WanderingAries Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) The Aries Intel Rig is finally morphing into an AM5 Rig. Hoping everything goes fine or I'll have to order some thermal paste (or new sheets) as the sheets are 1x use. Glacier Peak Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Wonder if the CPU will result in more performance in CoH. Isn't the game reliant on single core performance and memory speeds? IDK, but last I heard, once the world of threads came to be, the game started splitting pieces to different cores/threads, so it should see some help, but no more than a quad core most likely. TBH though, I'm all but done with gaming on PC. This build will still let me do what I want for a very long time though. The current one is 15 years old and is only being upgraded due to stupid compatibility restrictions preventing Win11 from updating on it. Since I need that to keep Office 365 current, I was forced into it either way. 1 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! WanderingAries Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 The transition: Just noticed the RAM clock speed...not sure that's right as it's half what I 'think' it should be if it's DDR-6000. 1 OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica! Glacier Peak Posted May 5 Posted May 5 That TDP increase of only 100 watts for the huge boost to the CPU's turbo max and x4 cores/threads is awesome. I'm still getting by with my 8700k, but I've been holding out for a GPU that's affordable and makes substantial improvements over my 1080. Between 1-3 F when not idle and it's idling 50~60 C for some reason. I had to adjust my thermal alarm to 90C because 80C wasn't sufficient when I gave it something to do. >.< OG Server: Pinnacle <||> Current Primary Server: Torchbearer || Also found on the others if desired <||> Generally Inactive Installing CoX: Windows || MacOS || MacOS for M1 <||> Migrating Data from an Older Installation Clubs: Mid's Hero Designer || PC Builders || HC Wiki || Jerk Hackers Old Forums <||> Titan Network <||> Heroica!
