Story Archer Posted Friday at 01:44 AM Posted Friday at 01:44 AM I've tried a couple of different versions of DP - I've got a great concept and a costume I really want to use - but each one has felt underwhelming. Is there an AT or power combination synergy that I'm overlooking? What have been your best experiences with Dual Pistols? Blaster, Corrupter, Defender or Sentinel?
FupDup Posted Friday at 01:59 AM Posted Friday at 01:59 AM (edited) DP as a whole is underwhelming. Blaster could be considered the "best" here not because of its own stats but because they can lean on their "secondary" set (preferably an ST-focused one like Nin or Elec) and basically ignore the majority of DP (the best way to play DP is to not play it). Defenders are an alternate option because their higher support modifiers make the non-fire ammo types a little more useful. Edited Friday at 02:00 AM by FupDup .

I figured Defenders might be the way to go, since - of the AT's that use DP - they're the only ones not expected to add a great deal to direct damage. I made up for it somewhat by leaning into damage procs pretty heavily. Maybe this is the excuse I need to finally get into Time Manipulation.
Carnifax Posted Friday at 07:52 AM Posted Friday at 07:52 AM My Dual Pistols / Kin is a beast of a character. Is it Fire / Kin? No, nothing is (other than Fire/Kin) but my DP/Kin tears thru ITFs very happily. Genuinely one of the best characters I have, and mine isn't particularly a Proc monster. 3 My level 50 builds [Bullitt Time : DP/Kin Corruptor] [Carnifax : Ill/Dark Controller] [Kerriae : Plant/Storm Controller] [Echinoderm : Bio/Spines Tank] [Iron Brew : Mace/Rad Brute] [Snookered : Staff/NRG Brute] [iScream : Ice/Ice Scrapper] [Binman : Savage/Shield Stalker] [Modul-8 : Time/Sonic Defender] [Concussion Blast : Fire/NRG Domi] [Orblivion : Dark/Martial Domi] [Mombie : Necro/Nature MM] [Tempore : Water/Time Blaster] [Thermodynamic Flux : Ice/Fire Blaster] [Carni's Online CombatLog Parser Alpha]
Skyhawke Posted Friday at 12:41 PM Posted Friday at 12:41 PM I've got two Blasters, two Sentinels and a Defender that use Dual Pistols. Love em all. Haven't tried a Corrupter...yet. DP isn't going to be the best dps on the team if you've got like a Fire Blaster or something. However, you are absolutely going to look the coolest doing what you do and you do a damned good job to boot. For my money, I've enjoyed all, but my DP/Invul Sentinel was fun leveling and now in the endgame stuff just a beast. Plus, Invul on Sentinels get some really good toys. 1 Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior

I have 3 DP blasters and they all are beasts. I disagree with @FupDup in that DP shines best with a secondary that has strong AOEs vs leaning heavily on STs. My DP/Mental is a PBAOE Juggernaut that is built to stand in the middle of +4 mobs and level them quickly. My DP/Sonic is near the same and I even took Fold Space to bring more foes to me! (I would do this with my /Mental but it doesn't fit the concept.) My DP/Nin is perfect blend of AOE and hard ST attacks that easily destroys mobs. DP/Fire and DP/Martial would also be good combos and I will try them eventually too. To me, it's a fun set. But if you're a min/max'er and you're not enjoying it, then perhaps DP isn't for you. But it can be quite viable and fun. 1

Lean on procs for damage but, yeah, you're not going to be a huge damage beast with DP regardless. DP and Time both like to be in the middle of melee (well, DP's nuke does anyway) and though I usually run with fire ammo for more damage the debuffs from cold or toxic ammo are significant on a defender and are worth using in some situations. Defender buff values combined with Time's -ACC aura make a melee Time/DP 'fender pretty durable.
Xandyr Posted Friday at 06:38 PM Posted Friday at 06:38 PM I don't know about the "best:", but my DP/Martial blaster is sooo freakin' fun to play. Also have a Dark/DP Defender that is really good as well. 1 What you wanted to know about Bio, but never asked - Tanker - Homecoming (homecomingservers.com)
