Mr. ITF build suggestions / review

Here is my current build for my INV/SS tank.  I have had it for about a year and technically there is nothing wrong with it, I just want to see if anyone has some opinions from a different perspective.  From day one I really wanted to work in hand clap for the AOE and knock down factor but just could not find a way to work it in without major sacrifices. I am wondering if there is a way to get a bit more recharge since my attack chain is so short. I am currently working on getting Agility Core Paragon  to swap with Musculature Core Paragon.  I have such a high cap on def  especially if you consider Invincibility.  With just 4 foes I'm capped on all def types except Psionic and 56% to 69% when invincibility is maxed.  As you can guess from the title this is kind of a one trick pony. He does ITF's, not much else. I team with my wife a lot (Mrs. ITF) and run defeat most +4's with lower lvl teammates (35's to 40ish) to help get them closer to 50.

If all you do is ITF with that build then all the toxic/psi resist bonuses are irrelevant. You can also break up the superior gauntleted fist set in KO blow into 2 sets of 3 for more energy/neg E resist. There's also not a lot of fire/cold damage on that TF so the F/C defense bonuses can be shaved off too. With those shaved slots you can look to bump up your eng/NE def/resists, recharge, recovery, and if you value it, slow resist.

If you want to fit handclap in, drop assault.  Assault is pretty low return on investment.

I came up with this - focusing on more E/N def and resists. You don't need tough to hit S/L resist cap and two less toggles means better end consumption. Energy torrent replaces laser beam eyes as another source of KD and mitigation that you can use when rage crashes and you need to buy some time. AoE>single target against stuff that can cause defense cascade failure - wipe out the fodder fast and you reduce the amount of debuffs that will land on you.

Looks like Nemu’s got you on the right track RE: E/N mitigation.

I didn’t used to think it was the ideal resistance shield, but I know a lot of people that spend half their time running ITF’s (and half of the other half running Apex-Tin Mage, perhaps)… and I’ve never seen so many people running Dark Embrace. Like often not even with Soul Drain or whatever other reason you’d think of going Dark or Soul.

Solid build, for sure.

My go to for ITF is NUTCRCKR and the build is posted in this thread:

(along with some great discussion about all-around builds).  I went Pyre Mastery, for ST hold (Char) and debuff (Melt Armor), instead of Energy.  Yes, I get blinded without FA, but just stomp my way through it 😁.

Couple comments:

-NUT never needs Dull Pain, so the PM +absorb and Rebirth incarnate aren't needed.  I put PM +absorb in Health and Ageless for Destiny...if you're going to focus solely on ITF, I'd take the DDR version (Radial), mainly to help your teammates out.  The debuffs on that TF are brutal.

-I always try to find a slot for the Performance Shifter +End unique, which could go in Stamina or Physical Perfection.

-Invincible is a great place for the Gaussian +Build Up, as it procs constantly.

-I'd swap SGF and SBC from Jab and KOB, since the +absorb is (IMHO) more important than the hold.  In Jab, it procs constantly.

-The +psi damage proc (Perfect Zinger) is great in Taunt.  The range Enh is nice, but extra damage is always appreciated.

-Speaking of extra damage, I use six pieces of Hecatomb in Foot Stomp.  With Hasten up, it recharges in >7 seconds already, so I'll take the extra damage over the FF +recharge.  That allows me to use Kick, instead of Boxing, and put the FF proc there...even though it's just for $hits and Giggles, but I have a thing about empty slots, both in game and in Mid's.

Just my $,02 influence

I did try a dark build on my search for the perfect Mr. ITF but the end drain was to much for my liking. I also like more aoe style play.  not so much damage per say thats what other archetypes are for.

Yeah don’t play Dark Armor without Ageless or Cardiac, that’d be silly talk.

I just meant I see tons of my ITF farming friends running Dark Embrace from the epic pools on their Corruptors/Defenders/Etc. Invuln will do the job but if you want to max out effectiveness on ITF, you want to focus on DDR and on bonuses for E/N res, E/N def

Just a note as it's probably creeping around the back of @PLVRIZR's brain but Performance Shifter +end is not a unique.  You could put one in both Stamina and Phys Per if you wanted.

I did do that originally and actually having the lvl 50+5 IO's made more of a noticeable difference then the Performance Shifters I had in stamina and Phys Per

Yep no argument there.  Whole threads have been devoted to discussing the various combinations of slots used (or available) and what gives you the best bang for the buck with those combos.  And it's not always just what yields the most end.  Maybe end is solid already so going with less slots or different set because it offers better set bonuses or a whole slew of other considerations.  Using at least 3 Perf Shift in both Stamina and PP was just as important in my Claws/SR build as the end generated as that is where the set also gives you +max health.  Happily I could also get a PS +end in each as well for the end boost.

thanks for all the info Nemu.  Your Build looks awesome and thank you very much for the time you must of spent on it.  It literally checks all my boxes from working in Hand Clap to the recharge procs to keep my attack chain going.  I am taking off work early to go and start my respec LOL.

I stand corrected (but it should be unique) 😁

And I don't use Hand Clap, but I'm sure I've seen builds with procs that do damage, so you might also look into that.  With the sheer numbers of baddies in ITF, every little bit helps.

I wanted it for the agro management and Knock down (well kb to kd proc) plus the recharge proc that can be slotted.  It puts my foot stomp to 3 sec. recharge.   Just finished my first ITF run and it is just as survivable as my build if not better cause I actually have more damage and faster recharge.  Once my muscle memory gets trained for my new attack chain itll be even smoother and more fluid.

Okay, you're soft-capped when 4 are in range.  BEFORE DEBUFFS.

Your basic build isn't terrible.
HOWEVER.
+4 Cims are going to be ROUGH on you.
Also, Hand Clap is great if you want to FEEL powerful.
But it's actively detrimental to your ability to Tank.
KB2KD ameliorates this somewhat.
But it's just the waste of a power pick.

Also, if built right, Tough is nothing more than a set mule that can be left turned off.

Here's a simple look at a similar build to yours.  Soft-capped with ONE in range.
Nearly S/L capped with ZERO in range.
And is dropping a ToHit debuff on every attack.

I've extolled the virtues of thunder clap/handclap and other PBAOE KB powers when they are slotted with a KD proc for a while now. It's powers like these that allow me to faceroll content on my fire/elec blaster. They provide mitigation, stop runners, and can be chained with other KD powers to keep mobs flopping, they also stun and are good FF proc mules.

A lot of people poo poo these powers because they don't do damage. Just because they don't do damage doesn't mean they aren't useful, and there are synergies with using it and footstomp during rage crash to mitigate incoming damage. These types of active mitigation are a means to how you can get away with having less than softcap defense on certain builds, like this, this, or this. The ability to slot the FF proc in them is a bonus. So I fully endorse you picking up and using handclap 👍

My build places a lot of emphasis on slow resist because of the nictus -recharge debuffs. If you feel that you can do with less, then swap out the blistering colds and avalanches in KO blow and/or Footstomp and replace them with damage procs (if you have to pick one, KO blow can slot 2 purple damage procs and that would be the one I recommend). You'll lose a healthy chunk of slow resist but you gain the ability to continue doing some damage during rage crash.
