Thanks for posting this. I’m also working on a robotics/time MM. my goal is to run +4/8 S/L in AE.

a couple changes i would make. I see no need for teleport, what do you think of whirlwind instead? With a KB to KD slot? If not then super jump would let you do zone pvp at least.

You took time stop which is pretty single target. It feels like a waste unless you’re also doing pvp. /time forces you to take time crawl at lvl 1, or else I would skip that as well. The 2 AoE debuffs are plenty for most mobs. Also the single targets don’t stack on themselves so it’s kind of lame.

You have blood mandate on lvl 1 bots, but I’ve seen other people slotting robots for mass procs instead of set bonuses. Or at least frankenslotting.

Sorry, I can't import that build from the data block. I have Pine's 2.6.0.1, but it says it's an invalid format.

Here's my Bots/Time build for reference though. It's soft-capped as well (At least with a shield from one of the Protector Bots):

This was my old build on Live.  I’ve improved it on Homecoming but currently in process of taking her through the Incarnate trees (only T3’s thus far).  It’s actually better, and TP-self “Combat Teleporting” into spawn still has her taking the alpha (without impact in all but RNG-doom cases) and the bots opening up at range.  Way beyond softcapped +DEF to everything, and insanely high recharge as well.  Fun MM to play.  Was and remains my favorite.

Never found the MM playstyle outside of the COH game.   Certainly some pets, but not the same “I’m directing my own film here” playstyle.

I can post an updated Pine’s build if you’d like.

Crysis,

I have been following your build for a very long time. In live, I mistakenly ran Mercs/Dark, and even then I felt powerful.

Now, I am following your build, and suggestions you have made in various other posts about this build, and I'm loving it. Even at my low level, it crushes most things in its path.

I, for one, would love to see your current build, and hear any suggestions you might have to make about it.

Yes please do post an updated build.    OH, and I was messing around with your old build this morning.    and I found out that you can recreate the exact same build but with Beasts/Time.   Just have to swap out level 18 Assault for Fortify Pack.   You lose assault, but gain the pet crits, and you wouldn't ever have to actually use Fortify Pack, just keep it for the inherent crits.

So please, please post an updated build.  I'm actually leveling a bots/time and beast/time based on your old build.  Both just in high 20's/mid 30's so far.

@kelly Rocket, You have KB2KD on the ProtBot's. Do they have a KB power? I've not seen them KB yet.

CK969

They do. The game doesn't let you slot Knockback sets (Which Sudden Acceleration is one) in a pet that doesn't do knockback. Protector bots don't have a lot, but they do have a heavy burst attack that will knock back. They don't do it often, but since Bots' damage is extremely dependent on keeping the enemy in place so they take the full burn damage from Incendiary Swarm Missiles, I want to neutralize even that little bit.

@Crysis see in the OLD post you posted screenshots of the numbers.

I am not grasping the numbers because MIDS / Pines is not adding up the numbers correctly. Though the screenshots are helpful in seeing the numbers.

I guess what is the time interval you have to pop these powers to max.

EG I have a similar Kludge on my DP Kin, where Hail of Bullets gets me the melee and AOE defense cap. But sometimes surviving to pull of Hail of Bullets can be an issue on big fights. Mostly Incarnate and AE Farms.

Sorry gang, I forgot about this thread.  I followed my old build initially, but then went off it considerably about level 40 and used many IO sets not readily available to me back in Live.

Plainguy, the reason you can’t get MIDS/PINES to match my old screenshots (forgot about those!) is because it doesn’t properly account for the bubbles you get from the Protector bots.  And how you slot those bots can impact the +DEF from those bubbles by as much as 5% or more.  Thus why I posted the screenshots.

Also, while perma-Powerboosted Farsight exists in the numbers I’m showing in screenshots below, it’s CRITICAL that every time Powerboost AND Farsight are charged, you pop them in that order.  If you don’t, you’ll be off considerably from these numbers.  Not that it matters terribly if you mess up because of all the -TOHIT this build throws out.  But timing and sequence of your “defense application chain” is everything to achieve the desired results.

