Force Redux
So, I am back to leveling a bubbler, a power set I still love, even after playing with a /Cold MM and a Ninjutsu Sentinel, I went back because I still enjoy not always minding my pets, as well as being able to bring some helpful stuff to the team, while also having some ability to solo through my missions. I would love a review, make sure I'm on track with my plan. Currently I'm level 25 as a Force Field/Sonic. My build is outlined below. The goals are: 1. Build up +Defense (particularly range) to soft cap, and then push as close to iCap as possible (so far getting about 54% range defense on the build below). 2. Balance personal damage with ability to cycle attacks and maintain the blue bar. 3. Maintain some team friendly tricks - like recall friend for teams/lowbie help, and aid other. I'd love to fit Stealth in there, but alas...however, i can flub a run through a map with minimal aggro in PFF. I could always swap a +Stealth enhancer into Hover to reduce aggro going through a map to later TP friend to the goals, but I also think that -recharge defense would be helpful. Perks of the build that make me happy: 1. PFF - can always bubble up and heal or endure what could be a wipe or just some focused fire until things get under control. On teams without a proper tank, I can always Leeroy Jenkins into a crowed to take the alpha. 2. Status protection - don't want to wait until Clarion, and I'd like to use my Destiny for something else. Its also nice to give this to others, particularly pets and so forth. my Lore pets will benefit from this. 3. Energy Drain and Toxic resistance. Nice to bring to the table. I hate Malta. 4. Normally bubblers don't have anything to hasten mob death, but plenty of -RES from Sonic, which is a very strong ST set. So I feel I've got a decent balance for Buffs/Debuffs, even if its fairly narrow. 5. FF adds a bit more AoE damage with repulsion bomb, helping out with Sonic's ST focus. 6. Electricity offers resists, some slots for more +DEF global, and a decent damage AOE immob for control and more AOE damage. I think the build is pretty good, but I am always surprised by the input I get to improve builds, and would love a good lookover. Force Redux
Well, got this up to 39 so far, took Mace Mastery as well, and the build has had a couple tweaks, involving removing Siren Song and substituting Shockwave in for double cone action. Debuffs and knockdowns helps both teams and me (when solo). Can definitely feel the difference in time to kill vs other Defender secondaries I've used in the past. AV kills go much quicker. Added in some IO sets and procs, and with Scorpion Shield, I'm near close to cap on S/L/E and Range. Will be overcapped when done, plus capped AoE. Definitely a safe yet effective build. Sonic definitely helps FF shine, of course. But I still like what FF brings to the table. Between the buffs (FF) and Debuffs (Sonic) and some KD CC I feel useful in almost all situations and love the character. I can post a build if anyone is interested. @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
Guffnat
I really like the build. I would trade Teleport Friend for Screech and borrow the needed slots from Amplify, which I think is pretty solid with the Chance for Build Up Proc alone. But that is just personal preference since I mainly play controllers. back in the days: Zukunft (EU) ... nowadays: Everlasting

Force Redux
So, after all the feedback I've had on two threads, plus some leveling experience up to 45th, as well as test time on Justin, I came up with my end-game build. I'm most of the way there with IO sets. I have attuned sets in everything except my LotG and Fortunata's Hypnosis sets, which I have to save up for. Everything else, I've funded with sales of orange salvage, various recipes, selling enhancement converters (from merits) and Summer Blockbuster runs. This is with double xp turned on, so I'm not earning infamy through leveling/kills. I also have no other alts farming to fund me. I want others starting off to know that its possible to IO up in a reasonable manner, if you do a bit of work, and it doesn't even take playing the market. I'm currently level 45, and I have almost all the powers of note. Some thoughts on power selections: 1. Screech, while seemingly handy on paper, was actually not so beneficial for me. On teams, there's little reason to worry about a particular Lt. Everything either goes down quickly enough. Solo, I spec'd back into Siren Song, which takes care of Lts AND Minions, and leaves the boss for me to kill first, if I'm concerned about managing various Malta or whatever. Plus, Siren Song lasts so much longer, I can dedicate more time to attacks. 