elfeanor Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) Hi everybody I just reached lvl 50 and i really need help doing a good or better build. This is my build as it is now and i need to improve it. Before helping me (if you are kind enough) , these are importants points : i would like to keep granite power (if you have a way to avoid -rech and -dam without destroying the buiild, don't hesitate) cause it is very useful sometimes --> i thought of using LOG IO's + Cross Punch + Inventions IO (-rech) problem 1 : very long time to kill big mobs (Elite Boss, AV, etc) but i guess it's because of spines choice problem 2 : i am often out of endurance (perhap's shoud i change of epic powers of using incarnates) This is my newbie build I didin't manage to do a better share from Mid Thanks in advance Elfeanor MrPierre2 - Tanker (Stone Armor - Spines).mbd Edited March 11 by elfeanor
SeraphimKensai Posted March 11 Posted March 11 At work so I can't see your build Stone armor is in a place now where you can build it so its so strong the only reason to take granite is for nostalgia. Granite though has a huge -damage and -recharge debuff on you which you're not going to overcome short of having a pocket kin following you around with speed boost and fulcrum shift. Spines itself is a cheese grater. It's great for pairing with mud pots/quills and killing all the trash around you. EBs and AVs you'll need to use your single target attacks and buildup to get decent damage, but also envenomed daggers to help break an AV's regen. Fighting them while in granite, you're not soloing them, although you can absolutely hold their agro for others to DPS them. If you want to solo AVs you'll need to be able to survive them without granite on.
elfeanor Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Hi SeraphimKensai and thanks for your reply. I agree with you. Anyway granite is only one power and can slot it with 4 io to reach cap i guess. I am open to any suggestion and almost for a build 🙂
Sovera Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I have a Stone framework you can adapt to Spines. I looked at Spines but could not see the point when Fire Melee does same or better Aoe and also ST. - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.

The unique thing about spines was always the range and extra damage toggle, but given on a tank the -100% range on taunt will make the range of impale/throw spines pointless. I think it works better for scrappers/brutes (not using taunt because of that)

I agree with you and i had looked at your post several time but...i began my Stone/Spines tank long time ago and i finally reach lvl 50 today. It is my unique "real" character lvl 50 (the other is a Spines/Fire Brute only done for AE afk fire farm) so i don't want to say "ok spines is just a crap thing, i will do something else"

I tried to just change Fire Melee --> Spines in Mid's but loose a lot of Status Protection and Debuff Resistance. I think that Evasive Maneuvers will disapear if attacked, if attacking or click mission. I personnaly prefer Stealth + Grant invisibility for the LOTG. If you are kind enough to help adapting it would be nice.

Throw in your build with the powers you want and I can try to tetris the bonuses back in. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
elfeanor Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 I tried this one. Tanker Modified (Stone Armor - Fire Melee) Final build.mbd
elfeanor Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 With this i change the Fly powers : i prefere it Tanker Modified (Stone Armor - Spines) Final build.mbd
Sovera Posted March 11 Posted March 11 It looks nearly perfect. You have 45%+ to defense and 70% to all resistances. You can take the Unbreakable from Earth's Embrace since you're already hard capped without it. The only problem is accuracy. You went too deep into proc monstering and Ripper, for example, has zero accuracy added so it has 48% to hit a +3 enemy. Even with Focused Accuracy toggled on it only has 63%. Switching some slotting around and adding a Kismet allows to not toggle on Focused Accuracy or it would be a bit too heavy for your blue bar (it's there for emergencies only, either +def mobs or ToHit debuffing mobs). The -recharge proc in Ripper is of no use so I replaced it and it improved damage as well as finishing pushing it to the accuracy needs. Quills is a toggle and not a good place to place damage procs. With all those damage procs you've increased its damage from 11 damage to 22 damage. It's a place to put things for their set bonuses. Changing to a slotting with accuracy to actually hit, damage, and endurance, lowered the damage to 18. You have no travel power and took Grant Invisibility. Wouldn't it make more sense to take Infiltration instead for mobility? It also grants stealth, but remember to toggle Stealth back while in combat to get the bonus to defense. Remember that Granite toggles all your other toggles off. So no recovery from Crystal Armor, no recharge from Minerals, and no damage from Brimstone. Honestly, not a lot of reason to use it since even the DDR gain is minimal. Keep a few medium oranges on hand and you'll be at res cap anyway. Anyway, here are some more slotting ideas, just pick what seems to fit your playstyle. Tanker Modified (Stone Armor - Spines) Final build.mbd - Simple guide for newcomers. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
elfeanor Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 (edited) Thanks a lot Sovera to have upgraded the build. I didn't have realized that was also an def type power so being able to be sloted with LOTG Edited March 12 by elfeanor 1
elfeanor Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 I guess i will try to place taunt cause, as i was said, in a team with stronger characters (i did for the first time Tipex today) i must have taunt in order to...taunt big mobs even if i have ridculous damage.
Sovera Posted March 12 Posted March 12 It can be useful. I haven't found it to be unless pulling two groups at once. Anything strong enough to rip agro is strong enough to survive it. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
elfeanor Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Finally this is the build i choose : I replace infiltration by taunt, loosing a place for LOTG (not so awful i guess) I unslot gladiator endu/resistso I can add LOTG Def to granite. I replace Kick instead of Boxing cause i prefer it I take Mystic Fly instead of combat teleport --> if i have mystic fly on then use granite, i can't fly but i still can use Translocation with Granite. This is the build without granite and with granite Tanker_MrPierre_Stone_Armor_-_Spines.mbd
Sovera Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Heck, seems good to me. Respecs are cheap anyway so you'll end up tinkering with the build as you keep on playing and see what works for you and what does not.
