Elec/Regen Build?

Sooo...ive been away for quite some time and I understand Sentinels have had another (small?) pass from the devs?  Maybe I am mistaken but if anyone out there has some build advice for sents that isn't over 3 years old, id appreciate it!

Some things that I do need to have though:  Fly, all of the elec powers if possible (though I can remove short circuit I guess but why do people skip lightning bolt?  I love that power), all the Regen powers...that's pretty much it for the must haves.  Anything else for the build that would make it better would of course be wanted.  I am looking I think for a mix of Def and Res but will lean more towards Res I think.

I primarily solo, but will team up with people if/when necessary.  I am only lvl 35 as of this writing but im looking towards endgame and just dont trust myself with all the IO's and what they synergy with.

P.S.  I am relatively poor but can afford some IO sets but trying to play the ol AH never seems to go well for me. 😞

I don't really have a build.  Just some random IO's in places and slots in powers in which I have no idea if there should be slots in those powers.

So, to be fair, I was following this build from Oldskool but I feel it could be dated.  Is there anything I should change out/remove?  He did mention it isnt very optimized but it might be okay for a beginning build to build onto.  Just want to have some thoughts.

He made mention he would do another build later on but to my knowledge he hasn't.  I am sure he just got sidetracked and forgot all about it, don't really blame him. 🙂

No, as far as cheap builds go, that will suit you pretty well, as long as you intend to hoverblast. You're only capped on Ranged defense.

 

It's definitely missing frills that will make your life easier. It's missing Hasten, which Regen desperately wants. The Voltaic Sentinel is missing, and he does a good chunk of damage. There are plenty of places to put some LotG recharges. Making room for these things would require scrapping the build and starting from scratch. I'd worry about that when you have the funds to make your final build.

Yeah, I noticed it was missing the little sparky guy and I do LOVE him on my build right now.  I do not want to get rid of him.  I figured that I would have to scrap it to be honest and would appreciate a much more updated build.  I have some funds but not in the billions of course...i think I have about 180 mill which of course in this game is still "poor".

In order to give you some help I put together a Regeneration template. This is entirely my opinion but I believe this template maximizes most of the benefits of Regen for Sent's. 

 

In general what Regen is giving is good baseline resistances with Resilience. You can and should beef this up with Tough for better s/l res. Take advantage of the max hp boosts which work together with the +regen to give you more hp/s. Max out Instant Regen for the absorb to cover you. In a contrary opinion, the only things you need recharge for is Reconstruction and Moment of Glory, Second Wind is easily perma-able if getting close to perma Hasten - even without slotted recharge. Reconstruction is slightly less important for Sent's with Instant Regen.

 

It's a good idea is to have some slight bump to defense to help stagger incoming attacks. A breakdown of what you're working with:

  • Fast Healing - Slot this to max out the regen.
  • Quick Recovery - 1-2 slots for Performance Shifter and endmod. This thing covers almost all your end needs.
  • Instant Regen - Max out for the absorb.
  • Dismiss Pain - Max out the +hp.
  • Integration - Max out the regen.
  • Resilience - Max out the res.
  • Second Wind - Can save some slots and just add a +heal.
  • Reconstruction - Slot for heal and recharge.
  • Moment of Glory - An "oh crap" button. I just use it as a LotG mule. You can add recharge to have it up more often.

This template assumes that you're going for some level of perma Hasten. You should try to get close on a Sentinel due to the fastest recharging nukes. It maximizes each of the Regen powers to their full potential. Has Tough to max s/l. It includes just about every "unique" enhancement you should need - regen/hp/defense/res/rec. You can switch out Combat Jumping for your choice Hover/Stealth etc. Can switch the Reactive Armor sets for a different set bonus. Second Wind should bring you to Sentinel hp cap or thereabouts.

 

You can of course reduce the slotting if you don't want the full bonuses or need slots for attacks. Then frankenslot what you might need. This is mainly meant as a guide to visually show how to go about maxing Regen. Otherwise just fill in your attacks etc!

Don't skip Short Circuit. While the damage isn't great, it's a potent tool for draining endurance and stopping endurance recovery. Combined with your other attacks, you can literally incapacitate an entire spawn (including bosses). I have it 6-slotted with Synapse's Shock.

So after coming into a bit of Influence through luck, playing the game and some VERY nice people...I think I have enough to REALLY make a good build...so if anyone has a good elec/regen build that has no limit on inf spent...please share.

Some caveats though:

1. Hover and Fly will be taken.
2. Can skip Second Wind but if necessary can take it.
3. I would LIKE to take all elec powers (except first) and I really want Tesla Cage.
4. Hasten is available.  Any other Pool power is up for grabs except Psion Mastery (doesnt fit the theme).

 

Hopefully someone can work with this and get me an awesome build.  😄

Well, its not elec but I do have a Rad/Regen too!  I can certainly use it for him and he was my next one to get kitted out. 😄

If you have the endurance (and you should) you can skip hover unless you want it for muling LOTG.  I run fly or mystic fly on almost all my characters and never turn it off.

I would rather keep it due to the fact I do use it inside missions and fly can be a bit too fast in cramped quarters while hover offers more control. 🙂

So, here is a build I got and made some modifications too but....I really want to have Tesla Cages in there and have a set in there...but I dont know where I can pull slots from and still keep the build where it is.  If anyone has suggestions as to what powers I may be able to remove slots from and still come out with a great build please let me know!

What I would suggest for freeing up slots would be to give up some of your defensive set bonuses, because Regen doesn't have any native defense and has zero DDR, which means trying to build for defense is very costly and can be deleted by any NPC with a defense debuff. 

 

Specifically, here are the trimmings I would make:

1. Drop the acc/dam piece from Opportunity Strikes (Lightning Bolt), making this a 5-slotted power instead of 6. 

2. Drop Charge Up to just 3 slots, not just because of the defense thing but also because you don't need the extra recovery and the damage set bonus is too tiny to be noticed in gameplay. 

3. You might also opt to remove the EndMod pieces from Stamina and/or Quick Recovery, because your recovery is going to be pretty good anyways. 

 

That would let you fully slot out Tesla Cage and then some (probably add another LOTG and finish slotting out Thunderous Blast). 

 

Also related to defense, I don't think the Reactive Armor is helping much for the same reason. I'd replace them with 4-slotted Titanium Coating for slightly higher resist bonuses. 

 

Another note is that you've hit the max set bonus count for the 1.87% HP bonus, meaning that one of those bonuses is wasted. This is mostly coming from all of the Preventative Medicines spammed throughout the build, so maybe replace one of the 3-slotted groups of that with a different set (probably just Doctored Wounds because Numina's will still hit the set bonus limit and Panacea's low tier bonuses don't help much here).

Hmm, im not seeing where I can add another LOTG anywhere, and what would you recommend slotting Thunderous Blast with?  I'm thinking Thunderstrike but maybe something else would be better?

As for Thunderous Blast, you could maybe 3-slot Annihilation for a bit of extra energy/negative resistance, or load it up with damage procs. 

I realized what I did...i should take off the one slot from VS and add that slot to Maneuvers while slotting a 5 slot Thunderstrike into VS.

 

How does this look?
