WindDemon21 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Has been annoying for a while, the train and sg portal are at the far north side of the zone, so any time you have to go to the south end to talk to gordon, who takes forever to give you his cell, or get those badges down there, or give the goo to sheridan, or if you want to get to that entry part near creys. It would make sense for the sg base portal to be down there instead, but if for some reason that doesn't want to be done there is an open portal slot that could be put down there too (though base portal being down there near the hospital makes the most sense since the train is already up in the north end.
tidge Posted December 12 Posted December 12 The locations of the SG portals were already changed once by the Homecoming team; I want to say that the SG portal in Brickstown used to be near Steven Sheridan, but I could be misremembering. There are a few portal locations that I think are in more convenient spots, a few that I think are in less convenient spots, and a few I have no opinion either way. I agree that having so many of the Paragon City SG portals near train stations seems a little like overkill to me. 1

That might have been (though that's still the better option), why I mentioned putting at least the portal there then if the base one isn't touched. Maybe even out an pro pop-out down there. What this team needs is more Defenders
macskull Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Yeah, most of the SG-base-related travel changes were pretty nice and having you come out in every zone at the portal location makes sense but there are a few zones where that change made things more clunky: Getting to the eastern end of Eden for the badges there used to be super fast because the Founders' Falls teleporter dumped you out right by the Eden gate. Now it dumps you in the plaza, and the Eden teleporter puts you by Woodsman so either way you've got to hoof it across an entire zone to get to your destination. I brought up that it didn't make much sense to put the SG portal in its current location in Eden because you can already get to that exact location with a quick LFG teleport, but apparently using LFG as fast travel "isn't the intention" so here we are. I used to level new alts in the Brickstown AE because it was out of the way and the base teleporter used to drop you relatively close to the AE building there (and was closer to the middle of the zone instead of a corner like it is now). 1 1 "If you can read this, I've failed as a developer." -- Caretaker Proc information and chance calculator spreadsheet (last updated 15APR24) Player numbers graph (updated every 15 minutes) Graph readme @macskull/@Not Mac | Twitch | Youtube

Yep, some are just odd, esp Bricks, hence the post lol. IF the sg portal has to stay there if at least the other portal that is usually by the train could be out that way but it still makes sense if instead the base portal was down that way. Or even an oro popout, or both. Would be nice/fun having one at the very top of the prison where that badge is.

Brickstown isn't that bad (as far as distances between gates/portal/train and missions/contacts, but somebody dropped this huge thing in the middle of the zone. For Paragon City zones, I think Talos Island is regularly "the worst". With the exception of the one door near the Dark Astoria gate, there is no quick option for any door along the war walls or on the northern islands. The Ouro drop point, SG base and Tunnel are all within sniper distance of the Train station, and the dance zones exits are pretty close by as well. I'm tempted to say "Independence Port" because of its sheer size, but at least it has the Smuggler's Submarine in the north and a train station/Brickstown gate in the south.
