In-game places that you wish would have names

Point out some in-game places that you wished had specific names. 

 

I'll lead off by suggesting the 3 warehouse locations in Skyway where the Supertroll rave events occur should have names, especially the one where Babbage also shows up. While from an RP standpoint, it might be nice to have signs on the buildings giving a company name, I'd be fine with chat identifying them with something as bland as Troll Rave East, Troll Rave South, and Troll Rave West.   Rather than wait for another player to fumble around with the location system, just announce Babbage as near Troll Rave East, or TR East.   Thought about this tonight when a player announced Babbage as "near the South tram station" when it was really next to "Troll Rave East".  (Someone eventually put up the coordinates, but not before a handful of people had been milling around the station searching for Babbage in traditional locations.

 

In addition, the warehouse Babbage often appears at near the bend in the war wall could probably benefit from a name as well.

I sort of love this idea.  With a billboard or a name on a bldg.  

 

But i also realize a couple things. First, even if the spot had a name AND a marker on the map like a neighborhood marker, you will still need to post coordinates to be polite to new players.  
 

Second, every veteran thinks of these locations in different ways.  I never thought of them as troll east/south/west.  It is similar to the way we all know our cities.  People that use the train think of the city one way.  People that use different transportation think of the layout differently.  Our experience molds our map of the city.

I think the same barrier to this naming idea being useful is the same barrier to $loc being useful. A newer/inexperienced player isn't going to know either of these things. 

So, specifically with regards to troll raves, it could be against common sense story-wise, but the trolls could just have the rave at the same spot every time. Eventually, folks will know where this is. Anecdotally, it seems as if you believe the rave occurs at three distinct locations in Skyway. I just assumed they were random areas, though they often look like the same building, just in a different part of the city. 

As for Babbage, he doesn't spawn at only one point; he'll spawn in at least two, probably more. So, I'm not sure there's a way to mark "where Babbage spawns", unless our HC dev team decide to 1) have that specific mission not be so close to the train, and 2) have it be in the same spot so Babbage can spawn at that same spot.

There needs to be a few Gecko Insurance buildings around...and the only gas station I've seen is in the Lamba Sector of the Neutropolis slums...yet...cars are all over the place. (Probably why most are parked...outta gas or electrical charges. lol ) 

 

A few museums would be cool; Atlas could have the history one over near the Hollows gate; Steel could have a Science & Tech place; and Brick could have one dedicated to Crime & Crime fighting. :)

Streets in Perez:  Hellion Court & Bones Boulevard.

Independence Port: Luca's Loop, Power Island Crossing...and so forth.

I just wish more of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles were less of a Potemkin Village and had more places with cool interiors.  I know that's quite demanding, but I'd still like it.

It's been quite a while but I could swear that a few of them actually had names, though possibly only mentioned in the contact mission stories.   Some streets would seem to be obvious, like the Croatoa street running between the tram station and the university.  I tend to thing of that as Salamanca's Main Street.

Having map markers for the Troll Rave locations would be nice, and/or some graffiti on the pavement that could be seen from the air.

You haven't earned the zone exploration accolade for Kallisti Wharf on any of your characters, then, I see. Or figured out how to get outside Pocket D and fly around to some of the interesting things you can find there... like a gas station, two Rikti motherships, and a TARDIS.

Not been to Kallisti in over a year...long before it was populated with anything and was more interested in just seeing what the place was like than close inspection. Pocket D is not a preferred hang out but I have been outside of it back in the days prior to Cryptic's shutdown...and been there a couple times over the last three years...just never for long. Been to Ourobos as well...again only a few fleeting visits. Casual solo player and I've yet to get any toon to 50 (mainly due to altitis) since I came back 3 yrs ago. Though Major Holocaust (45 redside) and Nuclonus (42 blue) are slowly, if infrequently, grinding towards such. 

 

Ya kinda missed the point of my statement though about lack of gas stations in the zones. One gas station in Kallisti for ALL of Paragon? Kinda silly ain't it. Just like how heavy the traffic is in Faultline vs somewhere like Talos or Indy. 😉 lol

Paragon City has gone in heavily for the electric vehicle nonsense. Which is why you don't see any buses running around between all the bus stops -- not even Dr. Aeon can figure out how to make electric buses useful for anything except starting fires in the storage parks. Well, it is a proven-effective way of heating the buses in cold winter weather, once you get past the limitations that you can't control the amount of heat produced, the amount of heat is typically hundreds of times what you need to keep the occupants warm, you can only use the heating mechanism once per bus, and it's really hard to turn off the heating once it starts.
