I'm confused. This rollback is just on the test server, right? If so, why the fuss? (honestly curious since I don't pay near as much attention to patch notes as I should)

Open beta is basically prerelease.. leveraging some crowdsourcing for bug testing.

Now hope for any improvement to the T9 Crashes has been dashed.

 

Even if the crashes were somewhat mitigated that should be an improvement.

T9s are supposed to be powerset defining powers. Overly harsh crashes are a big contributor in them often being skipped.

 

If abandoning any improvements or even any further discussion of improvement were due to a small niche subset of the game, that would be frustrating.

This is very unfortunate and clearly something had a major shift to go from hey we are making one of the least desirable aspects of some of the powers better to completely taking this topic off the table.  I still feel finding a way to update the near auto exclude crashing powers would be good for the game.  If this is a case of complexity just take your time and do it in stages.  The design of crashing powers felt outdated when the game went live well before we were even optimizing builds.

 

I know this a 99.9% waste of time post but the idea had merit even to just make it to the beta update and I know I'm not part of the in-crowd and just a fan.

Original T9s were designed for a game with only TOs/DOs/SOs. That game is long past dead. Let's move on.

And during that period, some of us were Perma-T9 gods. I agree that that time has passed. Let’s move on.

Perma-Lude had people calling me in to deal with max diff Malta missions because sappers were never a problem for me.

And back then, I put the entire map into a dumpster for insta-nuke (which once crashed three players after a Fulcrum Shift from herding the Crystal Cave). You perma-Scrappers were just melee pets.

One of my fondest CoH memories: My brother, Green Dwarf, and I are both lvl 49. I had played REALLY hard to catch up to him. We're on a team together fighting Carnies and he messaged everyone but me, "Do Nothing. Hang back." And then, "Go get her, Bill!"

I promptly faceplanted and he hit 50 first.