2. Shockwave and Howl paired together are beasts and sync well together in rotation. The KD and FF proc into Shockwave are awesome, and I supposed the -Res proc in Howl also helps with debuffing. I havent parsed it, just an assumption. Its not like I really notice it much, but I did want a full set bonus from Annhilation. 3. I did not take Dreadful Wail. Several reasons. It's PBAO and I typically operate at range with cones. I hate darting in and out of combat. And I'm aiming for respectable DPS, but I'm not attempting to try to be a blaster. I'll have Ionic Judgement for when I need to unleash the beast. I'm sure there are great /Sonic builds that may use it, but its not for my playstyle. 4. I respecced out of Repulsion Bomb. I loved it on my MM. But my MM did not have their own attacks, and needed something to do while the Bots killed things. On my Defender, I have plenty to do that doesn't include a 3.0 second wind up time, in which team mates invariably KB everything to hell, or mobs run out of position. And I have my two cones to debuff and KD stuff with anyway. So no Repulsion Bomb, no matter how much I like the animation. 5. Field Medic. I love it. It takes an otherwise crappy pool and makes it feasible. I still find myself spot healing folks with it, and being able to zoom over and not wait to come to a rest is great. Yes, I wish it also worked on Aid Self, but I've learned to quickly toggle on PFF, heal myself in peace, then get back into the action. Much more reliable that way. 6. Summon Disruptor. I recalled way back that someone had mentioned pets did very well for Defenders, because it gives Defenders something to buff and adds to damage and also relieves some aggro. I will be able to get this thing on perma once I get everything squared away. Even without Hasten, it will only be on a 10 second cooldown by the time I'm done. I like pets. I like pets I don't have to micromanage. I like cool-looking pets. I named mine Black Signal. We are now best friends. I have no idea why I never did this before on a Defender. 7. Hasten. I added it in for when I get debuffed and I need to counter the -recharge, or I simply need to get into overdrive to help burn down things with the team. I am happy to have it. I'm even happier to recolor it to match my aura! (it also works nicely with the Force Feedback recharge proc). This is, in every way, better than my well-liked Dark/Ninjutsu Sentinel or my beloved and venerable FF/Bots MM. It has ranged attacks. It has status protection. It has great defenses. It can heal. It can buff. It can debuff. It has a pet. It has some soft controls (immob and sleep, as well as copious KB). It feels heroic, particularly when I can lay down the -Res and start to melt mobs. Particularly in single-target mode. I feel valuable on teams. if they need my bubbles and status protection, they have it. If they need Drain resistance, I have that too. If they want to hurt things, I'll help them hurt them faster. I'll manage your adds. I'll keep things knocked on their rear ends. Now I'm looking forward to my Incarnates. I'm built (below) with Alpha: Agility because it speaks to everything I need to do. Beyond that, I'm looking at possibly: Judgement: Ionic. Lore: not sure. Possibly something robotic or arachnos. For theme. Lore pets are always for theme for me. Interface: Reactive or Degenerative. Not sure. I heard the damage was nerfed, so we're looking at the other benefits? Destiny: Ageless. More END (though I rarely run out as it is, can you ever really ahve enough?), more recharge and Debuff Resistance (yes!) are all great. Hybrid: Support. More Def. End Discount. Damage buff. Status effect buff. Sure. I can use all of those. Let's make White-Noise even more ridiculous. Comments, suggestions or feedback all welcome! Its no farmer. Its not a tank. Its not a blaster. But its my favorite build of all time, from Beta to now. And I appreciate the feedback that got me there. Hyperstrike
Looks mostly OK. I'm just NOT a huge fan of leaving F/C uncapped. Especially on a Forcefielder. It's kinda like suiting up to tend goal in the Thug Leagues in hockey....and forgetting to wear a cup... If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK! Force Redux
Hyperstrike - how would you end up capping those? On my current built, with Agility Core (and we can turn on Hybrid Support Radial, too), I'd sit at (rounding for clean numbers): Smashing/Lethal 70% Energy: 67% Negative 50% Fire: 36% Cold: 36% Psi 34% Ranged 54% Melee 34% AoE 38% Normally on teams I get a bit more defense from other support types. Especially on trials. Because its not just me, its about the team. In regular play, unless I'm on a Fire Farm, I don't really see an issue with Fire. And Cold is just a very rare damage type in general. For Fire and Cold, most of the ranged stuff I can avoid, but the AoE, yeah, its a bit lower than I'd like. I don't **think** its possible to get everything in one build, but I'm open to hear suggestions? @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds

