Ridiculous Girl
there is a notable discrepancy that winter origin enhancements cost 100 merits each, and yet sell routinely for 20+million on the market. but ATOs also cost 100 merits to buy, but sell for only 6 to 8 million apiece. i know that you can buy winter packs for 25 million off the market, with the possiblity of getting either 0, 1, or 2 winter enhancements, plus extra goodies. i know that you can also buy hero packs for 10 million, with the possibility of getting 1, 2, or no ATO enhancements. the problem is that the merit cost discepancy means that there are few ATOs on the market but a glut of winter set enhancements. it really makes things weird, because you want to spend your merits and influence wisely, but you have to do it in a round about way if you want to kit yourself out in ATOs without involuntarily driving up the prices for the rest because of the scarcity. Β i do not know what can be done to fix this. i sort of doubt raising the merit prices for winter sets would be a good idea without causing a huge ruckus. but reducing merit prices seems weird. i wish something would change though. Β is there a reasonable solution? π "I'm not crazy, my reality is just different than yours" the Cheshire Cat "Ce n'est rien de mourir; c'est affreux de ne pas vivre" (It's nothing to die, it's terrible not to live) Jean Valjean "ΩΨ·Ω Ψ§ΩΩ Ψ±Ψ‘ ΩΩΨ³ Ω ΩΨ§Ω ΩΩΨ§Ψ―ΨͺΩ Ω ΩΩΩΩ Ψ§ΩΩ ΩΨ§Ω Ψ§ΩΨ°Ω ΨͺΩΨͺΩΩ ΩΩΩ ΩΩ Ω ΨΨ§ΩΩΨ§ΨͺΩ ΩΩΩΨ±ΩΨ¨β (Home is not where you were born, home is where all your attempts to escape cease.) Luminara
Merit prices aren't intended to mimic player-set inf* prices on the AH, they're reflective of arc/*F/Trial/GM rewards and average earning potential.Β Nor could merit pricesΒ everΒ be changed to match pricing on the AH because that pricing is set by players and subject to high volatility.Β Merit pricing is a control on the market, not a reflection of market values, and the costs were specifically set to ensure that players can't create inflationary spirals. Β ATO pricing on the AH is a sum of the cost of purchasing Hero/Villain packs, the expected of salability and whatever profit the lister hopes to generate, not merit prices. Β Winter enhancements follow the same pricing structure, but Winter packs are 2.5x the cost, so players list the enhancements for accordingly higher prices. Β Of particular importance, lowering merit prices on ATOs would reduce the amount of inf* destroyed by encouraging players to purchase ATOs with merits instead of on the AH, further reduce the amount of inf* destroyed by removing the market fees from the purchasing equation.Β The less inf* removed from the economy, the greater the chance for inflationary effects to take hold.Β If for no other reason, the developers aren't going to do it because of that. Β Merit costs are what they are for reasons, and AH costs are what they are for other reasons, and while there are indirect links between them, they're not directly comparable.Β Nor should they be.Β Pricing on the AH being generally lower than merit costs is indicative of a healthy economy, not a problem. 2 1 1 Get busy living... or get busy dying.Β That's goddamn right. tidge
The one change I'd like to see for Merit Vendors: to be able to buy recipes for sets that a character has out-leveled (at the highest level).
