Jaynen Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Here is my take on a War Mace/WillPower Scrapper, note that I have particular questions on where best to put the ATO sets and this is with no purples, no winter sets, no superior sets what I would consider a "budget" IO set Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Yipp Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Hope someone with knowledge answers you I am building one too! :D War Mace What will you attack chain look like? I have read the attack chain should be Clobber>Shatter>Jawbreaker "If" that is true do we need to 6 slot Pulverize, assuming won't use it (outside of leveling)? How should Whirling Mace & Crowd Control be slotted? Just as we would AOE damage or should we consider their CC functionality in our slotting decisions? Willpower I am more confused about "proper" slotting on this set, Resurgence Looks like one to skip as does Strength of Will (I hate powers with a crash) Epic Pools (is Pines accurate on Scrapper choices?) I pondering if selecting Body Mastery for Physical Perfection (More Regen & Recovery) & Focused Accuracy would work better than Water Spout & Hibernate (which I agree with you is a fine choice). Maneuvers & Tactics are also fine choices. I would not place more than 1 slot in Combat Jumping and that would be for Luck of The Gambler Global Recharge, I am going to build mine with Hasten. I hope someone with Experience in these abilities jumps in to our discussion
Jaynen Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 I believe you still use pulverize in your ST chain its Clobber- Shatter- Jawbreaker- Pulverize. Besides shatter I think at least one of the attacks takes a -res proc which will be important. I didn't go body mastery because I feel like with quick recovery likely things will be fine endurance wise especially once you get incarnates and most people seem to ageless destiny. Some of the skippable powers you take and slot only for their set bonuses you can put in there. I don't like crowd control much and would prefer not to make heavy use of it, whirling is great
Yipp Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 While you could use Pulverize? Why would you if you can complete your rotation with 3 attacks? Again I am at level 20 and can only go by what I have read. I agree no to quick recover, however I am wondering if Physical Perfection might be a solid alternative to the Hibernate style of play?
Jaynen Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 Because the dps math sheet says you do need it until you get over 250% recharge
Yipp Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 A question on Willpower. Should I be prioritizing on set bonuses, Recovery, Regeneration, & Hit points over Resistances & Defense? What Defense & Resistance levels are considered acceptable; low-mid-high? A question on War Mace. How is it best to slot Whirling Mace & Crowd Control? I find Whirling mace underwhelming & even debating dumping it entirely... Crowd Control is far more effective & it would appear Superior Avalanche (Def) or Armageddon (acc & recharge) are a natural choice. A question on Enhancement Sets. I see builds using Eradication level 40 or Kinetic Combat level 30 to grab their Melee & S/L Defensive Set bonuses over the higher premium sets with much higher defense, resists, recharge etc... is this common practice with Melee?

You're going to want to add Defense, Resistance, and my preference would be +dmg in those orders for WP. WP already has enough regen in RttC. Aim for the 45% soft cap defense to all three positions or S/L/E is another option.
Yipp Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Here is my first stab at WM/WP. I am posting it here on Jaynen's post not to hijack his thread but to consolidate our conversations... hope this is ok. A few notes... Not sure what I am doing... ;D I have added Cross Punch solely as a crowd control device, considering dumping punch or kick for resurgence, Strength of Will is there because I needed something. Unsure if Health, Stamina, Fast Healing, Quick Recovery enhancement choices & slotting make sense Open to any and all changes NOTE Modified Build! Jaynen Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 Well mine is 50 now and just finishing up Dark Astoria AOE is not great, its more crowd control while you murder things one at a time, I am running +1/x3 or so Endurance use is brutal at 50 even with stamina and quick recovery slotted I went agility alpha to help with endurance and recharge at least for now It hits like a truck and the knockdowns are very satisfying and help make it feel very weighty. I got a lucky string of crits vs Reicshman an elite boss in Dark Astoria and did like 1100, 500, 500, 600 damage to him with 4 crits in a row after a proc. Overall I would say he feels good, and as a general all around character only needs inspirations in a few situations with odd damage types of mobs he definitely does not feel squishy and war mace has a very heavy weighty feel to it. Surprisingly I find I am liking crowd control over whirling mace because of the knockdown
Yipp Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Surprisingly I find I am liking crowd control over whirling mace because of the knockdown I agree with this in my newest build I have dropped Whirling Mace & picked up fighting pools cross punch for its stun and knockdown abilities. Question do you think we need the 2nd "crowd control" skill (like cross punch) or better to reallocate those slots to other abilities? I am 48 at the moment and plan to respec this weekend after reaching 50.... keep your great feedback coming!
Jaynen Posted July 13, 2019 Author Posted July 13, 2019 hmm I don't think the fighting pool attack is needed. My primary chain knocks guys down a lot. I just need more recharge to make crowd control and whirling come up faster
Yipp Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 hmm I don't think the fighting pool attack is needed. My primary chain knocks guys down a lot. I just need more recharge to make crowd control and whirling come up faster Not taking Whirling ... thinking of either replacing it with Cross Punch which is a better stun mag 3 vs 2 and has Knockdown as well or dropping it entirely and using the slots elsewhere & only using Crowd Control on its own

Yipp Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Thanks, Shang! We having a lively Discord discussion right now I believe!
honoraryorange Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Question on this one - why so much accuracy? Without Focused Accuracy and removing Vigor Alpha, you still have a ton from your set bonuses + what's slotted into each power, enough I think you should reach the cap even fighting +4s and going for AVs. EDIT: Oh I see the build has Build Up toggled on, which really throws off the Totals :) I thought there were some set bonuses upping it a ton, but it looks like you've only got 30% bonus accuracy so I can see how it'd be useful when soloing 54s. Also do you think Vigor core is worth it over Agility? The Endurance (Recovery vs Reduction) is a wash, and you trade Regen for more Defense and Recharge although I guess more Recharge isn't really needed with this build's already awesome levels of it.
