific to MMs, then it is because it is counting each pet as the MM and applying more than once to the MM. If the bug happens to teams, then it is misapplying to the user rather than the team. To get multiple present effects to stack on a target requires the use of multiple presents, just like every other inspiration in the game. All inspirations other than the revive ones stack. However, present and team inspirations apply to groups of players rather than just the using player.

The fact the present says it has a target of self is because you cannot use an inspiration on another target as if it were a power. You click it in your inspiration tray and it immediately gets used. On you. That is the "self" target. With an added AoE for team and present inspirations.

Look at the presents in City of Data. For example the defense present, of course has a target of self being a point blank AoE, but then its effect is "+33% Defense (All) (self only) for 60s". The "self only" in the effect means that it will buff the caster of the power for each target that was hit by the AoE. This has nothing to do with pets being counted as the mastermind, you would get exactly the same effect if you were standing in a group of players waiting to do Hamidon.

The only bug here is whether that design is intended because its a little counter-intuitive.

Look at the Team defense inspiration. It reads the exact same as the presents  for everything except Entities Affected and Entities Autohit (which both read the same for their respective inspiration). Team says Entities Affected/Autohit: Player Teammate (Alive), Self. So it buffs those on your team within range and you. Now Presents says Entities Affected/Autohit: Ally (Alive), Self. It buffs all allies within range and you. Presents were never meant to buff just the user, they always buffed all players (and allied NPCs with a lower priority) with a limit of 16 targets buffed.

I don't know why City of Data says Self only for the standard effect for presents. The activation data lists everything the inspiration affects.
