[Resolved] Signature Lines?

Will you all be enabling signature lines for the new forums?  Preferably with a limit on what goes in there...(Some posters had sig lines that were larger than any post they ever made)

I will second the recommendation for rules as to size - number of lines; if images are allowed their dimensions (in pixels, on both axes) and whether or not animated images are allowed; size of font allowed (saying "only three lines" doesn't help if someone uses 72-point font instead of the usual 10- or 12-point font!); possibly limiting the use of colors for text (like, maybe, "no more than three" or similar) .... those sorts of things.  🙂

Put me down for wanting to be able to use animated gifs of 300 kb or less that can fit within a bounding box of 100x100 pixels.

A useful solution could be a forced collapse where if a signature is above a certain size, you only see a preview which must be clicked. I've seen this solution before on other websites and enjoyed it a lot.

Signatures have been enabled again; we can work on a system to restrict their height to a collapsible as @Sunsette suggested after more important things (like the BBCode conversion) have been completed.

 

Edit: For now, max lines and image size in signatures has been limited to 5 lines and 300x150px respectively.