Let me get my final build back into PINES (or MIDS or whatever its called now) and I’ll post it soon.

For those who don’t know what we are referencing, here’s the old link and I’m attaching the screenshots of my in-game stats from original build.

And off topic, but looking back at my younger-self posts, my apologies for being such a twerp back then.  I’ve matured considerably and life circumstances have humbled me greatly.  I apologize if my old self came across as flippant or offensive.  Funny what time-traveling your internet history will reveal about you.  That was a dark time for me.

Yeah. And just an FYI. The mids pines team is working on adding the bots shield and demons resist to the effects window.

I just got got this email from Crytilas today.

“Thanks for the numbers @SmalltalkJavaI will double check weights for level 50 and add see if I can't squeeze it into the 6.2.0.3 release/update before it is pushed”

I'm also currently using your old build as a template. I'd be interested in actually seeing an upgraded version. If you'd be so kind 😛

Sorry gang, been working a bunch.  Just had time to update things.  I have my own private server setup now and spend more time tweaking it than I think I do actually playing it.

Until PINES updates to show bubbles correctly, you'll have to "imagine" that you are seeing 11-12% additional +DEF to all by Psionics from Protector Bot bubbles.  And remember that they double-bubble their pals (not themselves) for twice that amount.

I've included my Incarnate power choices in the build, but left them turned off.  What you'll see is softcapped to everything but Psionics for PVE, and well beyond iTrials softcaps to S/L (at almost 80%) and Energy at around 77%.  The rest of the positionals/typed will be ranging from 50-56% for normal PVE stuff.  Bots will be at 48% for all but Psi, other than AOE which will be at 58%.  Protector Bots, again being unable to double bubble themselves, will drop down to around 36% for all but AOE, and they will be at 46% for that.  Psi remains a weakspot for all of them at 24%.  Can't really get around that.  But with such high +DEF I seldom get mezzed and it's rare for more than one of them to get mezzed as well.  Clarion eventually comes along to help with that.

You by no means need this much +DEF, and I built it by sacrificing almost all +RES as well as some other things like holds, etc.  But I've been happier with this build on HC than I was on my already-happy-with-it build back on Live.  Recharge is very high (192% or so with Hasten + Chrono + full set bonuses) and I did some Boosting on some of the normal IO's and most of the +DEF IO's from the LOTG sets.  But you can definitely get by with quite a bit less if you prefer.  Everything is so cheap (relative to Live) that I just went a bit crazy with a ton of merits and playing the enhancement converter game.  So why not?

At any rate, hope you find it useful!

Kelly, are you still getting KB from the P-bots when they hit the same mob with their heavy burst? I have a regular lev 21 IO slotted for them and an attuned IO slotted in the A-bot, but the P-bots still seem to be throwing mobs around sometimes. 😮

Thanks a lot for the updated build. After looking at it I wonder if it makes sense to change some of the Luck of the Gambler slots. As I understand it you need 105% recharge to make Haste permanent. The build has 122.5% recharge. Since Luck of the Gambler is only used for the +recharge, one could replace it in certain powers, this would give a little more resistances depending on what sets are used.

So what do you think. Is there something I'm missing for why we need this much recharge?

Also: Stamina with one Performance Shifter: Chance for +End and three Stamina Mod IOs gives slightly more recovery (+0.03). One would loose the +speed and +HP of course. Since the Recovery seems high enough, I guess going with 4 Performance Shifter IOs might be better. Just something I noticed.

If one would decide that 122.5% recharge is overkill, then something like Panacea could be changed as well. So yeah, thoughts on the amount of recharge?

Other than that I have an impossible time with finding anything to change about the build.

Edit: Replacing 2 Luck of the Gambler sets seems promising: Haste has a 120.5s recharge, so it's not up for 0.85 seconds if my math is correct. I'd still call that perma Haste.

