UPDATE: BUILD INCLUDED - Tanking the HYDRA PYLONS of APEX no inspirations, no temps - Dark/Radiation Defender.

EDITED one more time -- Added the video vs Clamor @ Lvl 25.
Dark Miasma / Radiation blast defender.  Why ?  I was thinking of all the runs we do without incarnates on the ITF, and other hard mode challenges we do in other task forces or trials.

I wanted a Defender that could debuff everything or almost everything ( except I was not going to try to aim for -endurance debuffs)

So I came up with a Dark Miasma/Radiation defender, which does not need ageless nor will it suffer from endurance issues with constant use.

1. Very strong defense debuffs
2. Resistance debuffs
3. Strong Regen debuffs
4. Damage debuffs
5. To hit debuffs
6. Slows

7. More dmg debuffs
8. Provide a strong AoE heal
9. Provide dmg resistances
10. Provide large area defense

And I wanted to make such a defender as super tanky as I can while not sacrificing other details.
I wanted to play something not generally seen
So the combo arose
Dark Miasma and Radiation secondary.
This combo is not seen much.

I will keep posting in these upcoming days, more videos on it and the build as well.

Accomplishments so far with this combo -

1.Solo'd part 2 of the ITF at 54x8 no inspirations
2. Did Part 2 of the ITF , same settings, in a duo with another dark defender.
3. Tanked and stood there close to the pylons in Apex, Hydra phase in sewers, while in a duo with a blaster, we did duo the APEX trial with no inspirations, no temps, 54x8.
4. Market Crash hard mode as seen in the video below.
5. Solo'd task forces at low levels and killed the AVs solo as well.
If I remember what else, I will edit the post.

Here he is face TANKING THE HYDRA PYLONS of the APEX trial by himself at max settings and NO INSPIRATIONS, NO TEMPS.

The build is below ---

A few notes about the build.

1. I need high resists to negative energy, energy, smashing, lethal, and some in toxic.
2. I need Soft cap defense to positional damage, in this case range.
3. I need to be independent of Ageless incarnate because this character IS AND WILL be able to run the ITF in small teams WITHOUT INCARNATES and at lvl 44 exempted down).   The total amount to endurance recovery is a must.  I have fined tuned the build to the point where I can remain busy and still just fine with endurance.
4. I have very good recharge rate while meeting the above requirements.
5. I went with Vigor for the bigger heals, both for me and my pet (if pet is needed).

I build with the end in mind and for what I need to do with the build.

What is old is new again my new friend. (We had fun on the defender Positron run on Sunday IIRC). Before sonic blast, water blast, power proliferation, there were a number of Dark/rad defenders in the Triumphant Defenders on live. I don't know why or how the popularity has dropped other than both the secondary and primary are tried and true powersets for defenders. I agree: I have not seen a lot of them on Homecoming. Too many Dark/seismic blast running around perhaps.

Congratulations on finding a defender combo of abilities that suits your tastes.

Yes, last Sunday was fun indeed.

Dark Miasma is an old but still a classic, tested, proven, reliable.  But not very many of those in combo with radiation.  I don't see a whole lot of dark miasma defenders anymore either.

But it sure is GREAT.

I've been playing Dark Miasma/Rad Blast for ages. I had a lvl 50 defender on live going back to 2005/06 and remade it as a corruptor on HC right after launch. Still one of my favorites.

One of the few, the proud...   Not very many running that combo.  Good to see 🙂

I love my dark/dp defender. I think it's kept me from rolling any other Defenders bc I'm afraid any others won't be anywhere close to it.

After the changes to weapon sets, things only got better and better.  Assault R might be even something worth looking into for fun since the DPA in AR just got better

Now, if the Devs can finally show us some love and do the changes they been meaning to do already ....  shorten the animation times for Dark miasma and for Radiation Emissions... PLEASE !

How does this build do in PvE, and why Black Hole? Doesn't that piss off your teammates?

What I showcase was all PVE. All those videos , that was all PVE.
Also , there is a video that explains or shows how I used Black Hole effectively and to help the team
Instruments are good but it depends on how you are using them and the timing ; it comes down to the player

I just watched the first video where you're tanking the pylon with @FUBARczar. That was literally the first time I've seen a Defender do that without becoming instant road pizza. I'm still trying to get my Incarnates to T4 though. I see you have Void Judgement, Clarion, Support Hybrid, and Talons of Vengeance Lore if I'm not mistaken. Are those Core or Radial?

I think it is the first time it has ever been done, without inspirations and without temp powers, by a defender, at least verifiably.

I have both currently, but Talons, I started with the healer first.

But you can go that way or Longbow (with the healer and heavy) or you can go Bnsh Panth.

Yes, VOID radial, Clarion Radial,  support hybrid (for endurance discount and a tiny leadership stuff for bonus).
You dont have to go hybrid support.  You can also go assault radial.  If you running ageless or Cardiac
