+4/8 Dark Armor

Trying to find a build that can utilize dark armor for farming. Mainly I want to have resists at or near cap. I would like to have a lot of aoe, but I am interested in the new Psi melee if that is possible. If anyone can point me to a build I can use it would be appreciated.

It helps if you tell folks what your farming?  S/L? Fire Farm, The Terrible Tsundere Taco Farm?  etc...

Psi armor is new. Psi melee has been around since HC launch in 2019. It has 1 PBAoE and 1 narrow cone, so not great for AoE.

 

Best sets for AoE are (in no particular order) Fire, Battle Axe, War Mace, Savage, Spines and Titan Weapons.

However; I'd urge caution in pairing some of those sets (particularly Battle Axe) with Dark Armor... as even with a Theft of Essence Proc in Dark Regeneration it's likely that you will end up starved for Endurance (at least until you're IOed-up and/or can grab Ageless!)

Savage Melee, Staff Fighting and Dark Melee offer endurance management tools.

If you're planning on just farming, endurance management becomes more of a reliance on Ageless and less on powersets. As well, the amount of AOE in a set matters less. You'll want be more focused on having one or two really good AOE attacks and then using AOE from one of the patron pools.

This means radiation melee, martial arts, electric melee, and psi melee do just fine for farming, in addition to the sets people are mentioning above. 

Savage melee pairs very nicely with dark armor, as long as you dump your blood frenzy stacks before hitting 5 so you don't get exhaustion.


All of that is assuming you're not trying to build a real character that can farm on the side.

Thank you, the build is missing the level 8 power. And as far as farming, I wanted to go for fire farming I guess. It's what I have done most.

What lvl 8 power?  Do you even know what is optimal for Fire Farming?

You've got Obscure Sustenance at lvl 8. I'm guessing that the OP hasn't updated Mid's for the latest patch and that power isn't showing up.

Aye, I just had to update it through discord. Kinda makes the idea of an auto updater moot. Anyway, Mids is updated, I can see the new power. Thank you.

Dark Armor with Obscure Sustenance doesn't have the classic problems with endurance, so pretty much any set should work well. Martial Arts is a strong set for farming. While it only has one AE, it's a very good AE that can slot Force Feedback.

 

I haven't tried it, but my suspicion is that between capped S/L resists, Obscure Sustenance, Cloak of Fear and not completely terrible Defense, you should be able to survive just fine. I usually go Psi Mastery on my farmers due to the endurance reaction and the extreme range on Psi Tornado (this can be invaluable for not having to run all over the place when you want new mobs to kill).

I was thinking of MA/Dark for a toon. Either scrapper, brute or tanker. Mainly for solo content and maybe S/L farming for credits. Do you happen to have a build for a tanker for this?

Saw this thread and figured I'd share my Dark/Spines/Psi Tank build just for some inspiration. Resistance is capped to everything but Energy (68%) and Toxic (62%). It also has a bit over soft-capped Melee and AoE defense and about 35% ranged. I haven't updated it since the new changes to Dark, but it is very survivable (granted this build was expensive). I like to use him to run +4 ITFs because he's pretty much immortal, I think I've used my heal one or twice in the last dozen ones that I've run. Spines has a lot of good AoE, and you gets you access to a second damage aura, which I like.

 

I'll need to look at swapping Dark Regeneration for Obscure Sustenance and maybe add in Cloak of Fear since that has some KB protection now. But I'm loathe to change the build since it works so well as is. Although, with CoF's endurance cost reduction it could now work well to add some to-hit debuffage which helps amp up your defenses even more.