Instead we gain resists (8% all + some against S/L and status effects) and slightly more HP.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding more recharge, I’ve had this build up as high as 200+% recharge before.  Chronoshift is +50% by itself.  But what I’ve found, since I have really only my one primary attack, I’m just not needing anything perma-d other than Perma-Powerboosted Farsight.  So what I do is leave Hasten off of auto and whenever I’m ready to take on a spawn, I’m clicking PB+Farsight+Chronoshift and then clicking Hasten again when it’s up.  This is 193% recharge when those are both running with these set bonuses as is (off memory, I think I’m at 73% recharge from set bonuses).  Add in a T4 Ageless and you’ve got plenty to get to perma Chronoshift AND Hasten if I recall.

So I agree, you bring down some of the DEF set bonuses as you’ve got so much to work with already here, and gain a little more Recharge, but you are going to have enough Recharge to move from spawn to spawn +4/x8 as-is already.  So for me, didn’t need anything else.

That’s the cool part about playing this set though...so many ways to slot, especially the /Time side.

I did not account for Chrono Shift. Now I have a better understanding about how you stack the cooldowns. With your setup Chrono Shift has a recharge of 98.29s. With mine it's 100.3s or 102.5s depending on weather I frankenslot Shield Wall +6% res, Reactive Defense +3% res and Kismet +6% accuracy OR if I slot 3 Shield Wall and 3 Reactive defense (like in the build example I linked).

Well it's a bit more than 102.5s since Chrono Shift falls off and you loose it's recharge bonus for those ~4 seconds, but I'm too lazy to math it out.

I guess it's a question of how fast one pulls and if there's travel time between packs. Status protections isn't that useful after all, since it only reduces the time a status lasts, so you're still unprotected against Hold/Stun/Sleep and loose Time's Juncture. I really wish I could find a way to prevent that, especially when the Leadership Auras all stay active when cc'ed. Small amounts of resists against Lethal/Smashing/Fire/Cold might also not be as good as I think.

I'll probably just have to finish farming up the infamy with my "kinda working for now" Spines/Fire brute and test it out at max level myself to see how much I'd value some resist over the recharge. I even tried one variant that drops Photon Grenade and Combat Jumping for Boxing and Tough, to make use of Resistance IO sets. But yeah, it's really difficult to make this build objectively better, so kudos to you. I'll report back if I find anything that makes the build perform better if I do run into any issues.

Edit: and then I found this thread:

So now everything is up in the air again. The fact that you can slot all those +def buffs for pets and damage procs and also have incarnate abilities affect them. Man this is impossible to figure out.

I have not noticed any of my bots doing knockback once I slotted them with Sudden Acceleration. All of mine are attuned though.

TY. 🙂  Found the problem. User Error. lol

Forgot to slot the Drones as well. 😄

Ah, yeah. They too do knockback. I had actually tried to swap the Overwhelming Force piece to them, after realizing that it wasn't going to work in the Assault Bot, but they still did knockback with that, so I ended up buying a third Sudden Acceleration.

Would be nice if the admins could fix whatever problem OF has that causes it to not always convert knockback to knockdown for some powers (Which seems to include every Bot attack).

Bit late, but after reading the thread I was inspired to try out the build Crysis put up. And I hate to say it, but the results are... disappointing. Shes more or less a fresh 50, with most of the IO's listed. All but the 25m/slot ones. Her defense is around 55%. But its not her defense thats the issue, or the support. Its her damage. Her damage is so low that she struggles on +1/8, and I am struggling to figure out how to get past this point. I have all the IOs for support and defenses, and I am working on the ones for my assault bot at the moment.

Playstyle - I usually leave my pets on BG mode, unless I see priority targets then I put command the assualt and battle bots to focus them down. I keep Powered Farsight up, haste, chrono shift. I also keep down distortion fields and slowed responses, and use Chrono Shift as necessary.

But I think I have the style down, but is this just not a solo friendly setup? Because Ive left to make a cup of coffee before and returned, and my bots are still fighting the same group of mobs. Ive had farsight and so on come off cooldown.

Anyway, any insight to this please? Suggested Incarnates? Is this more or less a group only build or will it be able to solo harder content later on? I am just concerned about sinking any more infamy into this build without confirmation that it will be able to run with the big boys later on.

Thanks bunches.
