Sapper Defender?

Hey guys! I want to run an elec affinity build, and I also want to run a sapper build soon (apparently the devs are looking into sapping changes?). So I was thinking why not combine the two, right? Anyone have experience running an elec/elec defender and how it stacks up against the elec³ build that sentinel sappers can run?

I ran an Elec/Elec defender.  I actually got him to 50 pretty quickly because he was a lot of fun.  Electric Affinity doesn’t do a whole lot for sapping, it’s just Shock (ST) and Galvanic Sentinel (AoE, but low numbers). So the majority of your sapping comes from Short Circuit still.

 

however, a nice synergy between the two sets is once you take Tesla Cage, you’re electric blast attacks grant stacks of Static.

 

EA is fun, but it’s a very busy set.

I would not recommend Elec Affinity for sapping. That said if you want to play Elec Affinity it's a great buff set, I like to pair it on an MM to keep all the pets alive and well buffed.

 

If you want a sapper...an elec^3 sentinel or an elec/psi domi are really good in that regard.

Honestly, do a Marine/Electric Blast.  I have one with 50 vet levels, and I predominately solo.  Properly slotted, Short Circuit followed by Ball Lightning will drain them.   You can drop tidal pool without getting Agro, then use White Cap to drop in, most enemies will be tossed in the air, shock then ball lighting.  Most everything is drained.  Pick off at your leisure with your attacks as they move slowly in the tidal pool.  Charge up and Thunderous Blast will also drain most things of end (and health).

the PbAoE aura in elec controls means you are not spending your life trying to keep endurance reduced on enemies

 

i like elec/earth and elec/ice doms for powerboost, makes it even more effective

My first dom that I  played with any success was Elec control/electric blast? It was fast but it was fun sapping things like Eochai.
