LoyalHulk Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Hi, trying to get back into playing the game as a Brute. I am interested in Rad as a secondary and I see most builds take every power in it. Which powers are skip-able and which are ones that want a lot of slots? Thanks!

It has a long recharge and animation. On the plus side it can take procs and can be an extra AoE. Some like it but a lot don't. If you want an extra AoE pickup Dark obliteration in the epic soul mastery pool and proc it out, much better than GZ. Meltdown is not always necessary depending on build. A brute might get some good use out of it though. Plus it does give extra damage. Of those 2 i would drop GZ first. Radiation therapy can be 6 slotted with procs for an AoE attack. Particle shielding is worth 6 slotting with preventive medicine or 5 slot panacea. Edited January 19, 2022 by Gobbledegook
Without_Pause Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Dark Obliteration also requires taking another power so it might not be as simple as taking it over Ground Zero. I would take Ground Zero, but then I'm realistic about what I'm looking for from a utility power from a secondary. Meltdown can be a good place for one off IOs. GB and BD can be one slotted. GZ doesn't take much. You basically want to load up on everything else. 1 Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute. 10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller. "Downtime is for mortals. Debt is temporary. Fame is forever."
Gobbledigook Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Gloom is a really good Prerequisite for Dark Obliteration and is usually a dps gain to most builds.
SuperPlyx Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Yeah but putting the Avalanche Chance for Knockdown proc in GroundZero works so damn good and it's fun! 2
Uun Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Gamma Boost doesn't need more than the base slot. Beta Decay and Meltdown are fine with 1-2 slots. Uuniverse
Thrax Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Ground zero is unique as it also heals everyone in range. It’s just a fun power in general. 1
IronJuke Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Ground Zero and Beta Decay together will strip enemies of quite a bit of their Defense and also Resistance if you slot Achilles Heel. You could drop both or use them to soften enemies for your team.

arcane Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Don’t skip anything except maybe Meltdown. Put 6 procs in Radiation Therapy and don’t question us on this 🙂 Put at least a couple procs in Ground Zero. Ultimately it should look about like: Radiation Therapy / Ground Zero / Particle Shielding = most likely 6 slots... everything else probably 2-4 slots, only one slot needed for Beta Decay.

But I'm taking it this go round, because of it's other benefits. Taking Taunt as well. Mobs were stuck to me like glue without using Beta Decay. Everything a Brute does has an inherent Taunt.