Force Redux
No Repulsion Field??? Do you just keep Force Bubble on at all times, or what? Heresy, perhaps, but I find Repulsion to be too taxing on End for what it does. I prefer tactical application of force bubble. I don't keep it on at all times. But I'm open to having my mind changed. I'd only take one or the other though. @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
_NOPE_
The endurance cost of Repulsion Field is really NOT that much, to be honest, it's pretty much on par with Force Bubble, and it's MUCH more tactical, since the "tohit bubble" is INFINITELY smaller. Add to that the fact that when enemies are either knocked down or knocked back, they are NOT firing on you.... which doesn't happen with Force Bubble, they still can use their ranged attacks while they're being pushed away. Now, that being said, on my personal journey playing FF 100% SOLO from 1-50 (NO teaming whatsoever), I've actually found it much more useful to have Force Bubble most of the time, and keep all minions at distance, so I pretty much have it always on now, and deal with the bosses in a more expedient manner. But then again, I ALSO usually have BOTH Force Bubble AND Repulsion Field on when facing Elite Bosses/AVs, because the KB/KD hits appear to "stack" and push past their resistance more often than not. So, of course I'd be a proponent of both, just to have both. But hey, it's your build. 1 I'm out.
Force Redux
I think I'd go one or the other. I use only one build at this time, so it has to be good for both teaming and solo. I don't have room for an extra power. Does Repulsion take the KD proc from either Sudden Acceleration or Overwhelming Force? @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
_NOPE_
YES. I have Sudden Acceleration KB/KD proc slotted into RF right now. It's glorious for keeping the baddies next to me for Short Circuit pulses. If I was to start teaming? I'd immediately unslot it though. Yes, I realize that's backwards from they way "most people" would do things... but I think VERY tactically and always use my knockback CAREFULLY and strategically. 1 I'm out. Thanks to all those who have provided feedback, the build is much stronger as a result. 🙂 Thoughts: Definitely feels like a Sonic/SR Sentinel but with team buffs added: Strong defense, mezz protection, ranged attacks. Turn on toggles, go blast away, apply Shields to buddies if teamed. I'm happy with my current ST attack chain of: Shriek, Scream, Shriek, Shout. Pretty seamless. Damage is solid. My two AoE cones, Howl and Shockwave do well on teams. Even better when they are immobilized, usually with my Web Cocoon. Damage is 'meh' but the KD and debuffs are useful. ((AoEs became more acceptable once I added Dreadful Wail and Ion Judgement)) Got rid of Summon Disruptor. Found it less than useful, and I prefer pets I can control. Plus I often didn't want it to linger and grab aggro when solo if I was speeding through mission points, so I often didn't summon it as often as I'd have liked. Replaced it with Dreadful Wail. It's up every 30+ seconds with Hasten, globals and Agility Alpha, and is VERY useful for when cones no longer capture those mobs who get too close or are diffused in a team environment. Cone, cone, cone...too close...Wail. Dead. Also a great opener to stun and debuff for teams. The build is very tough, I often lead in if we're moving along at a good place. Absorb proc, resist IO, scaling resist IO add to survivability nicely. No END issues. Sappers usually miss as well. Replaced Force Bubble with Repulsion Field (with the recommended KD proc) and it's much more useful. Reduces incoming melee attacks frequently, and I can use it to protect Squishies by parking myself next to them. I will post a Pine's build later if anyone is interested. Again, ty for the help. FF is my favorite set! I'll post today in a new thread, to avoid having the old builds mixed in with the final build. 1 @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds

Not any more, PK, I traded it out for Repulsion Field, which I DO keep on at all times! Much more helpful, overall, than FB. Appreciate the nudge. 1 @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
_NOPE_
Honestly, I think Repulsion Field is the best power in the set, TBH. You can do so much with it! You can use it either offensive or defensively... actively, or passively. It's just... amazing. 1 I'm out.
